Hey all, I have been putting off starting a new Sci toon. I have no good topped out scis. But I dont want to make her if people think the next recruitment event is around the corner. Anyone got a best guess?

There have been two recruitment events. One in October 2014, the second in July 2016.

So likely not for at least another 6 months.

Your information is not correct. The delta recruitment event was not part of the original Delta Rising release in October 2014. Cryptic did it in April 2015 presumably because Delta Rising did not fulfill expectations and got people to play.

Here is one of the original announcements:

Nevertheless I agree with your estimate when the next one could be.

I would love a KDF/FED TNG themed - "Officer Exchange" Recruitment event.
Like we saw in TNG when Riker serves aboard a Klingon Vessel.
    "A Matter of Honor"

So if you choose to make a FED toon, you'd have access to the KDF ships as you level up.
(At end game - When you've completed the Exchange program) you'd then have access to only FED ships. Because by the end of it, you'd have transferred back to regular FED duty.

And vice versa for new KDF recruits.

Part of the rewards could be opposite faction Admiralty card sets upon completion. They could also give FEDs a one time BoP T5 freebie as a gesture of good faith/gift from the Klingon empire for the services you provided while on exchange.
KDF characters would receive a one time T5 Defiant or Galaxy class reward/gift.

Or some variation of the above....

It would be an interesting approach if done well. And would be a nice tribute to TNG (30th anniversary).

I would like to see a KDF recruitment event, but given the dearth of more klingon-centric content my guess is that it most likely would be a Lukari themed event.

Lot of events at the upcoming STLV scheduled about upcoming additions to STO. We'll have to see what they tease here.

If they are smart they will do a KDF one. They have a whole back catalog of KDF c-store ships they would gain a market for by getting everyone to roll and level a klingon.

I'll bet 600 quatloos with Martok back, we'll definitely be seeing a KDF theme for the next recruiting event.

You're on. As a side bet, I wager 200 extra quatloos that we get a Gamma Quadrant expansion with a new DS9 and revamped Cardassian line before we see serious work on Klingon space or gear.

However, I will back any bet that the next major effort in STO will be a Discovery based expansion specifically to draw new players who get turned on to Trek via the new show. It'll also provide free advertisement for the show. We'll have to fight off a wave of Ancient Klingon invaders and maybe get some cross-faction Ancient Klingon ships out of the deal. It'll be the most fun players had since Delta Rising.

    The players will love it!

KDF would be nice but I agree it's a very long shot.

Discovery-based seems like a safe bet, though I expect the show to bomb behind its paywall.

A KDF recruitment event is exactly what this game needs.

As Valoreah said, doesn't have to be just Klingons, there are other races in the KDF.. heck, throw in KDF Romulans too while we're at it.

It's a smart move for them, get more people playing Klingons, they could sell more KDF ships and create a larger player base for future ship releases. It would be the smart thing to do.

If they do it...I will create a KDF Aligned Romulan Alien...
and make that alien look like a Klingon.

Because it is fun to be a Klingon wandering around New Rom Command. LOL!

I would very much like a Klingon recruiting event or expansion. Or upgrade. Or walk around First City and not see the old empty Forge and animal tamer pens. You know, any attention paid to Klingons is good.

But Discovery is right there. And it's first season ends right about at Cryptic's habitual build cycle.

    But I'm just guessing.

I don't think they will do another new recruitment event.

I only say that because the rewards from the AoY were pretty good, and they would have to come up with something even better to be the carrot..

Tribble. We make playable tribble and sneak into other players inventory. Then we multiply, and eat everything in their bags. Then we infest their ships and conquer the galaxy. I'm sure of it.

Like mob play they did in EQ briefly?
Where instead of logging in as your character. You logged in and were any one of the various creatures the PCs normally went after. Thus there were NPC's with a different attitude than the basic AI the players trashed so often.

I think it would be amusing to be a borg cube in one of the red alerts. Players go to fight it and find it to be a veritable PvP match instead of the usual curbstomp.
Same on Defera. Imagine if a borg adapted faster? Used cover?

SWTOR had a couple of levels where you played as a mouse droid, those were fun. And a nice reminder of playing an R2D2 type droid in KOTOR 1 and a C3PO type in KOTOR 2.
