So what happened to the L.S.S. Concordium?

psycoticvulcanpsycoticvulcan Member Posts: 4,160 Arc User
We barely got a glimpse of that ship before it got replaced by the shiny new one. I get that the Reskava design wasn't ready in time for "Echoes of Light", but it seems a bit weird to introduce a new ship and then immediately replace it. It would be nice if the Concordium got another appearance or two somewhere, if only in a "passing the torch" scene.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

The Concordium was just something the Lukari picked up from other species, IIRC (it used the model of a generic alien science vessel). The best way to describe it is "stop-gap measure." The Reskava is the first FED-style starship the Lukari have designed themselves (it's hugely more significant for them.)

Personally, I like this arc as is. It shows development in the Lukari species (first intent, then execution) with two art choices and some dialog prompts. :)

Wasn't that the old gorn ship S'tass gave the Lukari?

Yes, but it just seems weird for it to be introduced and then immediately replaced in the very next mission with no acknowledgement whatsoever. We're never even told that it was a Gorn ship. Just a mention somewhere would be nice.

(And honestly, I like the Concordium design way more than the Reskava. :P)

At the start of the new mission you can ask about the new ship

    This ^^
I said something similar before. Two maiden voyages was too weird. Then someone told me I missed one of the News update stories. So...

They wouldn't have ever kept it around.

    Concordium
    800px-LSS_Concordium.png?version=3ef46dc20ddd0fa596f6a37fe2ce7fef

Generic Science Vessel (it's from launch)
    Type_VII_Commercial_Laboratory.png?version=60546ce94c3288f02199b2097344f7c1

The Concordium is pretty much there to establish the need for the Reskava, so the launch of the latter vessel isn't a tremendous turnaround for the species, as it was depicted in Echoes of Light. It was just a stepping stone, using a ship that's basically screaming "I am a placeholder for something that we need more time to build!" The "maiden voyages" ship is the Reskava. :p

I'll tell you what happened to it. After they parked it and left it after their first mission to show everyone their findings some enterprising engineer came along and stole the nacells and left it on cinder blocks. It's a rough neighborhood when you have Ferengi as neighbors. Got a lot of latinum though for selling the nacells I lif... errr found on some abandoned ship and sold to em. They'll take anything you'll find if they think it's valuable.

They did what many players -who spent some money or were here during a giveaway- do: they got rid of their Miranda and grabbed their Connie/NX after their tutorial.

I am sure we will se it again eventually... After all, it was a Gift from the Gorn, and one of only two fully functional Lukari interstellar ships, so... Heck... Even United Earth had their most basic ships hopping around space near themselves.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Poor little Lukari, they're having to mass produce their new flagship for the thousands of players who'll earn one in a few weeks time. I bet they hate Q.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Perhaps they can get the Deferi to help balance them out.
