likte to see that in game, not many ppl play it and it takes sometimes very long to start one. and a ranking system would be very cool. u will see whos the best in game.. what u think about it?
STO has tried to work on PvP, but I won't do it, for any reason. Not here to fight other players, here to play the game my way.
That said, good luck with your request.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

The problem is we got casuals and we got hardcores, and the egos to match.
Some people get off on being able to nuke everything in sight in a single pass, while others actually want a decent fight where one wrong move could cost you.
I myself fall into the second category, especially as I mostly fly cruisers. But we have people who advocate DPS over all else and some even go so far as to insult another person's skills and even purpose for being in game for not meeting their perceived standards.
Until a foolproof method of making it fair for all is developed, PvP is basically the domain of the hardcore PvPers alone, and some of them fight with their wallets. PvP is honestly the only real area of STO that can be considered Pay2Win, as they can afford to get all the c-store ships for the very desirable ship traits, spend money to buy Zen to trade for Dilithium to expedite their upgrading to mk XIV gold everything, buy all the gear with desirable mods to maximize damage output...
Us casuals tend to get nuked and insulted for lack of skill because of being nuked. So we tend to avoid PvP like the plague. I've gone into private PvP before, but that was only with friends. No ego stroking. Just actual fun or helping a friend figure out what's going on with a build and helping to improve said build.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

This coin has two sides. Hardcore players get antagonized in PvP as well because:
- they exploit OP abilities,
- grind the game for 40 hours a week,
- every lobi item and ship trait slotted is pay2win anyway.
Problem is not the casual vs. hardcore playerbase but rather the scrub mentality of a lot of players in game. Interestingly this is not limited to PvP but we have it in (teamed!) PvE and (lol) even the exchange as well. Would not suprise me if we have even space barbie scrubs in game.

PVP at the moment is very much a question of one wrong move that decides your fate...not only you have to be sure of what you do, but also your team. There are counters to nuke builds in team play, you just need the right counter setup.
Concerning the P2W, I have to say that while money really helps you to stay ontop of the game, anything is achievable without putting money into the game, which makes it not P2W, but rather caters to the person that must have everything before anybody else. Again, everything is accessable to everybody...no overpowered gear is locked behind an item store that only takes real cash as is the case in so many other games.
being casual does not necessarely mean you are bound to fail in PVP. It is more a question of your setup...certain high dps setups fail misserably in PVP. Build your ship for PVP nd you will succeed eventually. It is also more about the team effort than a solo performance.
That said, I too avoid any PVP in this game, since it requires me to use builds I don't necessarely like to play and put my resources into stuff I would normaly ignore. I just don't find it worth the effort since there is literally nothing to gain. Rewards are non existing and the community is kind of toxic, outside of your own bubble of friends.

For most people, that wrong move is just BEING there as they get ninja oneshot nuked by an alpha strike build. Don't even have time to START to counter before you're dead.
So you are only too casual for PvP but quiet hardcore when it comes to Space Barbie.
Oh you have no idea. I frickin' made an awesome Lucina cosplay thanks to the Competitive Rep armor parts combined with other things. Just needed a cape I could actually USE.
Sometimes when I'm bored I'll randomly try to recreate a character from something else in the Tailor. Granted I'm doing this on a Trill female... but I made a decent Lara Croft, Tanya Adams, Black Widow, Ghostbuster, Terran Ghost... what else... a few Fog Mental Models from Arpeggio of Blue Steel... Sami from Advance Wars (Which is almost 100% accurate by the way)...
I be a costume fiend.
Just wish it was easier to get Lobi outfits. The Ithenite must be VERY popular as I can NEVER find one on the Exchange, or when I do... I can't save up ECs fast enough before its gone.
Ratty is denied the ability to go to a Toga Party...

yes, but PVP is not about dying one time only...you respawn, you counter, you win.
Go pro or go home

yes, but PVP is not about dying one time only...you respawn, you counter, you win.
Or you respawn, and get oneshot again before you can react. Repeat until you rage quit.
Against an alpha strike cloaker... you got almost NO time to react before you're already dead because you can't see them coming until they're already shooting you, which is too late.
The DPS mentality is equally on display in PvP as it is in PvE. Unless you can get 50-100k DPS and can TAKE it as well... you're nothing but a target. Even if you get one shot off it won't matter. And if you somehow HAPPEN to survive... they'll just run off, wait for their cooldowns... then alpha strike you again until you're dead.
I'm a pretty decent PvE player. I can hold my own against most NPCs. Stick me in a map with a DPS PvPer... The only thing you'll see of me is my ship exploding CONSTANTLY because I can't react to the sheer damage output of the other guy.

Actually guys... I DID start a cosplay thread some time ago. Its a year old overall, but I think the Art section is more lenient on the necro due to not being as active as General.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll see a bunch of skants... and under one of those party dance balls.

I meen in PvE most Guys got Epic Items or good/strong Traits aswell.. but in PvP you need just other Gear.

But (wahhh ) she's got all the OP/p2w outfits and costumes from the lobi store.
