I have never bought anything on Black Friday, but as i'm looking on making a small purchase of zen to buy some goodies for my Klink, I just wanted to ask the forum, particularly players who have been playing STO for more than 1 year, what sort of deals to expect?
I'm the sort of person who if i see a real "giveaway" sort of a deal that I'll throw more money at it, so i just wanted to see how much I should budget for this friday?

I'd say there will be a lot of really solid options if you throw about $50 at the screen unless your account is already highly developed. The cross faction Battlecuiser (for damn good ships + damn good trait) and the 31c cross faction bundle are both pretty huge gains for a newer account and both are some of the all around best deals in the store. I personally fit all my captains with a DOff roster cap of 200 when the +100 option is on sale. And you won't go wrong with a few keys sitting around to sell later for Ec, or to crack infinity boxes and start gathering a little pile of lobi for a game-busting ground weapon (Iconian or Boolean) or one of the half dozen really excellent lobi-store consoles to spruce up your main. Or you can just take left over zeni and swap them for dilithium for things like upgrade weekends (like the one we're having now... coincidence? I don't think so).
Well I'm looking at getting the Tactical Command Battlecrusier for my klink, so it would most likley be a 50 that i throw at ST), probably do the rest on lockbox keys
That might not include the latest ships though so if the new science vessel are out this week i'd expect them to be excluded. That said new ships are normally on sale anyway for a few days so they might count also.
Been eyeing it a while.
Well it's "update" day today, so once they've done their 2-3 hours this afternoon, i bet they'll be something in the launcher window....
its a national holiday here in murika... doubt anyone is at the office today, thats why no patch
Thanksgiving, celebrating the assimilation of redskins and the appropriation of their land for 200 years...
That's for an individual ship. A Tier 6 3 ship pack is normally 6000 Zen so either 4800 (20% off) or 5000 is the most likely price for the science bundle. If the sale continues for the whole weekend i can squeeze out both the science pack and BC pack
On the other hand the Zen price on exchange is already rising, so F2P players (like me) will wait for next ship sale... unless the upgrade weekend will tone it down...
Patch Day this week was Tuesday actually.
normal text = me speaking as fellow formite
colored text = mod mode
9 AM PST tomorrow morning - 9 AM the next day most likely, that's what it was last year.
Thanks
This scenario of no sale on new ship but first time discount due to being a new ship (followed by no sale on next sale due to still being new) that's a tad less than whatever big c-store sale is going on sounds familiar as I recall being puzzled why it wasn't exactly 15% or 20% off, and deciding to buy it anyways.
I don't remember if that applies to packs. Really hope so. Only buying the new Sci 3-pack if or when it's on sale.
Decided on the Eternal (aka Fedternal) since some rep shields manage to make it look good and take away that leathery weird: CC on Fed, Dyson on Rom, and maybe Omega on KDF with Red highlights but unsure yet.
Sale or no sale, will walk away with at least one Sci ship.
Its Thursday night in America, as well as a national holiday still. Be patient.

Anyway, Im hoping the Intrepid Pack is discounted a bit... Id actually like to pick it up.
actually on the pacific coast of the U.S. its not even quite midnight... guess where cryptic is
Beyond that, is it really crazy to think that in the modern world where we almost have self driving cars, that a blog post and sale could be automated to go live at a certain time? I know, it's crazy to think a software company might be capable of such futuristic wizardry...especially when my inbox is full of black friday sales from other companies (none of which are software companies, BTW, but still someone manage to automate their offers)
