AFK was also controversal last time this Event was around. Why they didn't address it before having it again this time escapes me. Instead wait two weeks in out of three. Go figure.

1. Because for all the complaining about people not doing the optionals, it's still less complaining than if you actually have to play the whole time (compare to Breach event).
2. Because an 11 minute auto-win timer is a cheap way to pad play-time metrics (compare to CC event).
3. Because the optionals are, well, optional. On purpose. Thus players not doing them is always an option. On purpose.

And this is why the revamp made Starbase HP a fail condition....
But that's actually something challenging for pugs to manage on advanced so they changed it back...
And the funny thing is, Mirror Invasion doesn't even have an AFK issue. It has an recurring controversy between players who want to do optional objectives and players who don't.
I find it a tragic irony that after spending all their time on optional objectives and leaving me to solo the one actually required objective, the dreadnought, the former dare say *I* wasn't "contributing."
So...you are against an AFK system because you are an AFKer...gotya. And you are probably pissed because me or somebody like me probably went after the dread before you could and triggered the penalty for you. I hope you enjoyed wasting your time...because the other players I am sure did not.
As I've explained just a few post up the thread, I've only ever got the penalty due to the game crashing. Reading comprehension, ahoy. And name-calling will get you nowhere with me.
This alleged "AFK system" doesn't affect me the slightest. And why would it? I'm not AFK, I just choose not to pursue the optional objectives. And as we've already established, the AFKbot agrees with me the optionals are worthless. But I pity the unfortunates who fall victim to this charade.
On the other hand, I have long enjoyed NOT wasting my time in MI. And although ragequitters are sometimes amusing too, I do sincerely advise others to do the same instead of getting all bent out of shape over optionals.
You are under the mistaken impression I believe what you said. I make it a habit of not believeing what AFKers say about the AFK system that they want to dismantle. Just like I don't believe what a used car salesman tells me about the car they want to sell.
And you are amused that your action of NOT PLAYING THE GAME causes distress to other WHO WANT TO PLAY THE GAME AND QUIT. Yeah...I believe the term for that is a troll. You should be banned...lucky for you that this game won't ever have GM who will do that...but that does not change what should happen.
You're under the mistaken impression I care about your beliefs.
That's so rude. Not doing optional objectives is not against the TOS. Cursing and calling people names is.

If you don't care what other believe, why did you bother to post?
You are right, not doing optional is not agains the ToS. However doing something that causes others to ragequit IS against the ToS and you admit that you get enjoyment from doing it...so yeah. And calling somebody what they are is neither cursing or name calling. It is an accurate description of what they are or doing. So try again. You can try to justify it to yourself all you want...but deep down, you know what you are doing is wrong...and you ain't fooling anyone else.
Lol, "doing something that causes others to ragequit." Good thing this isn't a PvP game then, or winning would be against the TOS.
Except of course, it's really not. For all that people like you believe this mission like everything else in the game should be done the way you want and anyone who does it differently should be banned, you're the ones who are wrong.
Does the Daemosh trait definitely buff TBR? If so that is awesome as I though it was only Tractor Beam it buffed. Still awesome as I can cut a Command Cruiser in half with it as it is, but to know it has other choices will be nice.
I'd like an answer to this question myself. Interesting.
While getting an AFK penalty even when doing the actual objectives of the mission is kind of silly, it's still good that Cryptic is attempting to fix the AFKer problem...even if they're going at it in the usual lazy, half-hearted manner.
For now, until they come up with a more intelligent AFK detection system (if they ever do), I'd recommend people who have been hit with an AFK penalty to at least take potshots at the Terran ships while going around and closing rifts and powering the station. If you're having survival problems, again, follow around a higher dps ship, take a couple shots at the Terran ships once they've aggroed to the higher dps teammate, and then continue closing the rift or transferring power as usual.
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"

Maybe next they'll make the mission fail in normal unless you close at least 10 portals or something...
And we all will have you to blame.
My character Tsin'xing
I'd like that very much.
Hopefully they put the fail conditions back in the other missions, too.
I doubt it will happen, though. Too many people complain as soon as any hint of challenge pops up anywhere.
I'd call that a big dang mistake!
