Probably is better to say no to this even when i made this thread, although elements of it, like the idea of a ship's computer having a holographic "body", could be something a new or existing species in STO could have, seeing as the slipstream isn't that different from Underspace.
Except color, the latter was yellow wasn't it?
Isn't 0718 a human extension of the Enterprises computer?
According to the "Official Comics" he was created by an alien sphere in the med bay.
0718 is a TRIBBLE JJ Trek invention to try and out Data Data. Simple as that and well given he interfaces with the Kitty Universe Enterprise by everything I hav eheard blathered about concerning Kitty Universe why even have consoles or a crew? For that matter why are there still ships in the Kittyverse given the lightyear range portable transporter the JJ introduced?

That character's backstory is all fleshed out in the Star Trek comic book series. And I have to say, for someone who has such an aggressively negative opinion of that version of Star Trek, you sure do know a lot of the details of it. Because none of that is even remotely hinted at on-screen in the films.

And the actor behind 0718 states that he is a human with cybernetic implants with a direct connection to the ship. A comic book series is as canon as STO or any other novel. Either way, I prefer Rommie for humanoid ship avatars.
"Considering that Star Trek is an advocate of the Many Worlds Theory as proved by the Parallels episode, then any fictional setting can exist in Star Trek" I've been saying this too!!!
Thanks to the episode literally everything is canon, as long as it can exist in a parrell universe!
I'd like to see Tom Paris' version of 'Flash Gordon' explored as an AU expansion!
p.s. - complete with the Queen music from the 80s Flash Gordon movie!
Why would Captain Proton be an AU expansion? Just have a bunch of Photonic lifeforms possess the holograms or get Q Jr to have some fun with us by throwing us into a black and white reality.
"You don't want to see who is more powerful, Gandalf the White or TOS Enterprise?"
A stiff **** could defeat Gandalf. As far as wizards go a D%D 1st level wizard in 4e or 5e could crush Gandalf in a battle of wizardly might.
Kirk would just phaser, and then sleep with the Elf chick from the movie verison.
Gandalf is pretty much an angel, he held back his power because his role in the world was not to lead but to guide the races.
Gandalf and the other Ishtari were ordered to hold back so as not to erase whole continent's like the Valar did once, they otherwise could easily give off just as much as an A or H-bomb.
