The thing about "beliefs" being almost a mechanic is interesting. I might pinch that idea for my own forum or in-game RPs, if and when they ever get going properly. Star Trek is supposed to have a lot about beliefs and that and different people and cultures having whole different and incompatible views of the world, and I'd really like to make something of that idea, but I can't seem to do it in practice - I've just been trying to do it by desperately trying to have a "feel" for different characters' "attitudes", which the only way I can think to do it is by squinching up my eyes and hoping for something to click. Writing them down as if they were stats seems like a good idea.
For my main, for instance, it would be: "Believes technology will bite you in the butt" (she's from Ficus Prime, where it memorably did bite them in the butt); "Secretly thinks Starfleet are a bit comic" (she started in the merchant marine); "Believes rules are there to be looked at and see what we can do about bending them for you" (likewise).

The game is going to launch with a preorder at the end of this year, and then will come out in the spring next year. There’ll be an organized play and living campaign in stores and in gaming conventions and online. It doesn’t matter where you are! If you’re in a backwater with just a dirt track and an internet connection, you’ll be able to play.

I really like the sound of this. I might keep an eye on that - depending how many other RPs I'm in at that point.

FASA had created a "pen and paper" RPG long ago. I still own the game. CBS pulled the license on FASA and basically screwed them. See link:

Welcome to the forum! You have a good point there, but there is a forum rule where posting on threads older than a month old will lead to the moderators terminating the tread. So if you want to continue to talk about FASFA it may be better to do so in one of the new threads about the new Star Trek Adventures role playing books (which feature STO ships) or you can start a new thread in the ten-forward category of the forum.
