As I stated earlier I hate ground combat in STO, however I'm participating in the event for the kit module. Only wanted to get to round 5 so I could get the voucher and go do something I actually find fun, yesterday that worked out great but today unfortunately I got stuck with a decent group ... did everything I could to sabotage the run early but my group mates were still able to get to round 29 even though I kept standing in the bad and another group member was spending the entire run on the ground spamming for help ... so three decent players carried us all the way to round 29.
If you ever do a similar event, could you please give us a short, five round only version for the vouchers? Also, I would find this kind of instance incredibly entertaining if it was space combat instead ... space is the only thing I play this game for anymore.
400 is hardly so impressive if the difficulty doesnt scale up past 105...

You should have been able to do this to Round 1,000 Solo, blindfolded, with just a Bat'Leth if you are truly a Warrior.

I don't get something. If all you want to do is go to 5 and wipe for the kit, why PUG? Just get a group together who feels likewise and do it. That way you are maintaining your fun while not interfering with someone else's fun.

400 rounds and only 220 marks??? The rewards for the Arena certainly are not ballanced....
I saw on Reddit it took 5 hours to do 400 rounds. In a battlezone you can easly get a couple thousand marks in the same time. They have a few other things to fix next time they run the Arena event, like the crappy rewards and broken mines and such.
Otherwise it was a fun event. They need more content like this.
I love the Sompek Arena. I know it's an event, but I would like to see it added to the PVE queues permanently. I made it to level 75 with one team and 70 with another.
I love the premise, hazards & map and when combat actually occurred, I enjoyed myself. That said, the wait times between rounds is broken to the point of ridiculousness. Why on Earth would this be released in this state? Such a shame as this could have been a fun event to promote ground combat but as-is, all it's accomplishing is pushing people farther away from participating in more ground maps and frustrating the hell out of people.
Sorry to be so negative but this honestly is just no fun in it's current state and is counter productive to say the least. Please fix this and give us a re-do. Thanks.

Someone once suggested that folks should try playing all of STO's ground "naked" with a nothing but a Bat'Leth and all of space with only a T1 Connie. I know the T1 Connie thing has been tried, but not the "naked" ground.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with disliking ground combat in this game, I've been very vocal about my disgust with how it was designed. Creating an event that involves participating in a potentially endless ground combat instance is just asking for people like me who despise the ground game to do everything in our power to end the run once the required rounds have been completed.
I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun, the simple fact is I don't want anything to do with the arena or ground combat itself for that matter, but I find the kit interesting so I'm pursuing it. Don't worry though, tomorrow I'm just going to go in chat and find a voucher run so that everyone is willing to suicide after round 4 is completed.

