I fly it until I max out mastery. If I don't like it after that, it goes to Dry Dock.
If it's a c-store ship, you could always just discharge it if you don't want it hanging around since they're reclaimable. Fleet versions aren't of course, but those don't come with traits.

I never had to discharge a C-store ship. But say you do. Will it retain all the mastery lvls if you reclaim it again, or will you be starting over from scratch?
