[VIDEO] Weapons? Who needs those? Sci magic FTW!

We've heard it. "Science sucks, science vessels can't do anything meaningful and why do you even need anything besides HE and FBP?" Well, they are wrong. It is possible to pack a punch without firing a single weapon!

So much fun doing that run! Looking forward to the next.

    Thank you for organizing it!

Well, playing my wife's favorite Def Leopard song on the background is one way to get her attention... She watched the whole video with me and asked what was happening. First time she's paid that much attention to Star Trek since we got married!

Depends on the viewpoint... Borg or CE probably don't share your opinion :D

it is still way more complicated to build a useful sci vessel and to play one. But it's nice to see that 6 years after launch, these builds are competitive (again).

Can someone walk me through what's happening? Outside of gravity well and the tetryon chain-reaction, I don't recognize most of the blue icons and abilities being used :(. I don't see the science-ship sensors stack-building toggle even getting used on the big targets?

((I have the terrible sensation I've been doing my fledgling Sci-Torp boat completely wrong))

There was so much stuff going on, so I didn't even remember I had Sensor Scan until Tac Cube. :D Of course it would be ideal to use that one too, but meh. I saw Nirett having it on Eli for the most part of the run though for healing bonus.

Anyhow, about the abilities I used...

Lt. Cmdr. Sci - Science Team, Tyken's Rift, Destabilizing Resonance Beam
Ens. Sci - Tachyon Beam (with starship trait Improved Tachyon Beam)
Lt. Tac - Tactical Team, Attack Pattern Beta
Lt. Eng - Engineering Team, Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field
Cmdr. Sci - Subspace Vortex, Hazard Emitters, Tractor Beam Repulsors, Gravity Well

    Interesting abilities on my tray

    7
    - Chronometric Energy Converter (Chronometric Calculations 3pc set bonus, obtainable from Time and Tide in Future Proof arc)
    0 - Aceton Assimilator
    c8 - Constriction Anchor
    c9 - Isometric Charge
c0 - Quantum Field Focus Controller (Vesta's special console)

If there's anything else you would like to ask about, please do so :)

I saw eli was prolly gonna take most attacks in and thought this run was gonna be tougher than it was. Tbh I chucked SA on targets closer to the end. If we do it again I'll be using SA just on targets.

My full build can be found here:

Note, I'd consider this pretty much a "gimmick" build. It works, but it isn't optimal.

Admittedly, I flew poorly in this run. It was a new build I was running for the first time, on a ship I've owned for 2 days. Needless to say, I was reading tooltips while the run was going on (you can see me hover my mouse button to double check the skills on the tray) so I missed proper Sensor Scan/Analysis points and I also missed my BioMol Shield spawn point (I was supposed to do right transformer side).

So yeah I was flying slightly lost for some time there. I was like...

Thank you for the detailed template :). I'm running a Paradox with a Romulan/KDF captain so I'll need ot juggle a little, but I can move that direction steadily. I bought a subspace vortex III and will push to do Blood of Ancients for the Destabilizing resonance beam. Basically I've always wondered what science-abilities get used to drill a hole for the torpedoes :yum:. This gives me some better ideas.

How are you liking the Eternal? Of the future-tech ships we just got it is by far the most interesting to me...

It's a pretty good ship. Pretty maneuverable, high shields and decent hull. It has a very flexible layout in my opinion (you can go heavier on Sci or Tac) and the Temporal BOff abilities add new build possibilities so they are worth looking into.

The Molecular Deconstruction Beam itself is not anything to phone home about, but the different configurations you can use to stack point for it are pretty useful.
