KDF Recruit 2017?

velquavelqua Member Posts: 1,220 Arc User
So far we have had the Delta and Agents of Yesterday Recruits. Could we see a KDF Recruit in 2017? Judging from the K-13 Part 3 bit and the Winter Event Klingon Ice Fishing, I would say that might be what lies on the horizon.

Calling it! KDF Recruit.

    Qapla! it will be glorious!

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

I would also like at least a KDF option for the next recruitment event.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Why do I suspect we are more likely to get a federation Klingon (ala worf) only event?

But I'd love a kdf recruit or option.

Based from what I saw, I'd say 22nd century human-only faction is a more likely candidate and you'll be one of the crewmen who was supposed to die during the Battle of Azati Prime.

Why? Because Walker talked about us checking Archer's records to know more about the Na'kuhl, then there was the Vosk incident with once again a mention to Archer, then there was the NX-01 Enterprise itself appearing during Vorgon Conclusions and there is potentially an upcoming T6 NX.

Definitely a new Fed/United Earth tutorial set in the 22nd century onboard the Enterprise with just 2 missions, a special recruitment event, human-only and with voice cameos of Scott Bakula, Jolene Blalock, and with Connor Trinneer voicing Temporal Section 31 agent Charles Tucker III, revealed to have faked his death. All this, released with a 2nd Elachi Lockbox with T6 Elachi ships featured in one of the missions which is a sequel to ENT: Silent Enemy.

And, in the other arc released at the same time, Alice Eve will voice Carol Marcus for another mission in the Kelvin Timeline where you must stop Romulans allied to time-traveling Prime Mirror Leeta from stealing the Genesis Device.
This is a joke, of course. Granted, I wouldn't mind playing a MACO from ENT for about 10 missions, before being stranded into the 25th century, and go back to the Kelvin Timeline.

Even in so far that you needed to complete all three factions to get all rewards. (Granted, the extra from playing it a second time was only dil and something else - I think Fleet Marks but not sure - that can be achieved through other means)

I'd hate to see a KDF only recruit event, just as I hated the recent Fed only recruit event, even though I'm still working on it, spec points coming in slow, and Doffs taking for ever. Delta was nice, wish I had completed 100% of it... oh well close enough. I would like to see another "Delta-like" recruit event, I just don't want to max out 3 characters on 3 factions to do it.... we'll see though. KDF does need a more involving story arc. Speaking of which, I'd like to see them add more faction specific story arcs instead of the universal arcs they keep adding. After the first ~20 missions, which are interrupted by universal missions, it no longer feels like "part of the fed", or "part of the KDF" because no matter what faction you're playing, you're always doing the same missions.

Yeah, specs are a slog. I'm popping on once a day to run admiralty and doffing, so I'm getting a few spec points a week, but it feels overly drawn out. DOFFing isn't much better, though I should be finishing 2 more to level 4 shortly, and then needing to fly between clusters a lot for the colonial xp.

Doesn't the KDF part of the K-13 story simply justify the existence of KDF K-13 fleet holdings? I wouldn't take it as foreshadowing future developments.

A KDF-only recruit event would certainly make players want to play KDF. And give people who normally wouldn't play it a reason to experience it.
Aswell as old players who still think KDF doesn't have anything to offer, gets see how much it actually got to offer today. (I still hear old players claim KDF doesn't have any missions at all, or complain all KDF maps are so dark you can't see anything.)
I do recall when the Delta Recruit event ran, there was a lot of players that made KDF side characters to get the extra Recruit things that could only be gotten with a KDF side character.

So yeah, I am all for a KDF-only recruit event. It can bring more people over to play.

Also T6 Vo'Quv Carrier and T6 Kar'Fi Battle Carrier, please.
Aswell as some more allied alien ships. Ferasan ships? Anyone?

I think a KDF (and/or a Romulan) recruitment event would be an interesting idea. It seems the easiest way to drive people to actually play KDF.

