So, as the above topic reads, which shipboard phasers do you prefer, Agony or Pulse phasers? And this is in general: I already can see the benefits of including a combination of both on a single ship.
I tried mixing Pulse (one fore and aft) with normal Phaser, and while the visual effects kinda mixed together fine in FAW to where the Pulse Phasers weren't really noticeable, the sound of the Pulse Phasers going off at the same time as normal Phaser grated on me. I'd recommend trying out using some cheap Pulse arrays before you commit to a mix. I've seen others running full Pulse, and the sound isn't so bad if all your weapons are those, IMO, it's just the mix of the two that's annoying.
When it comes to performance, keep in mind some recent fixes and nerfs affect both weapon types (well, only an indirect nerf to one), so there's unlikely a solid base as to which is 'better' mechanically currently. Proc rates using FAW were fixed to where they don't go off as much as the previous bugged state, so both are less likely to proc. I think they also poked the Temporal Spec's debuff for things that have a DoT on them (like the Agony would apply), so that'll bring down Agony Phaser on Temporal Spec builds compared to what they were before.
I use Agony on all but one of my Feds and enjoy them. Pulse is okay, and I mix the Pulse Omni with the Kelvin Phasers to keep the effects of pulses and bolts.

Honestly... they're both pretty decent. I wouldn't mix them so that I could maximize proc chance though. For example, having 6 Agony Phasers on a cruiser means you have the proc chance x6 beam arrays since each one has a chance to proc. Same with the Pulse Phasers.
So x% chance per beam array. You want x% x3 of one with x% x3 of another, or do you want x% x6 of one?
Honestly its personal preference. Although having a psudo rainbow build is kinda fun to watch. All different beam colors but still doing the same damage type.
They're different tools for different jobs. I'd rather play a tanky cruiser than a control ship, so the extra damage resist from pulse phaser procs is irresistable to me.
My Tellarite uses Andorian phasers in space and assault hpasers on ground as my modern take on Starfleet - I like having fancy blue phasers on the 25th century ship models

Agony phasers were in the Mirror Incursion lockbox on PC. I don't know whether those have arrived on console yet or not.
Besides sounding awesome, they're pretty interesting for control builds. Their proc causes a Hold effect for a few seconds, a Snare effect for a few seconds after that, and 100% shield-penetrating damage over time throughout.

Cool, I like the blue look myself, so pretty. and the tos sound rocks.
The Andorian and assault phasers have default-ish sounds, no tos scree. I like the tos sound but for STOs rapid continious fire gameplay it's a bit too much xD

I prefer pulse over regular for dual beam banks on escorts. Cannons have never felt quite right to me and full beams can be quite busy visually so pulse straddles the gap fairly well. Although the sound they have is a bit weedy.
Still miles better than the jarjar spitters though.
I keep seeing what looks like blue pulse beams but can't for the life of me figure out what they are, let alone where to get them.

Vaadwaur Polaron, maybe? They have a pulse bolt in between Pulse Phasers and Kelvin Timeline Phaser Emitters, for both their 'beam' emitters and cannons. Pretty expensive and rare nowadays.

I am fond of Xindi Phased Biomatter for the Blue Beams.
My old Fed Tact has the old Omega Rep Phasers with the [Borg] proc, but he is usering Fluidic AP at the noment.

Will dredge through banks tomorrow.
