Yes, to be honest I hadn't thought about this until I read this thread, but come to think of it I too would like something other than ships as a focus for a time.
I used to go "OO OO! I must have the new shiny!" But now I have many shinies, and many many ships, I find myself concentrating on upgrades and fleet stuff only these days.
Not that I don't still have eyes on a few ships (I certainly do).
Something new and well thought out to add new dimension would be cool.
Not that I'm unhappy with the game at all, I have plenty to keep me busy currently and I'm enjoying it.

    Yeah, this exactly.

Hover cars, jet packs, jet boots, (make em float in esd like drones) species respects, REAL awesome looking battle suits.

New and exotic species, non humanoid playable species, holographic characters... Characters that float instead of walk, if you will.

Borg expansion pack for those who play liberated borgs, or everyone - things like borg prosthetics for the arm, that shoot weapns fire, or have those whirling thingamajigs on em.

Ship customization options/packs with cool new looking visuals that can me applied to ships we already own, Character customization packs again with cool science techy visuals.

I'm thinking there can be literally all sorts of things. I mean we do get these type of things in drips and drabs as lobi/rep unlocks, I'm just getting a little burnt out with ships personally.

Thought that perhaps a discussion my flesh out some ideas maybe.

And I know they make the game lots of money.

    But I'm reachin saturation personally.

I mean I like ships and all, but It almost feels like a lack of imagination sometimes. There has to be something else that's cool they can sell too.

Why not sell more playable species unlocks too? (aligned with current factions of course).

Something unusual for a playable species, like Tholian, playable holograms or some entirely new kinda species for a change.

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

No, you're certainly not the only one. :)

Personally, even more playable species isn't really my thing (as it means training and gearing up yet another alt I can't afford, LOL). But I would, for instance, love to have a portable Holo-Emitter! The kind you slot as a personal device, and then you're holo. :) Or to cast a holo 'warp-shadow' copy of yourself, as it were, which you can summon for a short period, in battle, to assist you.

Speaking of holo, I also liked the idea of the old, consumable ship holo emitters (are they still in game?); but then reliable ones (and not 'scammed' ones, which you buy and then only have like 5 minutes left on them).

Just look at the movies nowadays. Everything's a reboot or sequel. Making new things is hard. :'( And people are lazy.

And even when they do they sometimes take a lazy route and come up with something that was best left in an art book or drawing board. I'm looking at you Fed/KDF hybrid in the past....

I actually LIKE that design, quite of few folks do.

It's okay. This is a free country, so you're allowed to be wrong.

No, it doesn't. In fact, I never really got why people say "it's Klingon" or "a Klingon hybrid" and even if I at one point that comparison myself it's stupid. Just because there is a basic shape used that Klingon designs used as well (which they don't, the D7 is not a chevron) the Discovery's body is a Starfleet chevron. The round primary hull makes it approximate the IDIC symbology, if anything. However, I still find it difficult to look at, not to say atrocious. It's... not good designed to fuse so many anachronistic designs (for the time, we have ENT aesthetics having to bridge the gap to TOS aesthetically - this doesn't happen here) and opposite shapes together in my opinion. Although I have to sy, it really doesn't help that the actual CGI we see of the ship looks like it has been crafted in the Unreal engine in 1998.

To me, the Discovery looks like something out of them ueber-cheap looking SciFi movies they made in the sixties, all with cardboard, and thin copper which was rushed to fit the mold. It's a travesty, pure and simple. Shamelessly lo-tech, as in "It's Trek, so we'll probably get away with it regardless."

off topic as it is, have you all seen the latest trailer?? the ship diagram looks like an akira with STO's "2410 nacelle" from the CBCs

as for the topic, I would love to see other things finally reach this game, such as:
Hover cars, jet packs, jet boots, (make em float in esd like drones) species respects, REAL awesome looking battle suits.

    Tailor restriction removals
Player housing and customization of such
Make/Customize ship interiors and plonk NPCs in them
    much more

@meimeitoo I think it looks like a Klingon d7 turned upside down with a constitution saucer glued onto a short neck. Cause recycling is fun.