I am mainly a Klingon Player.
Cryptic think that KDF is a loss - therefore the dark side is often neglected. Bugs on Fed side are fixed much quicker and it took more than a year before KDF (and Roms) could get a T6 science ship (and the first one actually was a federation one...).
I have often said that the lack of Support didn't make the KDF side that attractive to some Players hence fewer Players would Chose to Play Klingons or at least spend Zen on them (it's like rapairing an old Toyota that you expect to die soon anyway).

Now I think that a KDF recruitment Event could boost Klingons and make them (more) profitable. However I think that it is possible that Cryptic will instead ditch their 2 Faction System by unifying Klingons and Federation. This would fit in with the storyline. And it could open the door for more playable species like the Cardassians at a later stage.

But yes, please make a KDF recruitment Event. The dark side is fun. We have cloaking devices :)
    18 characters
    KDF: 2 tacs, 2 engs, 3 scis
KDF Roms: 3 tacs, 1 eng, 1 scis
    FED: 2 tacs, 1 eng, 2 scis
    TOS: 1 tac
all on T5 rep (up to temporal)
all have mastered Intel tree (and some more specs Points)
    highest DPS: 60.982

Though I would like to see them doing a Klingon recruitement event with lots of new Klingon ships, it would be a huge financial risk. They do have some expericence with creating Klingon exclusive content and the resulting increase in the number of players on the KDF side. A lot of effort went into making the Klingons a full faction that could be played all the way from level 1. They also know how well their Klingon ship packs sold in the past. What Cryptic got out of it obviously wasn't good enough to justify for another large investment into this faction.

For this reason I'm pretty sure that large events that took a lot of effort to create will always be primarily about the FED side.

I think a Cardassian focused addition to the game would be a good way to go. There is a LOT of room to progress the Cardassian Civil War with the True Way, maybe the final fight to bring them down once and for all. Plus, we could have a few new ships.

Players who actually want to play multiple toons actually do. Recruitment events only drive people to create throwaway alts that get deleted/ignored after unlocking the rewards.

But, as long as we're on the wishful thinking bandwagon...they'll join the factions and do Alliance Recruitment next. Called it! :p

+1 on this idea, as long as im not limited on which factional species i can use unlike TOS faction. I want to be able to use a lib borg or talaxian kdf.
  • alcyoneserenealcyoneserene Member Posts: 2,414 Arc User
Sure, but I'd prefer it be for all 3 factions and instead they simply add something unique if someone made either a Romulan or KDF recruit as added incentive, perhaps as some account-wide faction-specific visual like some really good player or ship costumes for both Rom and KDF, space or ground pets, etc.

This could be something that a Fed-only player wouldn't feel like they'd miss out on if they decided to go Fed or stick with Fed only cause it would require having at least one Rom or KDF to begin with to use it, in which case making one other non-Fed couldn't be such a bad thing.

Or better yet reveal that the entire series finale was a holographic simulation based on inaccurate historical information where Tucker didn't actually die. That episode certainly calls into question the entire existence of the series. Is just that episode a holographic simulation or the entire series? We assume that the Temporal Cold War actually happened. but that could have been Riker making the historical simulation more interesting.

At the day the event ended I made three AoY toons just to have them if I wanted to play them. They did nothing but the first mission (Azura Rescue) to (a) get to level 11 to start TRIBBLE and (b) have the Azura access card. After that I sent them to a cluster, doing nothing but doffing, moving on to the next cluster if they completed a series. (Granted, they did do the Viala dailies when I sent them back to ESD for a promotion). When they reached level 51 (52?), they started admiralty, but only one mission per faction per day to use the bonus to get to all-tier-10, in case I want to use a bonus XP event. They have reached that goal a long time ago.

By the time the Crystal Cataclysm came around, they were all long level 60. Colonial was always the first to get to tier 4 the way I played it (and I think is the only one except for maybe Engineering, which I may have filled). By now, they're almost through their first spec tree. (I participated in the CC with them though)

It really doesn't take that much time playtime wise to get them up and running, but patience real-time wise. You will need a couple of months to fill the 9x4 commendations and the 90 spec points. At least the spec points can get a massive boost if you actually play them.

(Oh, and I long decided I will keep those guys around. By now they also completed all reps, thanks to CC, the 250 bonus they got, Delta bonus and so on)
