disconnected from server every time I change characters

Every time I Change characters I am currently required to wait till I get disconnected and then reenter my Password (horrible if you have 18 characters....)

Over the last week or two STO has gotten to the point of being unplayable. The number SNRs and disconnections are at a rediculous level. Many players have been reporting this issue, but there doesn't seem to be anything Cryptic can do about it.

I've been experiencing this issue for over a week now. Seems that Cryptic is forgetting that they are a business. Why should we continue to spend our money on a product that we cannot use half the time? It's unbearable this morning. I can't even get logged into ANY of my toons without a server disconnect. Seems like improper load balancing and/or inadequate server resources.

Yes, apparently lots of people are having similar problems with STO and for some it makes the game unplayable. My solution has been to stop spending money on the game and to stop doing missions and queues and only login once per day to do daily fleet assignments in hopes they will fix this ASAP. The fact is, even just doing that, I still get disconnected changing maps (especially SOL) and/or characters. If we keep playing and spending money, they have no incentive to fix these issues. i was going to get the lifetime subscription in july,, i was having issues with thier computer canceling my credit card, thier solution was use pay pal. even thou i proved it was thier computer doing the cancelation with no valid reason, so what did i do you ask, i did nothing, i withheld the 200$ and as of today im glad i did. 3 wks ago my game gets unstable after 7pm est thru 11pm est almst every night, some nights worse than others. i have yet to find a solution but know there are others with identical problems, i have resisted sending a complaint to the service dept cause the player base is more helpfull with suggestions than they are. and so far nothing helped LOL. thanks for trying thou. my disonnects isnt restricted to only changing characters mine is talking to others on chat, standing there trying to enter a pve, etc. but only at night during the day im usually fine, sometimes first thing around 8 to 9 am, it glitches a little bit but not nerely as bad as at night. and yes it started roughly 3 wks ago as in the article you posted. following one of the updates.
