I have had more than half a billion EC in my account bank before but I have been spending a lot of EC recently and it dropped below that a few weeks back. For some reason now that I have made some extra EC to put into my account bank, it tells me that my account bank can't exceed 500,000,000 (half a billion) EC. When was this change made and why? I have been a lifetime subscriber since the end of the open beta phase so it definitely isn't that.
More to the point, why does one need 1B EC? (I'm not suggesting one shouldn't have it, I just can't figure out what one does with that much. I must not have expensive tastes.)
What is the point of having a 1 billion EC cap per character when I can only move half of that around?
It seems to me that you can move it in a series of smaller transactions. If your response is "but that takes more time," then my rejoinder is "hey, what's the big hurry?"
I wouldn't call earning it hard work. I do buy the odd bunch of lotto R&D packs to sell with my monthly stipend. I don't usually open them because I never get anything decent out of them. It is better to buy them, sell them, and bank that EC for the things I actually want. A T6 TOS Connie costs about 1.5 billion EC in the private trade channels along with the T6 TOS D7, which I would like more.
Smaller increments of moving things around can cause me to miss out of something on the Exchange when it reaches a price range I can afford. If I have to move EC from different characters through the account bank more than once to get the EC I need for items. I may miss out on getting that item. This happens quite a bit when lock box ships first start hitting the Exchange.
