Even during the Dominion War, not every Star Trek episode was about the main storyline. Sometimes, there was a break.
On Voyager, not every episode revolved around, "Hey, there might be a new way to get home." Sometimes, there was a break.
So would we want a "break episode" that stands on its own, is only related to the main story in a roundabout way (someone mentions the current storyline) and offers a break in the main storyline?
Possible ideas:
Captain Proton--holodeck novel that, because it's Star Trek, breaks down and becomes dangerous.
Q--of course, being Q.
Science episode--Something bad is happening that will wipe out a planet.
Alternate universe episode
One of the many Tellarite Goddesses of Beauty!

For the moment, yes. However, it could very well become a "Chekhov's Gun" later on.

True, although, I thought it's purpose was to tie up the alt T'Nae loose end from "Temporal Ambassador" and possibly close out Sela's story arc.

Or something where we see the Federation Council. A diplomatic mission with the Voth resistance. The creation of our own Iconian gateway network.
Something that shows further development of the Federation and its worlds.
Or, if an outward look must be maintained, maybe we could explore the homeworld of the Uuli.
Something that doesn't have a lot to do with the major storylines could be fun and interesting indeed.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!

That said ...
Gorn mission please
the solanae have ceased all hostile actions against the galaxy and are (presumably) assisting the iconians with rebuilding their homeworld - they are not likely to be seen again, even as part of something sciency, unless it involves aiding us adapting a lukari genesis device to insta-restore iconia (why not, since the first test worked so well)
#LegalizeAwoo
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch."
"We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
If I'm not mistaken, the Alliance has access to two Dyson Spheres and used to know about maybe a handful of scattered gateways - most of which are either destroyed (such as during the Dominion war, the Brea episode, New Romulus) or soon to be lost (the one on Nopada).
The only places that granted access to the entire network are either no longer accessible (such as the 'Unknown location' in Sphere of Influence) or had never been accessible to the Alliance as they were operated by the Iconians themselves (M'Tara's flagship).
Taking all that into account, an effort to help the Iconians with rebuilding their homeworld or at least seeing how things are developing there and exploring the options that become available when we could use their entire network with their permission could be interesting.
also think a space station/colony/housing system designed, so a player have choose there own breather missions would a good thng for cyptic to look into.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
