I liked the KT films. So much more so than a few mins long clip of some people on a green screen and a short fauxumentary with overblown speeches, half hearted acting, and more Peters than anybody would need.
Also really sad is that, even though the battle of Axanar was never explained in detail, to Peters and co. it *had* to be Federation versus Klingon Empire. The most cliché-route you could go no matter if it makes sense or not.
Also, I kinda don't buy the narrative in general. Especially the idea that no ship prior to the Ares (which btw looks more modern than a certain 'next generation heavy cruiser' we are familiar with) could actually blow up a klingon cruiser and that the Ares would likely fail against the D7 because... it's bigger and newer. Phasers are Phasers I think.
It's just bad writing. Some of the actors know how to deliver dialogue, but that doesn't change the quality of the narrative.
Well ... only commenting on the freshness of a 'Documentary' approach to bringing Star Trek to the screen as seen in Prelude', I found the whole idea absolutely awesome. It was enough unlike anything else that you can make a solid argument that it was in fact, improving and adding imagination to a franchise that had become stuck in a tired formula. Right or wrong, I am sad that I may not get to see it finished.
