DOFF ability descriptions not reliably updating instantly on Exchange

cklibcklib Member Posts: 188 Arc User
When you search for DOFFs on the Exchange, it will take a long time for their ability descriptions to update or properly show. Missing or lingering descriptions will sporadically update on individual mouse-over. But when you page up or down through your search results, the DOFF descriptions of the previous page will linger for the DOFFs on the new page.

This is a pain when you're looking for a certain variety of DOFF (e.g. Conn Officer with Tactical Team cooldown reduction).

Hope this can be fixed quickly.

This also happens on the Sell tab in the Exchange window. Switching tabs, however, instantly updates all descriptions.

After your first login of the day, the items listed on the Sell tab of the Exchange window do not update/show without mouseover.

4 months later and we still have to put up with this when interacting with the Exchange.

I also submitted bug reports about these issues.

Holodeck ticket 4,182,562: Blank items in "Sell" tab of the Exchange
Holodeck ticket 4,182,565: Duty officers on the Exchange displayed incorrectly

Note that it's not just the descriptions: The names and traits of doffs also display incorrectly. And the names and icons of certain items also come up blank in the "Sell" tab.

Well it has been almost two years, but the display bug when switching from Craft School to Craft School is still around so don't hold your breath.

9 months and counting. Obviously too much to ask for a fix of something you, Cryptic, broke which is used by almost every player each day. I bet it's working just fine on the console client.

I can concur. Lost some EC recently, thinking I was getting a CrtH energy doff, but was getting a crappy one instead.

@OP: I see your 'Hope this can be fixed quickly.' was in vain.

Yeah, it's one of the many things they broke with new patches in the past. Yet Cryptic does not care, because fixing your own bugs (specifically UI ones) isn't profitable as simply introducing yet another ship or more lockbox content while apparently all their attention is focused on the console client. And so the PC client gets worse and worse until nobody cares about it anymore.

I've thus given up on reporting any bugs. If they don't care, why should I.

Think of the Cryptic engine as a house built years ago. It was a good looking home with a modern bathroom, kitchen and appliances, living room with the 3 meter tall entertainment cabinet, and Masonite Siding. Now time has passed and there is still a Star Trek light in the front living room window but the carpet needs replacing, the appliances are out of date and failing, the bathroom needs upgrading, and the siding is still bowed and rotted. So to fix everything they go out and install a new pool.

Yeah, you can exploit the exchange/players by placing a look alike doff in with the good ones. Sometimes it will inherit the ability and they wont know til after they bought it.
