So my characters lost all their ground kit modules, where do I replace them?

uryenserellonturyenserellont Member Posts: 858 Arc User
Someone said there was a kit revamp and now I have no kit modules and no idea how to replace them.

I shouldn't even have to replace them. They got removed from all my characters without replacements and I'm not happy. Where do I replace them for free? I looked on the exchange and there are no chroniton mines above level 3 for sale. I lost a lot and can't replace it, wtf.

EDIT: these are the old Mk X kits like Tactical Squad Officer and Enemy Neutralization. I never got kits higher than that - never needed them and never knew where to get modules for them that didn't cost an arm and a leg (chroniton mines were way way too expensive). Heck I didn't even know where to get kits themselves aside from one of the reputation projects.

Have you tried switching instances/maps? I thought all of mine were gone on one of my characters but they showed in my inventory when I switched maps.

I've been switching for days. I just noticed now they're all gone.

And what does switching instances do anyway? Are they not supposed to be removed?
  • alyssum01alyssum01 Member Posts: 14 Arc User
I switched instances on the character that had the missing missing kit/kit modules and somehow that refreshed the map enough to make them appear. Some did show in my overflow bag.

The ones you had active should have upgraded to epic level.

Nothing in my overflow bag and I'm now switching instances nonstop. Nothing is appearing.

Hmm my Enemy Neutralization kit says "This item is built using antiquated Alliance technology. While it's function is outdated, it may still fetch a fair amount of Energy Credits with vendors."

Does that mean it no longer has kits? How the hell am I supposed to source all the modules I had on all my characters? Can't find mines on the exchange for instance.

Wait... "Tactical Squad Officer" is the name of the old style integrated kits... you weren't actually using modules at all were you? If you want some cheap easy to get modules go to the ground gear vendor on ESD.

These are the old moduleless kits? If so they've been removed from the game essentially and replaced. From my understanding, you need to build your kit from scratch.

Can I get comparable level modules from the ground gear vendor? I'll have to look.

First I have to even remember what the kits had, it's been so long.

EDIT: nah ground gear vendor is IX white. I don't want that. I want my very rare X chroniton mines above all. No idea where to find them.

(lol found one on the exchange for 5 mil. I'd rather quit the damn game than be forced to buy something for 5 million that I already had for a mere fraction of that cost. I mean wtf.)

    Check your overflow bags.

Nonetheless, nobody is using the kits with tinkered modules. Starter kits are TRIBBLE poor cheap on the exchange, and you have missed out the golden romulan kits that were nerfed a day ago. Step up and curve your way into the wonderland of decent gear.
Sent you a chroniton mine module, so you wouldn't whine on the forums it was taken away and you were caught off guard by the fact.

Well then I'm sending it back.

I've been gone a very long time. I don't know what gear is good, where to get kits or modules or anything like that. And I don't need someone sending me something so I'll stop whining on the forums. So rude.

For Kits, you can get a Lockbox Kit on the Exchange for about 100,000 EC. There is also the Fleet Spire, Fleet Embassy, Fleet Research Lab, Undine Reputation Store, Uneasy Allies mission, and Surface Tension mission.

For Kit Modules, there is the Lockbox Kit Modules which are about 100,000 EC to 2,000,000 EC. There is also the Fleet Spire, Fleet Embassy, Fleet Research Lab, Summer Event, Winter Event, Undine Reputation, Delta Reputation, Iconian Reputation, Terran Reputation, Temporal Reputation, Time in a Bottle Mission, Broken Circle mission, Uneasy Allies mission, What's Left Behind mission, and the Dilithium Store for any Specialization Kit Modules. You have to reach a certain rank in a Specialization to use its Kit Modules.

Most of the info, can be found here.

You need to be at an actual mailbox, or ship providing mail service to get items. Also note that while your antique kit is non-functional now it has a high vendor sale value. Additionally kits and modules can now be upgraded with ground weapon upgrades. So even if you find a white mkI module you like, you can now make it special. Did that with my 23c photon grenade and medical scan ;)

also you can upgrade modules now. It's not too hard to get a blue by buying a mk1 at a vendor then upgrading it with a ground gear upgrade.

Though, actually, if you're upgrading from mk1/2 white, by the time you reach mk IX or X, you're just as likely to have a purple(VR) or violet(UR) quality module.

    What is your captain type(s)?

As mentioned, you can get white kit modules from the ground gear vendors now, and you can level them up with tech upgrades (type = ground. use Superior ones.)

Fleet has mark XII VR / UR of various kinds at the different fleet locations, for example the Romulan embassy has a beam turret that is also a flamethrower at close range for your Engineers.

Rep projects include kit modules also at Mark XII.

The Winter event starting in December will have cold-themed kit modules from the event store.

Kit frames still exist, but now they just buff stats they don't hold modules. You can get decent ones dirt cheap on the exchange, often under 20,000 credits for VR mark XII.

    Hey WB @uryenserellont. :)

Yea I noticed as well that they made the old style kits totally obsolete now. Fortunately everything is still available. It just, sadly, has to be reacquired and that even over various sources.

Good is that with the upgrade system now including kits as well there is no reason anymore to pay high prices on the exchange. You can “buy” at mkX white from the exchange if u like and upgrade later on. It should also be noted that even if u don’t have the best upgraded stuff you still can do extraordinary on ground because power creep is far less serious there. Being too good is even a curse there and takes out the fun. With a team of our fleet we managed to make the fastest NTTE run ever recorded in the metal league last week. As you might image it is like stepping on ants so please don’t break into sweat over it.

If you want to put together a new kit my advise to you is to look up the exchange and get a frame first. +Kit Performance and +Weapon damage are considered to be the best mods but keep in mind that you don’t need them to do any good.

For a replacement of the enemy neutralization kit you can get the chroniton mine barrier at our fleet spire holding. The rest I would get on the exchange. If you have been around during the winter wonder land the past years there are also some good and cheap alternatives for that there!

For squad leader tac kit replacement get rally cry from fleet spire holding and the rest from exchange. Again if you buy mkx white stuff cheap it should not be a problem.

There has been a lot of new stuff introduced the past year. If you like to have a sneak peak what is favored by the DPS crowed and myself check the following link regularly:

I can also offer you to meet in game over the weekend and we see what we can put together for you. B)

if you are willing to wait a few weeks the winter event store has a good equivalent to your chroniton mines, altho if you have previously unlocked the winter event store and have some christmas stuff still left you may be able to buy them now

Welcome to Bugs Central. Apparently, a simple database wipe couldn't bode well with the game.

I think the mail issue is that those are old items that should have gotten converted but couldn't get converted because they were in mail, now the game doesn't know what to do with them.

Hey peter, long time no see. I'll try to contact you ingame but my gaming hours are all over the place with work and school.

So weird how much you forget and how much you get thrown out of the loop when you don't play a game for a while. I need to upgrade my mk XII gear, buy new kits and modules, and I'm sure all kinds of other stuff to make myself competitive again.

Oh yeah wait I think I can actually get those. They're cold mines right? I think I have enough to buy them too. I'll have to see when I can log in next, maybe tonight.
  • markhawkmanmarkhawkman Member Posts: 35,236 Arc User
yeah the cold mines are def better than the standard mines.

NONE of the mines are good anymore, because they take 5 seconds from deploy to detonation, by which time there is nobody left near them because the enemies are long gone

Well, yeah they suck in open ground, they also suck when the enemies don't actually move towards you. So yeah, def situational. but for stuff like Bug Hunt they're killer.

Mines suck in open ground but they're great in corridors. Set them out of combat. Agro enemies. Win.

They're also invaluable on Defera ground.
