I'm not exactly a new player, I played for about two months when the game first went F2P then quit because my internet didn't like Cryptics servers. But I started playing again a month or so ago after changing ISP (and it's still bad, lost of rubber banding and DCs, though playable)
Anyway, this is rather underwhelming. I can't seem to find any use for dilithium in the game (other than trading for zen), everything you can buy with it either isn't worth the price or gated behind reputation that I'm not going to spend months grinding
And a card? Not even a ship? Whee.
so what do you think the players buying the dilithium with zen are buying it for, they are not buying dilithium so they can buy zen with it that's for sure.
like I said in my last post in this thread "swapping dilithium for zen is but one of many things you can use it for in game, how about helping out your fleet or one of the fleets in your armada to fill projects, maybe buying some reputation weapons or perhaps something off the dilithium store or of course you could always use more dilithium for upgrading weapons"
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Admiralty Card...got many of those and why bust the grind for more.
This would be a better reward if it was a Science vessel. My KDF and Rom characters are hurting in terms of Science Vessels.
Well, according to the card, it IS a science vessel card... with the highest skill being ENG... and the ship being a dreadnought... How can you even fail at making a simple card consistent?
This would actually be pretty typical for a Mirror ship. Take a look at the other Mirror cruisers. As a cruiser, it'll have higher Engineering. For Mirror ships, they reverse the Tac/Sci from what the standard universe, so in our case, ours is better Tac so the Mirror would be higher Sci. Interestingly enough, this means the Advanced Research Vessel would likely be the model for the Mirror Tac dreadnought.

We got a card for doing the Breach event. And one time we got a non combat pet for doing Crystaline.
I don't see the problem honestly...
The problem is that Crystalline doesn't have an artifical time gate in it and Breach is actually somewhat fun to play even if it is lengthy. MU is tiresome because you're stuck waiting 15 minutes regardless of whether all the portals are closed or not, and it just begs people to AFK through it. The event itself is horribly designed and getting an admiralty card is just not worth it to a lot of people.
Honestly, this is the only queued event that I can't blame people for AFKing in.

Dev response on Reddit says this ship is supposed to be an Engineering ship. I have plenty of Engineering ships. Science ships for my KDF and Roms are what I need.
Not sure why I should do this tedious event for another cruiser card. I guess I could join an AFK premade group and do Admirality or catch up on Netflix episodes.

There is that frustration. I will admit to that. Actually had someone AFK the first phase on one of my three runs.

It is. It does the same thing the Assimilated Assault Cruiser card does, but for tactical instead of Engie. My KDF and Romulan will get some good use out of it due to being extremely tac heavy. I predict the next card might be a +20 Science per any ship, which would be awesome.

Let me know when the +20 Science per any ship event is here. I'll do that one.
I'm glad the reward is something I don't care about.
I strongly dislike this event and have no desire to do it. The fact that the reward is also undesirable makes me feel like I'm not missing anything. Personally, I was thrilled when I saw that the reward was so lackluster, it was like I was being set free from this horrid event.
I'm a little disappointed that with all the negative feedback they have received on the forced time gates in this even that they still haven't made any alteration at all.
I played the mission yesterday on normal with one captain. I actually briefly fell asleep during the mission. LOL!!!
When I woke up the window to select my marks was on the screen. I am already not impressed by the reward. If I fall asleep again, then I just might skipped this event.
I take back what I said earlier - having played this a few times now I was sorely reminded of what a tiresome zerg rush it is.
My problem is the forced time gate.
Ok, now I know I'll take heat for this, but I'm going to say it anyway. Yes.. i admit it, I dislike the event because I can't use my superior DPS to blow through it and get it over with. I want to just be able to use my 'super OP' ship to blast through it like tissue paper and be done with it.
But I'll at least admit it.
I'll say though in my defense, that to get this reward on all my characters, I would have to do this event 6 times a day for 14 days. When I'm looking down the barrel of 84 runs of MI.. yes, I want it to be over fast.. sue me. To run it 6 times would take me an hour and a half, of which I would spend 100+ of those 120 Min doing absolutely nothing but waiting.
And yes, I understand that I don't NEED to do it for all my characters. But whenever I do this event, I end up spending most of the time just flying around waiting for the next phase to start, it feels like a total waste of time. Like you, I decided to try it again just to see if maybe it wasn't as bad as I remember. I did a MI run last night shortly after the patch, and 5 min into it, all I could think to myself was 'what was I thinking?'
I'm just happy that the reward is something I can happily live without because no way I'm even doing this thing on 1 character, much less all 6.
Maybe I just missed the sarcasm, but what? Unless this one's shorter in duration than previously, it's still 14 runs at, on the low side, 20 minutes each. That's not even a skill issue: the first 15+ minutes are spent waiting on a timer that will continue even if you've closed every rift and destroyed every ship. The Breach event was worse (or at least about the same, once the exploit was fixed), but the other regular events are much less time-consuming.
No you got it. I should've put a smiley or something though. Use sarcasm with caution.
It's a 15 min slog, and I'm only running my AoY through it for a little admiralty help.
I actually like the mission, except the waiting around with nothing to do for 5-7 mins.

Oh, it's not just you who thinks that way. Even in a pug you often get someone with a lot of damage output who does just what you do and kills everything right away while other people close portals, then we all sit around waiting 10+ minutes with nothing to do.
I've mentioned it before, but in this event I honestly can't blame anyone who sits AFK.

Agreed. I still think it'd be better if there was a maximum number of portals that can spawn and once you close them all then Obisek does a different transition to the boss stage.
I for one am quite happy this is a terrible reward.
It makes not playing this event quite easy.
I only have 2 characters and its not worth the time on either of them.
Although i will miss all the 15 year olds crying about AFKers, while i AFK the hell out the map each and every time.
What a TRIBBLE reward, At least the Shotgun and the Agony rifle are pretty decent-ish weapons and are a nice thing to have for people who are into themed character/roleplay stuff, An admirality card is the lowest effort thing they could have come up with for the dullest game-mechanic that adds nothing to the game .
I used to do these events with several alternates but the grind just getting to me and to top it the awards are useless...added 50K times each alternate does not go along way these days as it once used to be.
Why cryptic does not crank up the rewards aimed at levels of 3 to 4 years ago when these went out the first time? Market used to be 100 DIL to 1 Zen and now almost 5X that amount. Should not the reward reflect that and be something around 250K instead of 50K per character?
They need to keep up with inflation rates in their own game IMHO.
Just got tired of the "useless" grind and will skip this event. Hopefully, the next one would reflect inflation prizes and be at least 250K dil worth instead of the crummy 50K. Yikes!

sure 50k dil does not go as far as it used to when buying zen but there are plenty of other uses where dilithium is the same value it has always been like buying stuff off of the dilithium store or buying reputation items as well as upgrading weapons and donating to a needy fleet.
you guys really need to stop being so blinkered when it comes to dilithium, after all what do you think the players who are buying your dilithium with their zen are doing with it? buying more zen perhaps.