The sheer amount of trolls and afk-ers seriously drains the fun out of a good setup.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Well, taking this position to apologize to a group I was in two days ago I was Patch-E character.
I didn't mean badly but we were confused if we are supposed to finish early or long last as possible (I wanted to long last, sportive run but there was an issue) and since it confused me (and I think some others, as it seems by action/result) we act according to that confusion (one asked to die at level 5).
Know I didn't mean to have anybody drop and not getting vouchers Also didn't mean to force "sabotage"/force long last or do what the group did not want to. My very inconsistent behavior in that run was due to the fact I didn't know what to do and what the group expected me to decide, according to what I saw going on. To make things worse, sometimes when I went passive (to try to help the group finish as they seemed to want it at that point), somehow I lived, too, and when tried to fight (when I saw others fight seemingly more inclined to long lasting run then) I was dying (note I am not a good player)
I was really sad of the possibility of one didn't get his/her vouchers then, and apologize if I was a part of the cause (possibly, even probably, but not by meaning to) I am sorry.
Note: While being a non pro player, I still really preferred to have fun and sport, trying (and I had the vouchers already), and had the time and mood for that. But I realize sometimes there may be an issue which might make others kicked or some bugs, and that others are not always the same as myself in their view/goals or desires.
Also to clarify I was really enjoying the event (beside on the day I related to above)
Had some amazing groups of players and had a lot of fun
Tried to res others but mostly couldn't see (did what I could, ressed a few times too), others res me, it was a team work in a very friendly way. We were non pro (TBH I am a newbie), but we had fun! and very nice accomplishments (and some titles on 2 characters)
Note that if people put a team work (even if non effectively/ideally, even if non pro) and friendly environment (sometimes cheerful and very sportive even) in which they try their best, I could have fun even in a very low count of rounds (in those cases though, we didn't have a very low count at all, so speaking generally)
In that regard, saying thanks to my friends for an awsomely fun friendly supportive runs, saying also thanks for another awsome cheerful group which lasted 44 rounds in fun and teamwork despite some difficulties of two people and despite being 4 almost since the start. Good job all.
P.S.
I think the time window for 3/3 voucher is a little short (I got my kits but not all could ) and also would wish a bit longer opening of this arena, for fun.
I'd quit from boredom long before reaching 100! 3 hours is way too long and needs to be cut in half at the very least! The time between rounds should be based on when the last enemy dies to the start of the next round, say... 15. I have been in a few instances where there seems to be a 10 or so second delay in the map recognizing a respawn, thus ending the match even though other players had spawned already and dropped from the respawn cages.
To add a bit of challenge and help, fun, and help for those who need it. I'd like to see some sort of addition where players can trigger things to happen, kind of like in the Romulan mission where you kill the big creature before escaping. Whether hitting a button on each side opens up some turrets to help you out or activates a healing station or something or a lightning umbrella over the center of the map, would add an element to this style of play.
That said, the challenge is fun up to about level 40 or so. That was the point for me where it definitely crossed the threshold into extreme boredom. That necessarily isn't the fault of the map and the play style. It just means lengthy repetitive gameplay isn't for me.
\... did everything I could to sabotage the run early ... space is the only thing I play this game for anymore.
If you only care about space then why did you even bother doing the event for a GROUND item?
Try STARTING YOUR OWN RUN next time. I'm sure there are plenty of players who wish to collect vouchers.
Just name it 'Voucher Farming'
It looks cool, and story missions almost always have some ground combat anyway. As I already mentioned, I didn't think of creating a farm group until I was well into my second run, on my pug voucher run the day before everyone just died at round 5 anyway so i didn't think I had anything to worry about. A premade voucher run is definitely what I'll be doing for my last voucher though.
Personally, I like most of it. It's fun, especially if you don't get plagued by the long waiting time thingie.
Also, it makes science officers useful, unlike most of the PvE queues, as they can heal, resurrect faster and greatly debuff the enemies to make things easier if your team doesn't have someone nearly one-shotting everything.
While I don't think it should be made permanent as people will end up getting bored eventually, I believe making it a monthly or even bi-weekly event would be nice, especially if we get different maps in a row.
And also, boost the rewards, devs, don't stop giving additional marks at wave ~60.
As I mentioned in another thread, one nice idea for a map could be a desolate landscape, under heavy rain and thunder.
Other ideas:
-a complete warp core room of a Romulan Warbird
-a trashed Club 47
-an Iconian arena, so T'Ket can have her bloodlust sated
-a Borg complex
-Virinat under attack
-a new arena of the Dyson Sphere
-a place made exclusively of tribble colonies
-Gre'thor
-a Tuterian Sphere
-Neelix' kitchen from hell
-the crashed saucer of the Enterprise-D
-a Lukari Prime plaza
My record was 55, but I'm not pugging this again. Being cursed out by immature jerks who can't stand losing, blaming the one or two people that actually saved the run a couple of times killed every fun I had. Never witnessed people actually sabotaging or even asking for a leave, but Ihad a few tantrum throwing competitionists I handed plenty of ingores to.

That looks much nicer. My game stopped drawing water sometime in december and it remains invisible. Even them patchnotes saying they supposedly fixed it, didn't fix it.

Yes, that's dirty water (at least I think it is) where a mini maelstrom can form during the hazard waves to drag you in the center right in the open so enemies can shoot you more easily.

Really? So apparently this gameplay feature is also invisible to me. I always did wonder why the center had the hazard warning holos when nothing ever happened there.
Of course it's dirty water. Where do you think that stuff that came out of your pants went when you saw all those Tholians or Vaadwaur Jumpers.

I actually have fun in this run, made several runs, past 50, 60 and 70 now. Its quite challeging and instead of just running to kill stuff, being in a good party really makes it challeging and fun. Support scis are really usefull and my buddys the blue engeneers group keept me in the race alot. It's quite a challenge and even in some random runs i had some luck with party and alot of fun. The hazards really hate me, which brings some real pressure when combined with specific mob spawning. The diversity of mobs and the total random, makes it a joy when u run with friends or even random. One moment almost everyone is dead, and 10 seconds later people are back in. Some sci's really support with quick ressses en healing.
Still trying to get to round 100, you can let this event come back more often.
And its not really time scripted, or having a "Kurland here". The mine issue could be used to create a pauze in between, otherwise it could be annoying.
