Well, Thomas the Cat just dumped a bucket of cold water on this, via Reddit:
Nothing to see here guys. In general we make the material for a ship before we build the ship and I was using the TOS Connie geo as a test bed for the new Kelvin Constitution material. I'm glad this thread came out to remind me to remove it. :p Everyone back to work!

    Yeah, I don't believe that.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Its really an odd pattern how often a Trek fan after hearing news they don't like has "well whoever said it must be lying" as their go to response.

Star Trek Magazine says 0718 is coming to STO.
    --They're probably lying!
Hey, the KT Connie's pretty darn big. Check these pics.
--Your' just flying behind it to make it look bigger.
The Designer just said CBS specifically instructed him to make it 721 meters long
    --lies, all lies.
Here's a hunk of the Vengeances stats from an Easter egg Cryptic sent out in a Twitter pic
--Cryptic would never to that and whoever says they did is a liar!
Hey, the extra skins you're seeing for the T1 Constitution on the test server are just some old data and will be removed.
    --LIARS!!!

Its getting a little desperate at this stage. Maybe you could just wait and see?

    Liar.....lol
    Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

Well, to be fair, the Vengeance stats didn't come from a twitter post. At least it's not where most people are getting them from.

You know, this actually kinda makes me curious as to how the KT Constitution class would look with the TOS era Connie's color scheme.

No links will be posted for unreleased content.

However, the fact that there is a confirmed item added to the Ferengi set right now on the live servers called Battle Module 4000 is all you need to know; if you are a wise person you will know what to do next.

No, they didn't initially. But some of us have played along faithfully with the 'no referencing leak' rules. But once they post it themselves, I don't see how those rules can apply to that information any more. They put it out there and we recognized it. Fair game has been declared.

True enough. As to the other post, I see no harm in using the same breadcrumbs I did in order to help someone along. Of course, when I used said crumbs a few months back, the trail was much more faint. Apparently the destination has become a much more popular vacation spot as of late.

I do like it, but odds are pretty good Paramount doesn't want their KT assets being smeared over non-KT hulls.

Well since Cryptic now has access to the JJ verse, which is owned by Paramount if I remember correctly, they can make a T6 Connie from the movie, because CBS doesn't own the movies. It won't be the TOS Connie, but it will be a Connie.
I hear they are also creating the Narada, as a carrier T'Laru class, it will have the drill as its special console. As well as the Vengeance class as a dreadnought i think. I think I also saw a Ferengi Cruiser called the Nagus or something.

no TOS t6 connie, but we get a JJ one.

for myself, it's like asking for filet mignon and red wine, and getting a big mac and a diet coke instead. :(

It would be fair since they are coming out AR ships for the players to use at T6. Then they should have the T6 Connie and T6 Connie Refit as well.

If not you will have a lot of angry players and customers on their hands. My self personally will not be pleased at all. The Spoof Trek gets T6 ships, but the original won't make it.

Say 'spoof' again, because that's really the moment were I started to enjoy your lack of getting the service you want. Because normally I'm all in favor of everybody having their brand of good time within the limits of the De'vs development hours, but that kind of petulance makes it hard not to just laugh.

Actually I have ONLY ever seen you be provocative and trollish towards those who disagree with you on this topic.

Because if you want consideration and courtesy, you need to show it. I'm completely sympathetic to wanting T6 TOS ships, the Constitution class in particular. But when you chain it to making mockery of other parts of the SAME DAMN PROPERTY you do in fact get my scorn. As you say, I'm pretty consistent in that regard.
  • gradiigradii Member Posts: 2,824 Arc User
Personally I don't think its a mockery I think it's more a case of "missing the point" or "losing the feel". JJ abrams version of star trek was a cool action movie to me but it didn't remind me of star trek philosophically speaking.

well, then he succeeded, because philosophical trek is NOT what he was going for, as he himself admitted

Out of curiosity, what would you say are the philosophical highlights of the non-KT movies?

Step one in appreciating a story is understanding the medium. 46 minutes a week vs. 130 minutes every three years tends to attract different kinds of stories - and viewers. The producers who forgot that for Nemesis (which is an amazing 2-part TV episode and a blighted mess of a movie...) got a lesson that killed the previous cycle of movies dead and caused not inconsequential damage to the brand as a whole. 40 minutes of introspection/deep space navel gazing is great sitting on the couch noshing diner. People don't want to go out and pay $15 a seat for it.

Interestingly my mother (a huge geek in her own right) came out of ST2009 absolutely beaming. Se loved that the whole old crew were treated as the Academy's unabashed wunderkin. Not just any crew, but the best of the best in their respective specialties. She felt that set them up much better for their incredible track record of triumph over every adversity seen in the original series.

If that's what's bugging you, I hope you also choose to ignore the existence of pretty much all of Voyager, most of the last two seasons of DS9, and season 3 of Enterprise. Those all set the stage for the feel of the reboot - all action with just enough nostalgia to make it recognizable as Trek. Come to think of it, that pretty much perfectly describes STO as well.

VOY had its bad episodes to be sure. ENT can get off the hook somewhat becuase pre federation-ethics era stuff. Maybe the JJ stuff will get better as it goes on but I'm just not seeing it so far.

I honestly don't know why more STO players aren't foaming at the mouth for JJTrek stuff. I mean, those movies ARE an onscreen representation of Federation gameplay in STO.
