Yeah, but knowing that I'll be able to maybe get a new ship if I wait a whole a year is not really all that enticing.

well, just start it and wait, one way leads to a possibility of success, and the other to guaranteed failure.

And the amount of time you spend on that chance is negligible - one round plus starting the project is less than 5 minutes and apart from that you'll lose nothing.

At least on PC - and I would suspect it will be similar on consoles - you can slot and start (i. e. put at least 40 vouchers in it) the ship project and you will be able to finish it next year. You can then either start the probable new ship project after you finished this year's or use another character to run them in parallel. So up to now you are able to get any ship, even years later (somebody mentioned having finished a Nandi), as long as you get in at least one run in the year it starts.

Are you sure about this? The event specifically says that you need 2017 vouchers?

  • markhawkmanmarkhawkman Member Posts: 35,236 Arc User
oh, it does, but that really just means you can't use vouchers from previous years.

So you can you Vouchers for any previous event but vouchers are useless in future events?

That's how it's worked in the last few events.

I don't know who changed the drop rates for the Eggs, but they need slapping. Just a light playful slap, so that they get the message. But they do need slapping and no mistake.

It's not just you saying this, but yours was the first comment I found going backward through the thread that mentioned it, so you get the quote.

I ran Horga'hn Hunt 100 times and counted the eggs that I received for it. I picked up 39 for 100 hunts, or 39/1000 horga'hns collected. This is nearly the same as when I did the same thing in previous years, actually about 14% higher than when I did it in 2014 and posted the results here It always comes out close to 1 egg per 30 horga'hns collected. People scream nerf every year due to limited sample sizes, and being unable to see the streakiness in an RNG, but it literally always ends up being in the same range year after year.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

yeah, I've had a few runs this year where I got multiples in one run. doing it on 3 chars a cycle almost always gets me at least one egg.

I don't believe that they even read this thread but...

Maybe if the the Master Relaxer Alocade was actually achievable in the first month it could be thought of a passable event. Only recently was it fixed. During the first 4 weeks the Klingons only appeared for 10 seconds every 2 hours on the half hour...

Maybe if you guys really cared you would maybe add some new activities...

Didn't offer a 400 point voucher to start... so you make us grind another whole week while most of us go on summer vacation.
Last year you gave away free boards which are faster than the top boards you can buy... uh huh.

Did I mention that you could of added some new activities?

I've run four characters through it when I've run it. Been sick this year, so just mostly been doing Flying High. Got the ship and now running it for Comp marks. He's on his last project to get T5, so now I'll just run them while he does tokens for everyone else.

When I was running the hunt I'd get one egg more often than not. Sometimes two and very rarely three. Sometimes no eggs in a run. Never worried about it, I was doing it for the favors. Just glad I didn't need them so much this time around. Just getting to where I'm feeling like myself again after battling a kidney infection.
Now a LTS and loving it.

I used to like the summer event, but there are no real improvements, Risa is became boring.

I don't find it boring, I'm just getting back into it after being ill for over a week. Plus my inet connection is dodgy at certain times of day. That's the only reasons I haven't participated as much as I've wanted to.

I was forcing myself to finish out the Flying Highs I needed for the ship because of being ill, but it was worth it, I like the ship. Now getting on there at least once to take my main through for Comp marks. Just took my newest one through the two hunts and acquired like three eggs. Went through a powerboard race and got the rest of his monkey tags. Then had to run a mission to bump him to lvl 11 when the Monkey guy wouldn't let him start a monkey research. Funnily enough, the bird lady let him start hatching an egg at lvl 10. Had purchased the blue Risian DOFFs and one other from the exchange, so had the DOFFs.

Yeah, I am still playing on Risa, too. :) Though I am down to signing on every hour or so to do the Horga'hn hunt...because that is my favorite thing. I been blowing off too many chores....

Are the superior floaters flying slower and less controllable this year??? Or is that just my imagination?

Gave up on the powerboard races...though I probably should be practicing it for next year.

The superior floater did seem to be a bit slower without the Risian tribble. With it, I can fly faster and control it better. Still, it's not that off to me either. Guess I'm just used to keeping the tribble activated at all times.

Yeah, I been debating if it could be the indicator for the Tribble buff is still up visually, from the last time I logged in.....but in reality not there.

Maybe safer to hit the Tribble and make sure it is reactivated once in a while.

This was my first summer event and compared to the winter, I liked the latter more because the activities were more fun to me (esp. Snowmen manhunt and lane defense, Icefishing, Skating, and even the PVE queue).

For summer, I had one toon do the Flying High for vouchers and everyone doing enough quests to get the LOLnuts for the modules (averaged 70-100 per day). It almost felt like there wasn't enough stuff to do on Risa compared with the Winter Wonderland. Didn't help that the activities felt redundant (2 race types, 2 scavenger hunts) and Flying High gave me flashbacks to Superman 64 and the rings..... oh the rings. :D

Try doing 'Flying High' with a KDF Character where the Floater is invisible. You want your Superman/Supergirl? There you go. Put on a cape and color clothing blue and red and you're all set. :)

That's not really a KDF issue. I've had it on 2 characters this year, one fed, one Rom. It seems to happen when you have a non-uniform costume and the game forgets it's non-uniform.

That's what it was in previous years when it happened to me. It was KDF characters then, but was fixed by editing the outfits.

Flying High is nothing like Superman 64, though, since the controls are actually responsive in Flying High.
I used to like the summer event, but there are no real improvements, Risa is became boring.

Going around and saying that everything is boring and/or uninspired because someone got a little traction with a post titled that is, you guessed it, boring and uninspired.

I never said that you did. I was just giving my critique. Mine at least had a reason for it, making it more constructive than, "This is boring." with no explanation in several threads.

There really isn't much I want to spend them on this year.

I haven't been impressed with any of the kit modules of the past, and not sure I need to train my BOFFs with them. Well, if I want to revisit the Summer store, later, for training manuals...I will have plenty of favors left over.

Well, it got me to log in to get the ship. Mission accomplished

Was okay. I'm a little bored of it by now I guess. Think I'm on #5 for Risa Events.
Didn't really spend much time there this year tbh.
I bought a bunch of favours so I wouldn't have to grind.

I do enjoy the new costumes we can get every year. Space Barbie woooo

I thought the summer event was enjoyable. There are different activities to choose from, lots of players participating, & there's always something going on it seems. It's a shame about the day/night cycle being ruined, but hopefully that will be addressed in the future.
