I vote for YES! Weekly devstream. Warframe has been doing a weekly stream that they giveaway their platinum (their dilithium/zen) Prime packs, and much more. They also answer questions and explain about their reasons for upcoming changes.

I kinda want the same thing for STO. Imagine what could get done with that.

    LOL, no thanks.
Last time I attended an STO livestream they gave away RMC's, then pulled them at the last minute when they realized too many players would get them free and cut into their profits selling them, or using them to bait players into attending the next stream.

Every convo I have watched with Crytpic devs involved has bored me to tears. Except for one time when Sarcasm was talking ship stuff with I think Borticus...and they were totally getting into it.

    Sorry, Devs.

Agreed. It improves the dev-to-player communication and if they can make it fun.. yeah. Would watch.

DE does a devstream frequently for warframe and even has 2 versions of it for EU and US, doing devstreams would give a cryptic bit of transparency and forewarning about what's coming and the changes that would bring.

NO! I don't care about devstreams.
The live stream with the Red Matter Capacitor giveaway quickly turned into a fiasco. Others with Captain Smirk showed just how inept he was with the game. From the tone of the original post, it sounds more like someone asking for more free stuff rather than actually engaging the Dev team in conversation about the current and future state of STO.

Spartan used to come to The Science Channel in game. Haven't seen him in a long while in there. And while he was there, people were busy trolling or harassing him. It could not have been fun. So I completely understand them not wanting to do a live stream.

Actually getting free stuff isn't the main point of the dev stream. Getting 500-750 zen, a RMC, a random ship bundle, or even a month gold subscription would be nice. All of it doesn't have to happen EVERY stream, but to keep players interested, giveaways show the community that you do care and aren't just reading a script and going through the motions.

Do you think DE/Warframe cares if they give away a $150 bundle every week during a livestream? No. They do it because it shows the community they enjoy the game as much as the next player.

Sometimes seeing what other companies are doing to RETAIN the players can help your company retain their players.

Have you played STO long enough to observe how this Community reacts whenever something is given away by Cryptic? People come in here and complain endlessly about how they didn't get what they wanted. I have gotten two free email ships. The rancor and trolling I recieved while using them ruined any possible entertainment value they have. Cryptic gives away free stuff on the anniversary of STO each year. All players need to do is log in to get it. The Winter and Summer Events feature free ships which only require the player to participate in some simple and fun ingame activities.

Have you played STO long enough to observe how this Community reacts whenever they see or even get a hint of a Dev playing the game on Holodeck? I can remember when BranFlakes and a few others would PvP quite often. This hasn't happened in a long time. I don't expect it to happen again.

Have you played STO long enough to remember the "17x" debacle. When Delta Rising was released with an exploit? When the people testing it on Tribble explained the Devs about the exploit prior to release to Holodeck? When players who did nothing at all were punished by Cryptic because they had similar names to people who jumped on the exploit?

More questions about 'how other companies retain their customers'. Is Warframe F2P? How much of the best gear is deliberately locked behind a paywall? IIRC, Warframe is a subscription, isn't it? Like SWTOR? Like EVE? Tried World of Tanks, which is owned by the same company isn't it? Realized very quickly I had to spend gobs of cash to play. There really isn't any way to avoid spending cash if I want to have a meaningful and enjoyable game experience, is there?

Rattler2 purchased a 16,000 Zen pack just by playing STO. And it did not take him years to do so. I still think this poll is more about getting free stuff than anything else. Giving away US $150.00 worth of gear is easy to do. It is also a lure to get more people into subscribing. How much of these giveaways are things which people really want? No point in getting a Spitfire Mk II if everyone else has Me 262s is there? Nothing at all in STO is paywalled. If I choose to put in the time, I can purchase everything available in this game without spending RL Currency.

As to a live stream from the Devs, yes I'd like to see something like this once in awhile. But I think the Dev Team's time is more productively spent working on the game rather than bribing players with free giveaways which most players will be unable to acquire anyway.

All those games you listed are are F2P and ive never spent money on any of them and had a great time. World of Tanks is Wargaming Inc which does not own any of the games you listed.

