Can't upgrade Kelvin ship weapons

in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
So I saved up my Lobi and EC and bought a Vengeance and a Kelvin connie.
But when I tried to upgrade each of their weapons, the upgrade boxes were dimmed and it wouldn't let me select them.
Is there that needs to be done before I can upgrade them?

    White mk X gear that comes with ships is not upgradeable. If you want kelvin phasers (or any other lockbox weapon type for that matter) you either have to open boxes or buy them off the exchange.

    Damn, there's a Large piece of information that I don't remember seeing Anywhere on the wiki(or the forum for that matter). Wow, I really screwed myself just to get back a weapon(Andorian heavy cannon) That I Can't Even Upgrade?!! Who's The Dumb $#!7 @#!%^%*$^#!$ That Came Up With That One?!! Hell, the more info I get about how this thing operates, the More Pissed Off I'm Getting!
