What is the point?

Ive noticed the TOS story line will only take my captain to around level 10 or so. I have 11 Federation characters already, all of them with complete upgraded gear, completed reputations and specializations. What is the point of leveling another fed character to 60? Would it be best to just level him to the end of the Agents of yesterday arc and then delete? I know of no special bonuses to have a Temporal Agent character, and I do not feel like grinding rep, admiralty and specialization on yet another fed character. Was there new content added for existing characters that are level 60 already?

    Did you spend any Money?

If not, you missed the point.

There's lots of bonuses. The two most important ones to me are the following. First, by maxing out your reputation on this new character, all of your characters will forever be able to purchase new rep gear that is automatically Mk XIII Ultra Rare. This is a big deal especially for certain warp cores. Second, you get account wide access to a really nice ship trait. All other endgame systems have bonuses for maxing them out too.

Umm, there are lots of rewards for the AoY characters, check the blog in the galactic news network subforum for "Temporal Recruit" .

Hm you kinda both refer to the new Recruitment event attached to the AoY characters at the moment. When that one is over in 6 weeks the OP’s comments still stand.

I will only be creating a single character for this "faction." So I do agree that there isn't any point for me to create more new characters. However, I'm sure that there will always be TOS fans that are happy to create new TOS characters. Just because I'm not one of them, doesn't mean that others won't enjoy the content.

What's the point to anything, really? Why even play the game? How will it benefit your life in the long run? Will it make you wealthier? Wiser? More beloved?

Personally, I play for fun. If something isn't bringing me long-term benefits, so what? I'm pretending to fly a starship, not managing an annuity.

Confused on this. When you say max out reputation, do you mean max all the reputations out or just the new Temporal rep? And will I still have to run the projects for gear on my other characters, just the result will be mark XIII instead of mk XII when the project completes?

i cant say I was all that bowled over by the prospects of this ToS faction or the AoY expansion but look at it this way, you have a free character slot and you only have to play your character up to level 10 within the next 6 weeks while the main event is running, once you reach level 10 and you take possession of the Temporal Transponder you can simply play this character as and when you like even if only for the account unlocks, it will not cost you anything and you may find some of the account unlocks are worth pursuing but you have no obligation to rush through any of that unless you choose to do so.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

As I understand the transponder, I will still have to play this new character in order to disable these probes. Or can this be done on other characters? I was told that every 10 levels you unlock rewards.

I finished the AoY story arc yesterday, enjoyed it. But the prospect of playing through the whole rest of the campaigns again creates a feeling of tediousness, tbh.

Also once you get to the Klingon War I thought I remember reading that it was suppose to get more voice overs in the missions. Has that happened or is that coming later?

You must max out all 9 reputation systems.

The result is Mk XIII Ultra Rare instead of Mk XII Very Rare. The "Ultra Rare" part is the big deal. Certain items are significantly better at ultra rare than at very rare. Read more below.

you will need to use your new ToS character to do this and to unlock the rewards but once you have the Temporal Transponder there is no time limit on how long it takes you to do this, it doesn't matter if you do it all in a month or if it takes you a year or if you never finish this quest ever, it is entirely up to you to set your own pace so you can pick and choose when you want to play your ToS character or when you would rather be playing one of your other characters, that is entirely up to you to decide.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

Are you sure that rep bonus is to all your captains? Spec, story, admiralty and duty officer all says unlocked for all your captains...the rep one does not. That leads me to think that one is only for the AoY toon.
That's a good point. Unlike the other bonuses, this one doesn't actually say "all captains." I guess that there's only one way to find out.

Like the op, I am disappointed. Several news missions, bunch of useless ships, delta recruit stuff, a new rep and that's it? And you call that an expansion? We are far behind Legacy of Ormulus or Delta Rising...

personally, I probably won't level that one to max...I like to stay in the 23rd century for a while. The rewards are nice, true especially for a beginner, but for me not really something I have to get.
What I'm a little disappointed at is, that there is no option to stay in the 23rd century...not calling for a whole new galaxy map to explore, but maybe a few sidemissions within the 23rd century map...option to create foundry missions on the map and so on. Doesn't even need to be max character level.
    Go pro or go home

This. I was lamenting the fact that I could not travel back to the 23rd century and explore the map a bit more, as well as socialize on ESD. I really hope they open it up as a temporal social area with like you suggested, some missions. Make it to where only 23rd century (and 26th with 23rd skins) ships can enter (disable ship customization and switching while there) and they would have a gold mine.
