I know it has past the 8th but Cryptic you could have given that T6 TOS connie as a C-Store Ship but no, you gave us a POS C-store pack that has been around a long time and the items in that pack came out with the agents of yesterday and not to mention how you shoved the one ship everyone has been after into a god damned R&D box that all of us have a 1/10 chance of getting it.... that means out of 200 R&D packs we might get it, we might not. all I have to say at this point is I bet CBS is pissed off at you all right now and WAY TO DROP THE BALL CRYPTIC!!!!

aka, the reason why ships are tied to lockboxes and R&D promos.

How about that you could buy the ship off the exchange and not worry about the rest of it...
They offered the ship. They didn't have to.
Won't be long before it becomes collectible due to being discontinued.

Why should I? this is just another blunder by a game company that loves to TRIBBLE off it's player fan base.
nope. Extortion would be making a player's account inaccessible unless you paid $1k each time you logged in. That would be extortion. Anything else is just Cryptic offering costume items/ships or VERY basic, limited-time services...just like every online game out there. It generates an interest by players to buy something and support the game if it is a 'collectible' item.
you don't have to do it. That's you're choice. Not theirs.

I see two "blunders" in the first post, since this is a nice pack if you enjoy costume unlocks or want the TOS ship interior, and it is NOT a free unlock for TOS captains.
Cryptic can only do so much. They don't have a huge number of developers working on the game. They can't afford it. Many are volunteering their time from other projects to work on STO. They've done a great job with what they have done in keeping things changing.
They'd need a much larger (75% larger) subscribing player base to do a major overhall of the game. They've moved away fromt this due to the fact that STO IS an old game and the competition for players is fierce.
Personnally, I play STO simply because it IS STO. But that's just me.
As a game developer, myself, I'm well aware of the issues with a game as old as this one, and I'm familiar with the business models they're using. Still, no need to gripe about a little thing as a single ship skin, that I may or may not even use very long in-game.
lol true, but what I am getting at is the fact that they offered it in the most F'ed up way possible and not to mention they could have done it in many different ways. "You could buy the ship off the exchange and not worry about the rest of it..." yeah GL on that one pal... I have been waiting for that but the people that do have copies of it want an outrageous price... NO, this is Cryptic's blunder and shows yet again how they love to TRIBBLE people off.
1) A lot of people desire it, because it has a special meaning for them.
2) It would seem inappropriate if a lot of people would actually fly it and it was an extremely common sight.
Putting it in a promotion like they did means:
- It is possible to get this highly desired ship.
- Only very few people will actually get it.
- It will overall lead to a lot of spending by players.
The few whose desire to have this ship is matched by their luck and/or their ability to spend money on the game will help pay the servers and continued development of this game for all that don't. Every time you see a Connie in the game now you know that it might have given STO and your ability to play a few extra hours or days. And if you don't have one yourself, you know someone else did this for you (even if he might not even care about you.)

that's f'ing laughable dude I could care less they would make more if they put it in the the C-store or Lobi store

that's what I am saying CBS is not going to be happy if they don't make more money they can make more if the offered the Connie in the C-store or even in the lobi store

Actually, all this stuff has been available for years, possibly since year one (can't remember for sure, it's been a long road getting from there to here).
