Dance runs for a set number of moves (or time). You can complete the dance off before the mission expires. If you log out before it does and log back in later it will occasionally reward an extra 50 lohnut favors.
Also, if you arrive late and comple part of it and log out before the dance expires and time it so that you log in while the dance is active again, it will resume the mission from where you were on the previous dance off.
