I always thought the Guardian class was analogous to a T6 Ambassador. It's not the same thing, I know, but it is certainly close and pays tribute to the original Enterprise C on the wall of the Enterprise D's conference room before "Yesterday's Enterprise" happened.
If they don't want to release a T6 Ambassador class then i say allow us to use the skin on the Guardian.

Shame too because the Guardian really is a pretty solid ship and it's unpopular to the point where I'm actually shocked when I see one.
I own it, and the only reason I don't fly it is I just don't like the way it looks. Yeah, it handles like a cinder block floating in mud, but obviously, there are ways to compensate for that. Giving it the classic Ambassador Skin and maybe even a new 'updated' Ambassador skin would be great, but if they put in that type of effort they will probably make it it's own 3k Zen ship.

The Guardian was actually the first ship I bought when T6 ships were released. It's definitely meant to be the spiritual successor to the ambassador. The looks and the boff layout definitely cry out ambassador. It's not a bad ship, it's just not a particularly good one either.
The Guardian IS the Ambassador's successor. Just check it's stats and stations..
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
The problem is that the Guardian cannot use the Ambassador skin. So, though it may appear to be and functionally be the successor to the Ambassador, it still cannot use the skin like other ships that are upgraded.

Meh, I've never accepted that answer. The Guardian is fine, but it's no more an Ambassador than the Eternal was the Tier 6 Vesta or the Tier 6 Akira the "upside-down" NX...sorta similar console layout, Boff layout, or appearance does not an identical ship make.
That being said I think I'd probably get a Tier 6 Ambassador if it was made available. I really do like the design.

Of all the Enterprise "hulls", the Ambassador has been my favorite from a standpoint of looks. I wish that we could either have the skin made available for the Guardian or an actual T6 Ambassador.

I have the T5 unlocked for my Account. It is the only Federation T5 that can be used by Fed-aligned Romulans. My latest Character selected that as the ship when reaching Level 40. It performed well and was used until around Level 51. Unfortunately, they made this non-T5Uable. Also, even if you own this, you do not get the FSM discount for the Fleet version. So the Fleet version would cost 4 FSMs and an Upgrade Token. Recently opening up an Delta Alliance Duty Officer Pack I got 4 FSMs as the Bonus Prize.
We need a T6 Ambassador otherwise I may do something stupid like getting that Fleet Ambassador.
Knowing Cryptic, the d*mded T6 will end up temporarily shenanigened into the Lobi Store.

I own one but don't fly it as I don't like the look of the ship, in fact most of Cryptic's own Federation ship designs have the uncanny ability to make my eyes want to vomit. Take the Arbiter/Avenger in your signature. You captured the only angle that ship looks decent, every other angle and boy is that ship ugly.

I'd love to see the AMbassador be renamed "Support Cruiser [T6]" and scaled down just a little bit and then be able to use and kitbash the ambassador parts. Why they haven't made it so I don't know.

Yeah, the deflector and main hull still look.. bleh.
It's funny because I hate the Avenger, and I hate the Arbiter but I can mix them together and make something I actually like.
The biggest problem I have with the Guardian is that it lacks any customization options. The ship tailor options for the Guardian are completely non existent, every single Guardian looks the same except for 1 or 2 very minor differences.
Adding the Ambassador skin would really help fix that problem while giving people the T6 ship they want. They don't even have to design a new ship, just unlock the skin on the one that currently exists. The Guardian is actually a pretty solid ship, and very versatile as well, I have to think that making this change would breathe new life into a forgotten ship.
Shame too because the Guardian really is a pretty solid ship and it's unpopular to the point where I'm actually shocked when I see one.
Unpopular? That was my ship from Day One of Delta Rising. She was a sweet ride with great BOff seating. Was able to not only replicate my Assault Cruiser build on her, but enhance it with the Lt. Cmdr. Sci station and throw on Hazard Emitters! Even after I got the full Delta Pack and leveled the ships, the Guardian was my main for a LONG time until I got a Kelvin Connie, then a Vizier.
Unpopular? That was my ship from Day One of Delta Rising.
So.. because you bought one.. it's not unpopular?
I bought one too in the early days of T6 and it hasn't left my dry dock in years.
I'm sure they sold initially, but no one ever flies them anymore. Even you yourself just said you no longer fly yours. It's not like it's horribly outdated, it's still a very good ship.. it's just.. ugly.
Giving it access to the Ambassador skin would revitalize the ship and get people flying them again.
No. I don't see why it would be unpopular. Its a very well balanced setup. I removed the mini nacelles and bumper and used the alternate nacelles and smooth neck on mine.
She may have been a tad slower on the turn rate, but she was a BEAST.
As to not flying it anymore... I am flying a Sovy again through my Vizier. The Challenger was a good ship, but I gotta have my Lexington. I still have the Fleet Guardian in drydock.

Let me ask you this.. do you see a lot of Guardians flying around in game?
I totally agree with you.. it's a good ship. It's very versatile and highly capable.. so why don't we ever see any of them? I have to think it's because people don't like the way it looks, that's why I like the idea of giving it access to the ambassador skin. It's putting a desired skin on a good ship.. seems like a win/win.
Ultimately though, I believe the argument is moot because I know it won't happen. If Cryptic takes the time to revisit the Ambassador class they will likely also create a newer alternate version in a more 'modern' image like they did for all the other ships. If they take the time to do that, they're going to want to sell it for full price.
The sad and forgotten Guardian seems destined to remain forgotten.
A problem is that the Guardian is needkessly inflated, it's bigger than a Galaxy. If they just unlocked Ambassador parts those would be tiny.

Release the original Ambassador (it's canon)as a T6 refit and scale down the Guardian back to the proper size and hook it up to the new T6 Ambassador. That'll give you three Ambassador variants, one Probert skin, and two Guardian variants.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Personally, I think that the answer may simply be, that there are better ships available. I bought a Guardian and found it a very serviceable ship. But. Then I saw the stats for the Yorktown, and realized that the Yorktown would be a better fit for what I wanted in terms of boff seating. So I bought a Yorktown, and never looked back. Sure, I have other ships, and I love something about all of them, but if someone was to ask for a recommendation, the Yorktown would be my most immediate suggestion (depending on what they wanted to do, of course )
A new skin for the Guardian would definitely have the potential to breathe some new life into it

PS Another aspect, may be that folks like their 'theme builds', be it show canon, or personal preference, and so the Guardian doesn't really provide that platform (outside of personal project builds, of course, and then, as mentioned, there are often a better platform to build upon) I'd have to say that the Guardian (without some new skins) is likely to be destined to be 'the bridesmaid, but never the bride'...
