Going by previous years the sale will start at 9am PDT Which is 17.00 GMT

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Well, no, Cryptic isn't obligated to, but given that Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, they should realize that a lot of people are itching to spend money and they should be just as eager to take some of it.
Beyond that, is it really crazy to think that in the modern world where we almost have self driving cars, that a blog post and sale could be automated to go live at a certain time? I know, it's crazy to think a software company might be capable of such futuristic wizardry...especially when my inbox is full of black friday sales from other companies (none of which are software companies, BTW, but still someone manage to automate their offers)
No. It isnt. But did you notice the two blogs that did go live today? They were filled with errors. Now either their community team didn't proofread the copy before posting it live, or they were set to go live automatically (and someone still didn't proof read them). So while its not crazy to believe that something like this could be automated... I would posit that Cryptic's track record with automated things is sketchy at best.

Well they can't be very eager to earn revenue then.....
Nearly all shops in the western world have had billboards, posters, TV/radio advertising etc, and we have had nothing. A 2 sentence news posts from a Dev would be enough just to announce it. Also, as someone else pointed out, it doesn't take a genius to set automated adverts t appear at a certain day/time.
For me, it's STO's losss and another game's gain. i've had a bloody awesome month in commissions and i've got cash burning a hole in my pocket, so if STO doesn't want it, then plenty of other games will
No. The Cryptic offices do not have staff in them 24 hours a day. The servers for this (and other Cryptic games) are not hosted at the Cryptic offices. They are hosted in a data center with dozens and dozens of other servers. This data center has staff that liaises with Cryptic staff when issues arise. This staff (those of the data center) are not responsible for posting blogs or making sales happen. That is the purvue of both the Cryptic community team and marketing team, whom I can assure you are not at the office right now. The Community manager and lead producer are likely called by the data center when issues occur so they can figure out how to fix it and keep the community updated, even after hours. (This is called being "On-Call".)
You expecting that theres even a skeleton crew at Cryptic right now is silly. Because there isnt. Thats not how MMOs work. Thats not how the world works.
Second: We are entitled to nothing but the game we play. That is it. Cryptic does not need to inform us if they plan to have a sale or not. They are not required to post in advance anything about anything.
And if you want to get serious about it: Cryptic/PWE can shut the servers down tomorrow, without notice, and without refund of anything purchased. We are entitled to nothing at all regarding this, or any other game run by PWE.
Announcing a sale a couple of days in advance hurts revenue for any online business so why would cryptic announce a sale a couple of days in advance.
The only reason why we "know" there will be a sale is because there has been one on each black Friday for the last couple of years.
Bottom line is to be patient young padawan.

Getting back on the clock....
For Me, I'm your typical modern day 1st-world consumer with "cash on the hip". For someone like me, convenience is one of the most important factors when deciding on a purchase. if it's too much waiting time or effort, then I go somewhere else or I wait for the Christmas sale. If the Christmas sale isn't great, then STO won't see any more money off me this year. Will they go bankrupt without my contributions? No. Will they notice the lack of revenue coming from my account? No. I am only one man. But the question that SHOULD concern them is; how many other people feel the same as me?

I spent all I wanted to spend on Upgrade Weekend this time (missed the last one); so I'm all good with my upgraded Temporal set. Still, I'd be surprised if they did nothing. Seems unimaginable, really. Black Friday is a solid American tradition; they'd be silly to forego on it.

Ok, so you assume that every player in STO has cash on the hip? What about those who go out buying those top-up cards from game stores (apologies, not sure what those things are called) or about those who are going to be asking mummy & daddy for their pocket money early, or other people who don't get paid yet and might want to arrange some cash to take part on the sale?
My point is this, not everyone has money immediately available and need time to sort. So from a business perspective, it makes sense to take the course of action that would see the company generate more revenue flows, and that would only come if they gave notice of a sale.
As for me, i've got my card and my Paypal all ready and waiting, many others don't have that convenience.
A friendly reminder - political discussions and general personal insults/hate are against forum rules. I'd rather not have to come back to this topic and close it, due to several individuals.
Thank you for keeping it civil.

The only official news info I found seems to suggest that the sale only affects packs at least with the PS4 version, while there is subtle mentioning on the bottom about the PC and XBox One versions also getting special deals.
STO Xbox is listed as having a zen sale (thanks to Major Nelson). It wouldn't be a wild guess to say that we'll see something similar later today.

How do you "charge ZEN" with a credit card outside of the US? That option doesn't show in my ARC client. Strange issue since I can subscribe etc just fine using credit card.
At the top of the forum you should see "Charge" click on that should bring you to the following link which should allow you to purchase Zen. Make sure you see the bonus 15% / 20% / 25% Zen before confirming your purchase. Just in case there is a delay when the bonus is in effect.
I'm gonna add the 20 keys plus ultimate upgrade to my list of 'best deals in the store'. Fist time they showed up the upgrade was the sweetener, but the keys were normal price. keys 25% off AND the upgrade. Don't mind if I do...
Passing mention also goes to the $100 in zeni bonus: unlocks the T5 Regent. While this ship is eminently forgettable on its own, it does give all your Feddie captains access to the metreon gas canisters console if you were thinking about loading up the console set for the new Archon and Vizier.

If youre talking to me... then... you dont know me very well... Ive given Crytpic plenty of flak for their stupid decisions over the years.
