Tbh they need to make 1 small very simple change, make those training manuals BtA they are common quality and Ensign powers not going to be the end of the world if they become BtA ..... sure I get that they are meant to be something unique to ToS characters but I don't think you will se a lot of people complaining.

I'd also like to see the later skills given TOS effects as well, gonna look odd having a TOS mortar next to a 25c phaser turret imho.
Nit to hijack your thread, but I can't even find Tier 3 temporal abilities/manuals to train my boffs with. Seems I can't craft them (yet?) either. And none are on Exchange (and how could they be?! There's no category for them, even)
@meimeitoo use the all category on the exchange for now, naturally they forgot.to add a category for it. Beforewarned.theyre rediculously overpriced right now
They really need to do something about this, either add them to the 25 c ESD or make them craftable by temporal agent characters (that way they can still remain character bound), who the hell thought it would be a good idea to add them to a trainer in a social zone you only visit once or twice and without EC or bank access.
It looks like there is no way to acquire a training manual for "Tactical Team 1 (23c.)" or "Engineering Team 1 (23c.)", these appear to be the only 23c skills that are unobtainable via manual. My plan was to load up Skavrin, T'Met, and Tarsi with all the 23c skills. I noticed the Bridge Officer Trainer does not offer these skills. I then purchased a dil boff from Bridge Officer Requisitions that had that skill to convert it to a manual, upon doing so none of the ensign skills are available to convert to a manual.
It makes absolutely no sense to have the unique items be limited to the tutorial and then never see them again and no possiblity for 23c characters to ever return to ESD. What a waste of assets for an hour of gameplay.

Thanks for that. I made a second AOY character with the intention of parking her at 23rd c. ESD to funnel BOffs/manuals to my main AOY character. Already knew the manuals were BoP, but didn't know that I wouldn't be able to convert BOffs to the right manuals.
Devs, you guys really need to make these manuals available in the 24th century.
Except for the transporter effect (eye candy for some) and perhaps the engineering mortar any other BOFFs anyone think it is a "must" to get?
yes. 1/2(or more) of the point of making a 23c Alt is the flavor of that character compared to others... These skills are directly tied into that flavor.

Also, slightly off-topic but the devs went to the trouble of creating TOS space & ground equipment for Marks 1 to 9, only to have them become unavailable after the time-jump. That is another reason for the TOS ESD to be re-visitable.
the ship gear and kit modules(yes there's a kit vendor) are freely tradable after purchase. I'm not sure yet, but I think they may have a preset series of mods they gain. I upgraded one of the warp cores and it KEPT the 23c picture and gained [SecSpd]... not a common mod. Unless that changed recently.
This is probably going to sound weird to the rest of the thread, but I would like it to be a toggle of some sort ... simply because, now that my character is in the 25th, using all 25th century equipment and starships, it makes no sense (to me) to have the old FX showing up.
What would be ideal, of course, would be to make the FX context sensitive - so in missions taking place in the past, they're of that era. (And even then, some people would probably prefer not to do it that way. So, toggle.)

I don't know how easy that is from the back end of things. It's really unfortunate from my perspective that they don't give you more in respect to 23c Boffs so that your effects are consistent throughout. Same with the ship weapons. I think that's the biggest shame in the whole temporal operative pack (mostly, I'm satisfied with it) that the ships that come out of it come with basic starfleet gear and not AoY.

Thing is though, kind of ultimately defeats the purpose of making a TOS char except for experiencing a different tutorial? I am more and more getting the impression that if all this isn't intentional, AOY is probably the most rushed and unfinished, unpolished expansion I've ever seen. It seems like a lot of wasted dev effort as things stand now, and to call it as much of a faction as the Romulans is quite far out there as well. May as well have just made all the special effects a special package in the store that can apply to any federation character, give some time travel missions to the past and call it a day rather than a fraction of a subfaction.

And oddly enough the dev's apparently spent longer on this AoY stuff then they did on LoR, makes you wonder what the hell they spent all that time on...
You do understand that people want them for the FX..........right??
We'd get a whole gad damned redux of effects if it were up to me. Bring that TRIBBLE back! I theme my toons. If I make a Romulan, I want all Romulan, all the time. Republic uniforms, Republic weapons, Ships with the right skin... I want the weapons to be the right color, so I get the ones from the rep and upgrade them.
My DREAM (as far as this game goes) has been for a TOS themed character, with TOS beam up effects, TOS weapons, TOS tricorder, etc. You damned right I want them for the FX.
This argument about the 23rd century effects persisting after the time jump; Make a 25th century if you don't like it. I wouldn't make a Romulan then complain about the green beam in while using fed TRIBBLE.
So next time I log on. I'm taking down the stats of my AOY. And redoing her, so this way I can get the stuff before I leave the 23c. Good thing I'm not too far along in the Klingon story arc.

I did the same thing.
Deleted my AoY after realizing that these were only available in the past, got to that last officer and chose the one with Tactical Team.
Then saw that I could not crate a manual for that using them.
Wondering if it was some sort of odd glitch, I then spent 240 dilithium on one of the BOFFs that the vendor sells that had Tac Team.
Same result. No option to create the manual.
I can't just stay in the past waiting for them to fix this, so now I can only hope that they fix it to where I can create a manual using one of those BOFFs later, they add the manual to the vendor later and make it BoA, they make these manuals available in the "current day" game (say, adding a temporal vendor or just adding a "buy tab" to what's his name outside Quinn's office on ESD) for training 23c BOFFs, or they just give every AoY free manuals that can only be used to train 23c BOFFs.
Yeah the Temporal Operative Tier III Manuals would probably be pricey right now as only a few of us could craft them. The first night that Temporal Operative Specialization Qualification were running for over 1 million each, but that was because Cryptic scr*ewed up and had the Lt Commander and Commander skills be Tier III ones that only Characters could craft.
Normally they are Tier II skills that you could buy from the Trainer Vendor. They fixed that with last Thursday's patch. Price has dropped to around 340k EC accordingly.

Edit: I'm agreeing with you btw aeolusdallas.
Yeah, it's totally plausible your ship's transporters look different depending on the species of the person being transported.
Rainbow beam-down, go!
