hey devs, could you please make rebel faction ships like "Val Jean" class?

wylonuswylonus Member Posts: 471 Arc User
ideal for small crew missions, they are slightly bigger than single fighter wings, almost smaller than Defiant class.

right now we are dealing with Lukari and "Tzen" chapters, hopefully we can shed a light/opening on rebel saga of federation humans and others went rouge and not happy with rule regulations, became dissatisified or not getting the ranks they think they deserved.

some of these ship do look awesome.

maybe to play a rouge captian?

Do you mean the Maquis? As an organization, they were destroyed during the Dominion War (see. VOY and DS9). Plus their original grievance (settlement negotiations with the Cardassians) isn't really a factor in 2411. That particular Cardassian government no longer exists and while the True Way may be a threat it doesn't have the same political complication that the old Maquis had to deal with. Starfleet isn't reluctant to intervene (see. what we did in the Cardassian arc.)

So, I don't really take it for granted that a Federation rebel faction exists. One could always be written in, but it would probably be a significant depature for how cryptic presumably envisions FED life in the Alpha Quadrant.

Closest thing to a rebel faction is the Terran Empire since they show that not all 25th Century humans sing Kumbaya and try to get along with everyone. Personally, I rather have Amar Singh and/or James Fadi Mehra and introduce a Children of Khan story arc rather than a Maquis ripoff.

doesn't mean the ships can't be added; the raider was a pretty decently powerful ship for its size once armed (it used to be an unarmed courier ship)

Hmm, rebel lock box would seem like the way to do that. Opens the door too to other rebel paraphernalia.

that what i mean, there are someone who may have ship blueprints or some newer 'company' revive ship building for small messenger ships with important small cargoes or racing Space Nascar as Tom Paris did on Voyeger episode.
they can be upgraded to smuggling escorts, they come in swarms and beam items they steal from larger ships or specific target officers to kidnap,

also Rebel Box sound like good idea and how about Profiteer Box for pirates story arc.

Wasn't the val jean about the size of a shuttle? Wouldn't it be a shuttle?

Technically could make them raiders that unlock an alternative Frigate pet for ships that can use Frigates as pets.

It can easily be done. Look at all the genocide we've committed so far, hell we even started the Temporal Cold War.

OK, as I understand it, the OP is asking for a ship, not a faction. That being said, yes, I'd love to have a Maquis raider akin to the Val Jean. Perhaps as a Summer Event offering.

But that information, at this time, is only known to Captain Player, so it could not serve as a justification.

The Maquis started when people were displaced as the result of the peace treaty with the Cardassians. And the Maquis got truly crushed in the Dominion war, so very few of those were left.

Also, a "rebel" faction with the federation could not be done justice with the game as it is, so let's just drop that notion. Only bad things could come out of it if it was actually done in STO.

The Krenim knew, so you can bet the Vorgons, Sphere builders and the Terran Empire know too.

Cryptic/PWE has a hard enough time keeping the KDF and Romulans up with the Federation Joneses. The only reason I'm guessing the AoY faction was added is because it fits right in with Feds directly so they're the best non-Fed fed faction out there with full on support.

Sure, but absolutely no 25th century in the STO prime universe people whatsoever did.

Or there's a data leak. Any one of the temporal rebels could let the basic fact of the war slip to sow discord in the Alliance.

I didn't even know there was a ship called Val Jean, the only time i heard that reference was in the DS9 episodes regarding Michael Eddington and his fascination with Les Misérables.

note, in place of rebels they could make a defector subfactions who switched sides back during the newest fed/klingon war. it has happened both in sto and star trek as a whole. have one or two older ships that technically could belong to the other faction as "stolen" designs at the start and at T-6.

and the undine storyline from the start of the game could easily cause the same kinds problems that caused the Maquis to form. granted it is very late to be actually focusing on one of the major bits of backstory to the game.

or they could just add them as part of a ds9 focused storyline line. which ever.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

I find it revolting that people keep using this term in such a incorrect context.

At no point in STO have we committed "genocide" against any species. And given the level of technology the Star Trek unvierse has, we have achieved most victories with surprisingly little death compared to any similar conflict such as the Dominion War.

Also, we did not start the Temporal Cold War. The Na'Kuhl did by attacking the Tholians in the past, which was a response to the The Tholians attacking them in the present, which was a response to the Na'Kuhl attacking the Tholians in the past, as part of a predestination paradox of their own causing. Stemming from an endless cycle of petty revenge.

The Na'Kuhl/Tholians are also partially responsible for the Vorgons coming into the war, as Kal Dano's time traveling into the past, in an attempt to fix his home star using the Tox Uthat, is partially behind the situation that led to Abjur dying, and thus, what caused Boratus to get involved with The Envoy.

And the Sphere Builders situation was the result of an accident, combined with their own problems of taking the morally low road, and attempting to kill everyone that isn't them in revenge for said accident. Had the Sphere Builders taken the higher path, the Federation would have very likely aided them in developing some sort of space station, similar to the Solanae station the Iconians attempted to build during the Iconian War, that would have terraformed a region of normal space for them to live in. But no, they just had to try to KILL EVERYONE! And, ironically enough, their attempts to destroy Earth before the Federation was formed, ultimately led to the Federation being formed as it was, making the Sphere Builders themselves responsible for the very accident that caused them to have to live in subspace to begin with, in yet another large scale predestination paradox caused by their own pettiness.

We may not have 'committed' the genocide the Sphere builders unleashed on multiple realities but we are the cause of it.

    Completely and utterly false.

The only "cause" behind the Sphere builder's genocide is their own lack of morals and ethics. The fact that they could very well have gone on without doing it makes it their own fault, and no one elses.

    which was caused by?

This own lack of morals and ethics, and their refusal to try to take a more peaceful solution to their problems, of which, they themselves were responsible for causing as the head researcher on the Annorax project was one of their own if you recall, in favor of taking the lesser path of petty revenge.

Same as Sela, the Iconians, the Tholians, the Na'Kuhl, and B'vat(though B'vat may have known exactly everything behind what was going on so he was doing it more because it had to be done).

You're right ... my bad. It was her idea to fire the weapon at the Borg gateway. (played the mission again - still not sure why deleting the gate got rid of the Borg ... surely they would have built that after arriving)
