I already have this item. Still it was appreciated when I picked it up in the giveaway I got it in. And I bet players who didn't have it appreciate it as well. Will look forward to at least picking up the giveaways until I can get a new video card for my desktop. I can launch it on my laptop and go to the store, but playing on my laptop is impossible as it lags, badly.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

Would be nice if people who already own the giveaway received a Phoenix prize pack or something instead, maybe next year Cryptic?

Aye, it's awesome what they're doing, but I'm starting off being "gifted" something I already have. Hell, it's one of the only C-store outfit packs I own! Maybe Intel or Mercenary will pop up later, as they're also cross-factional outfits with a lot of toys to play with.

But agreed, a Phoenix Pack would've been nice. Or maybe a bound infinity lockbox with a bound key to open it with?

Still, they're handing out free stuff so I can't really complain. The suits looks fantastic (my Saurian looks particularly dapper in his), so I'm sure there's plenty of excited players who are overjoyed to get it all for free. And who knows what the next days will bring?

I'd go for Mercenary. I grabbed Intel when it was also a giveaway.

Intel was a giveaway? When?

No idea - i know Section 31 was giveaway, but Intel i got with Delta Pack...
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,918 Arc User
Yikes. Looks like my brain wasn't awake yet. I mixed up the two. Apologies for the confusion. I blame lack of coffee. I was referring to Section 31.

Still would like Mercenary though lol

I appreciate the giveaways, though I already got this one from an earlier giveaway. Hoping the next few are things that haven't been offered for free before. Regardless, free stuff is always nice. :)

Pointless giveaway for me.I already have this item but thanks for nothing anyways.

Giveaways are nice, so thanks for that. But...
I have a solution to the "But I bought that already!" ranting.
Make the giveaway a box that gives the choice of the item or 20 lobi (or some masterkeys or etc.).
Because honestly, these giveaways mostly benefit those that don't spend money on STO and gives little to nothing to those that do.

So the amount of 'thanks' you get is inversely proportional to the amount of support you give to the game. That sound right to you? :'(

You do not need to encourage people who already spend. They are giving people a flavour of what they could get if they spend.

Exactly, thanks for giving those without the opportunity. People must realise that they are not losing out if they already have it, and shouldn't be demanding some pseudo-alternative compensation/free gift because they feel they are being wronged/left out/cheated or whichever way they feel aggreved. It's totally Cryptic's choice and they are NOT doing anything wrong.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Confirmed: Intel Uniform is free on store.
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,918 Arc User
I look forward to claiming that. I can't afford to get those expensive packs. So it's something that I don't already have. I appreciate all giveaways, as I am on a fixed budget. Even if I already have an item, I feel good for those who missed the last opportunity/weren't here/weren't members at the time who now have the opportunity to have them.

No one is demanding anything ... though Choclatstarfish does seem a little extra salty about it, he seems to be in the minority

Well said, and good idea for an alternative.

So Intel costume is Tuesday's free gift? Ok, well if that's true, then Day 2 of the Season 12 promotion, and I am still not able to participate. Thanks anyway. Congrats to those that are getting freebies.

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

I'm also on fixed budget (as in: 0 real money goes to any MMO that i play), and after 3 years of play F2P, i managed to get almost all important packs (still not own Romulan Legacy - got only the starter, also no Kumari Bundle, DS9 Pack, Steamrunner Bundle... i got all other packs and many single ships) - all thanks to Dilithium-Zen Exchange o:)
    P.S.
Now i must start saving Zen for coming Megabundle (the one that will be complementing Anniversary ship)...

German Page on STO - just switched language on News Page - it's looks like Germany Timezone is earlier by 1-2 hours than US...

Until now at least no one can complain about "and what about the klingons?" They picked all cross-faction outfits until now. Although I had them all anyways, it's nice for those who don't. Thanks for that!

Why did I not see any news feed on this promotion? I didn't know about this, until I checked the forums this morning, after it was over.
  • saber1973asaber1973a Member Posts: 1,225 Arc User
The news was on STO Site news page - just around 1-2 hours after the Giveaway started.
Of course i mean English news page:

Thank you, Cryptic, for the formal togs! And for these giveaways in general. There have been times I've already had something which was being offered, and sometimes I haven't. Each year, though, I sincerely thank you, because this is a kind and thoughtful gesture. I'm quick to applaud the actions I admire, and quick to denounce the ones of which I disapprove. I THOROUGHLY admire these giveaways.

I wish our BOFFs could wear off duty outfits, but that's a different matter. My Captains thank you for this. All of them!

Thanks for the formal wear, Cryptic.

Anyone who's complaining about the giveaway is automatically placed in the 'lowest of the low' category IMHO! It's free stuff whether you have it or not. Talk about looking the gift-horse in the mouth, and no, you shouldn't be offered an alternative if you already have it! Sheesh. Talk about entitled! I'm probably going to already have everything in this giveaway, but it matters not to me because I think it's great that those that don't have whatever comes their way can be a little pleased with it.

Oh be quiet. Some of us work blue collar jobs and can only play the game at certain times. And now stupid maintenan ce is taking away my option of getting the freebie. I am RIGHTLY PISSED.
  • crm14916crm14916 Member Posts: 1,535 Arc User
Be rightly pissed, dude... Seriously! But quit posting in every thread and ruining everyone else's party! Go to work already at your "blue collar job" and don't let a "silly game" ruin your day and possibly get you fired! Take a deep breath... It's just a game...
