Once the TOS character has arrived in the 25th century and started flying 25th century ships with 25th-century transporters, there is no logical reason why the transporter effect should still be TOS-era, or why the character needs to pull out a TOS handheld communicator to call for beamup (that what combadges are for!).
This is immersion-breaking enough in any event, but even more so in missions like "Stranded In Space" where the player's ship transports some NPCs separately from the player. The NPCs are beamed out with the 25th-century transporter effect, and then the player's away team is beamed to the same ship, using presumably the same transporters, but with the TOS effect!

It's not. It's WAI.
People were talking about this for a while during the "build up". Transporter effects (and tricorders, and beam-outs, etc.) are "baked" into the character's "faction". That's why, for those who have (and use) one, the Diplomacy BOff uses the "opposite faction" effect - when you beam down with, say, a KDF Orion, she'll use the tap-wrist red beamout of the KDF alongside the 4 other Feddies who are going all sparkly in 25th century Fed Blue...
