Playable Borg Ships - This was the running joke ever since STO launched.

As long as it fits it is not 'jumping the shark'. One cannot jump over what little plot there is.

what do you mean "as long as it fits"? they make anything "fit" by writing a single line of text in each annoucement.

He means as long as it's not the kinds of things I listed, like an Imperial Star Destroyer or a Cylon Basestar.

so what would actually jump the shark for STO?

You've been around as long as me. Don't you know by now that nothing is ever going to be off limits? The game will scale with the content like it always does and always remember that next shiney is only shining at the moment. It will be outshined. Just like Soundgarden.

    Yes. Any Star Trek material.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

That has already happened, depending on how you want to look at it.

It started officially with the Jem'hadar attack ship, but you can also look at it that it happened with the Klingons and the Kar'fi since that wasn't one of their ships or an ally ship of theirs.

Yes. Yes, it has. Which was about the time that I waved at that shark as I passed by overhead.

Remember the outrage about the Undine lockbox?

No, because you weren't there at this point or you forgot? Well, that's the point.

I started playing just after Season 9 dropped, although I didn't really start posting on the forums until around DR. Regardless, I have seen threads about almost every new thing in the game that said that this was the final straw, that this spelled (clears throat) "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" for the game. Nothing ever came of those predictions. Nothing will this time either.

Absolutely nothing. The avalanche started a while ago and players (for the most part) made it perfectly clear that they were fine with it. The 26th Century Dreadnought promo does not come as a surprise to me, and anyone who hates the idea of them becoming playable but were perfectly fine with a myriad of other starships over the past few years becoming playable have really waived their right to a respectable opinion.

Even if Cryptic came out with playable Borg ships, those of you whining about how it'll be the "last straw" will be right back here the next day to play STO or complain about it on the forums, and you'll still be giving the game your support and money.

I've seen too many threads where "Most Recent Playable Spaceship" is the death knell of STO and the final nail in the coffin, and where the game has finally jumped the shark. But here we are, years later. We have another expansion in the works, and there's absolutely no sign that the game is entering a "maintainance mode". The game has been ported to PS4 and X-Bone within the last year, and devs wouldn't bother devoting the time and money to that kind of project if there wasn't some cash left to milk from this cow.

At this point it's just whining. There's no legitimate concern. No legitimate criticism. It's just fabricated outrage because we have to get internet angry over something.

100% agree with all of this.

What would jump the shark for STO players is T7 Starships. I don't think many people are going stick around to pay $75 for a endgame ship.

While I don't feel that T7s would be "jumping the shark", I won't stick around when T7s come around.

The OP not posting any more ree-donkulous threads such as this one and the marriage thing. That would surely jump the shark.

with todays announcement about making the enterprise J a playable ship, i started to wonder:

what would actually jump the shark for STO?
people used to say it would be an end game connie, but we have that now.
other people used to say the enterprise J could never be playable, but here it is.
so what would actually jump the shark for STO?

STO is on it's 2nd shark jump with the 1701-J now.
Only thing left I can think of is playable Borg Cube.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

    Nothing really would.

STO is just filled with nerds who act as if a computer game with some Enterprise ships in it (let it be without any letter or an J attached to the registry) would be something worth mentioning in the fox news.

Threads like this one are embarrassing and make me wish I had chosen a different hobby, sorry.

Is this a less than subtle doom thread?

Reaction threads like this might imply it will be another very succesful promotion for Cryptic, based on their past experience with it.

Might get me to to invest in promotion packs once again, and I don't even think I'll play the ship for long.

    is T7 Starships.

It's inevitable tho. But Cryptic needs to sweeten up that pill pretty good. But come to think of it, I think when DSC launches they will have another grace period where they can reset the game again w/o any repercussion.

Won't be pretty that's fo shur... stockpile on zen.
