look I have been playing since beta I was a beta tester at one point then became a lifer the very fist day that this game went live and trust me I know how to build a ship to the point I am hitting at least 65 to 70k DPS and then some but I know that these ships can't even compare to the lock box ships cause they are way better that the 1000 day ship and it T6 counterpart the 1000 day ship just can't cut it including the T6 version in this new storyline if cryptic/pe would make a decent ship that can be gained for the vets in this game I wouldn't feel like I've been cheated out on cause I put countless hours and days on the test server and in the game just to get shafted is just not right
look I do have some T6 ships from the Z store not all of them about maybe 50 to 75% of them and ya I get the 1000 day reward ship and its T6 counterpart but these ships and the 1000 day reward ships on both regular and T6 are really c.r.a.p. none of these ships can compare to a lock box ship they just cant and yes I have a few of the holiday ships from the Christmas events even they suck compared to a lock box ship ive been a lifer since day one ever since I did beta and all I get is a crappy T6 version of the 1000 day reward ship that can't do anything like a lock box ship can.
Maybe you're just not using them correctly?
Sure, the Chimera and Manticore aren't the greatest ships in STO history, but they are by no means **** if set up properly. Same applies for C-Store ships - to imply that none of the 50-75% of C-Store ships you claim to own can compete with something from a lockbox is just so ludicrously wrong as to be hilarious.
That’s not very fair towards the 1000 day ships which are some of the best ships in game. The Fleet versions of the 1000 days ships outperform just about every lockbox ship. Even with a basic torpedo and mines setup I get well over 100kdps out of the 1000 day ships so I don’t see how you can say they do not cut it. I don’t know why you think these ships are rubbish compared to a T6 Connie. The Connie is far weaker. What is it you think the 1000day ships cant do compared to lock box ships? I have a feeling you are going be very disappointed if you every get hold of a Lock box ships. Most lock box ships are way inferior to the Chimera and Manticore . Mostly I only get lockbox ships to unlock the trait then switch back to the 1000vet ship.
Sends 'golden ticket' emails to lots of "loyal" players but misses out numerous other players who meet the same criteria.
Lets some players win multiple lock box ships whilst others just get loads of kit modules.
Charges the same amount of 'money' for a three pack of T6 ships as it does for a single costume.
Sorry - not going to even try to make any sense of any of this.
If its random, wouldn't you expect some people to win several ships, and other not to?
No, not really. Because the UK National Lottery is 'random' too and yet, so far as I recall, there has only ever been one instance where the same person won the grand prize twice (and even then there was a gap of several years between).
It’s a bit different here. People that win 10 times more ships than others might also open 1000 times more boxes than others.

More like a raffle where the guy who bought hundreds of tickets wins several times compared to the guy who bought one ticket and didn't win anything who then complained about it.
(if indeed that is what happened - I've heard of one person winning two or three ships within minutes, so is this 'seven in a row' claim simply someone who purchased numerous 'prize ships' from the exchange?)
You should go watch some videos of people opening lockboxes instead of just assuming things. They have an inventory full of them.. And I mean a large inventory with only a row or 2 available (or full and they let stuff go into overflow), and then they just start blasting through the boxes. I think my largest inventory can hold something like 100 stacks. So that would be 2000 boxes they're opening. So if they got the "average" rate for the big prizes, then they'd get around 8 of them in a matter of minutes. The hardcore gamblers in games like this don't mess around with piddly little amounts.
I don't know about luck, but it is certainly very random. I have gotten 5 Kelvin connies since the AoY launch, two of which were an hour apart. That was maybe 60-70 boxes in total. That's more ships than I've ever gotten out of previous lockboxes, that's for sure. I actually suspect that the drop rate is a bit higher with the Kelvin boxes.
Nonetheless, it is a gamble, and you can't complain if you get squat.
P.S. OP, you can't "win" a Kelvin Dreadnought. Those are lobi store ships, not lockbox.

If that "certain player" is who i think he is than you should be aware that he burns trough hundreds of keys every week. He always has at least 20+ prize ships lying around, billions of EC and millions of refined dilithium. He has been under investigation by Cryptic several times but his conducts always withstood scrutiny. You can't possibly take this player as proof that lockboxes are rigged.
Lockbox ships have a 0.5% chance to give out a prize ship. Therefore you're likely to go through several hundred of those before you see your desired ship. If you're looking for certainty, buy them from the exchange.

Yea, both lock box- (win out of a box) as well as lobi-ships (from lobi store for lobi) can be acquired and then sold on the exchange for EC.

look in the exchange the dreadnought is in fact in the exchange I seen it myself
uh, lobi Ships come boxed, you can actually sell them on the exchange.
did you bother to look in the lobi store when you read his post?
it costs 900 lobi
If you opened so many lockboxes, why don't you use the lobi you got and buy a Kelvin Dreadnought with it.
If you would rather have a Connie, sell it and use the EC to buy a Connie
It seems to me you don't really care what people are telling you in this thread and are just content to 'stomp your feet and hold your breath' until someone gives you what you want.
Lockboxes are a gamble. As any gamble, the price can be super-low or super-insane depending on the RNG (ie your luck).
The chance to get a jackpot is very very low to begin with. The safer way is to buy the keys and sell them for EC to get your desired ship on the Exchange. Only downside is (if you wanted them) that you get no Lobi-crystals for doing so.
cryptic/pe took my lobi from the times I was saving they did it on an accident and yet they haven't done anything to help rectify that and now I am stuck with nothing

I have a lockbox ship. The Nicor. It's not my best ship. It doesn't suit my playstyle, so I have at least 3 T6 zen store ships that handily outperform it. I turned it into a fun theme build for the character that has it, so I enjoy it, but not because it's superior to anything I already have.
To the OP, it you want to build a competitive ship, you don't need a lockbox ship to do it. Instead you need a ton of fully upgraded gear, traits, special BOFF powers and other things like that that cost a ton of resources. In fact, some of those things are from the Lobi store so you're going to need to open a certain amount of lockboxes anyways, just to get the lobi itself.
The best reason to get a Kelvin timeline lockbox ship is because you like the look of the ship and want to fly that particular ship. (It's why I got a Nicor, I really liked that ship). When that's your reason then suddenly the 300 million EC price is a lot more reasonable and straight up buying the ship is a much more viable route.
Anyways, good luck with your quest for lockbox ships.

okay.
maybe you got a Golden Nagus! You check your email lately?
null Like I would get anything in the mail let alone a ship all I want is a T6 Connie or the kelvin dreadnought but I know I won't get them cause of the way the system is made not to mention that they are too expensive in the exchange
null Only problem with that is i only get 500 Zen a month like that's going to help me get these new ships and like 4 keys would do anything to help me get them
OP, how can you play continuously for seven years and not ever make 400m ec? I'm genuinely curious as to how that works. What's more: you claimed in zone chat the other day you spent 2-3,000 dollars on zen to buy keys to open lockboxes. Do you realize that if you had just sold 2,000 dollars worth of keys on the exchange you would currently have many billions of ec, enough to buy every and any lockbox ship you could possibly want?
That's a lot of keys. If $3000 worth of Zen were actually used to open boxes, shouldn't there be enough lobi to get a dreadnought?

Assuming $100 = ~600,000,000 EC (6 mil per key x 100), spending $3,000 would have netted him 18,000,000,000 EC. Enough for a lousy T6 Connie, methinks. No wonder he's so upset.