DE does a lot of stuff quite well (superb-player-to-dev communication among many things, yes), and honestly a lot of the gaming-industry companies should take them as an example. Their F2P model is one of the most generous/fair I've seen in last decade. 'Nuff said.

Seriously....I used to listen to Devs "streaming" or being interviewed....but they are sooo stifled about WHAT THEY CAN TELL ANYONE...you are NOT going to get any useful information. They can't talk about it.

Plus, their jobs are so compartmentalized...if they didn't work on it or on that particular part of it, they can't give any details, anyways.

It is a waste of their time and a waste of player's time. Let them do their work.

Have you even played any of the games you mentioned? I can say for certainty that Warframe has the BEST F2P models of almost any MMO. The ENTIRE game is free. EVERYTHING in the game can be gotten in game without spending a single dime. No paywalls. Need extra space for weapons? Just trade a few prime parts for the Platinum, then done. They devs at DE even said and I quote, "If you want to spend money on the game, fine. If you don't want to spend a single dime, fine. You can get the same thing no matter what. But buying from us does support us. But we understand if you just don't have the money. It won't stop you from getting everything you want in the game"

As for the giveaways that DE does, they are of course $150 Prime pack with weapons, a Prime frame, glyphs, and the current sentinel Helios Prime. And YES!!! People do want these giveaways. I have seen one guy get asked if he could use it, and he was so excited he immediately starting playing the game before the devstream was over. If nothing at all in STO was paywalled, why is there a lobi store, and the ships you can ONLY get from the zen store? You have to PAY TO GET THE ITEM.

on sto having a pay wall cause the cstore and lobi exist. I have a command ship three pack, among others, on one of them I have the silent enemy set. which wasn't my best idea but didn't cost me a single cent for either.

sto has many. many flaws. having to pay for anything is not one of them.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Because you don't have to buy Zen with real money. You can convert Dilithium into Zen, and then buy items from the C-Store. You earn Dilithium just by playing the game. Play -> Dilithium -> Zen, simple as that. There's almost nothing in-game that cannot be earned for free.

I think once i a while could be nice, just to hear from the horse's mouth so to speak what they have planned in the near future.

Anything to get the devs more involved with the players would be great to be honest.

I know several do get really involved with players, the art team and ship designers are often seen on Reddit.
And TSC members will know that at least one dev likes to drop in regularly and hang out with us and even answer questions if people have problems, something we are always grateful for.

Don't have to be giveaways really, though i guess it might drum up viewer numbers.

The above statement I used from your last post publicly displays an embarrassing lack of knowledge about this game. I'll try to explain it so you can understand.

Lockbox keys can only be purchased with Zen. There is a procedure in STO whereby Dilthium can be converted into Zen. This is called the Dilthium Exchange. Converting Dilthium into Zen via this Exchange allows a player to purchase Zen.

Lobi comes from Lockboxes. If I open enough boxes, I will have enough Lobi

As I stated earlier, Rattler2 purchased a 16,000 Zen Legacy of Romulus pack by playing STO enough to acquire a sufficient amount of Dilithium to convert into Zen.

People posting in these forums about how STO should be just like every other game out there and how much better it would be if it did things like the other games do gets a little tiresome after while. If those games are so very much better than STO, then why are you playing this one?

Because STO costs nothing at all to play.

I stand by my original assessment: You could give a flying rodent's posterior about interacting with the Dev Team.
You're only begging for free stuff. Dressing it up in a "helpful suggestion" merely makes it wordy.

YES! Make a dev stream weekly telling us about the changes and upcoming content, answering questions, do giveaways, and much more.

You don't know what I want. I want to be able to interact and talk with the devs about the game I want to enjoy. Doing giveaways is just something to retain and gain players. And I don't BEG for free stuff. I EARN my stuff. Being able to be given the chance to win free stuff is fun and EVERYONE wants free stuff. But the most important thing is TRANSPARENCY from the devs. The players just want the devs to be honest about their game content and be able to talk with them.

Maybe it's because they aren't doing these devstreams and not giving you free stuff, you don't care about devstreams. There are more than enough people that wants the devstreams showing players upcoming content, plans for updates, communication with the players beyond forum posts and fictional (useless) blogs, and showing players they are more than just nerf happy devs sitting behind a desk laughing at those players who are leaving the game out of frustration.
