I'm Cautiously Optimistic about the Expansion on the whole...
Though I AM going to enjoy the hell out of flying TOS Era ships.

Not voting because there is no "Whelmed" option. TOS was never really my cup of tea. I grew up on TNG so TOS just looked campy and primitive to me. I understand there are other people who really love TOS and I think they should enjoy it.
Part of being a fan of STO is that sometimes Cryptic comes out with expansions and content revolving around parts of the franchise you really don't care for. Cryptic has managed to create 2 of these themes back-to-back for me with the Na'Kuhl (from the worst storyline ever in Enterprise), and with the campy 1960's Agents of Yesterday launch. On top of all that, I really hate time travel. It was never a storytelling device I felt should be used that much, but they're really going all out with it, which further just makes me wish this storyline in STO would get over with ASAP.
I'm not outraged or upset. I'm not even disappointed. I'm just kind of indifferent, because I've gotten a lot of what I wanted from STO already and eventually they'll come around and produce content that is relevant to my interests.
That's called compromise, and thus I'm just "whelmed" at the AoY news.
I'm with Iconians on the vote thing. I'm certainly not overwhelmed, but I'm not underwhelmed and definitely not disappointed. I'm modestly whelmed. A good neutral whelm.
AoY so far looks about like I expected. Far from what I hoped, better than what it could have been. Good enough, at least, to have me seriously considering springing for the starter pack (I might have by now if I knew the stats on the T6 temporal ships and whether or not there will be TOS-style phasers in all weapon classes (TOS Phaser DBB, TOS Phaser DHC, TOS Phaser Turret, etc)). I'm looking forward to playing it. And as much as I dread the leveling process, the alt-oholic in me is really happy for an excuse to roll a new character, even if it's just one.
only reason i login these days is for the free ship from the summer event, might create a character for AoY but beh will probably dump him halfway thru once i realise its just a glorified tutorial.
what a shame, had such high expectations for this game but its just a whole lotta pew pew pew and thats about it.
sad thing is most of the playerbase are addicted to buying new ships thinking its "content" hahaha
and to think swg got it right and that was like 13 years ago, this game should have been sandbox but then again the current trend of players are just to lazy to think outside of the box...all they want is to be shown the way.
level up,gear up and run raids, that is basically all that theme park mmos offer these days.
just let this game die already so maybe some other developer that does know how to do things picks up the ip and we can then play a proper star trek mmo,you know less pew pew pew and more exploration and diplomacy.

Yeah, same here. I also felt the same about the Iconian plot including time travel...
None of the choices really describe how I feel, so I suppose I'm in the "waiting to see more" category with others.
I have no definitive view of TOS versus TNG or current timespace, in fact, I was actually hoping they'd expand on the temporal time-travel thing a bit more with alternative universe travel and/or chapter stories so we can shake up the current content offering a bit.
That said, I suppose I'm waiting to see what this actually ends up being... I rather enjoyed the previous episodes of time travel, yet now I'm seeing the new expansion as just another new episodic content offering replete with TOS theming/skins rather than an alternative expanded universe ripe for exploration. (sort of like a new "quadrant", for example)
We'll just have to wait and see what's offered. If it's some linear chapter-based introduction with no real exploration value other than a new storyline and zip from place to place then I'll probably be waiting till I'm in the mood to bother with it. The whole "retro TOS feel" of the new ships being offered really doesn't tickle my fancy personally, so I doubt seriously I'll be jumping on buying the pack. I've got tons of ships available now (including a few T6's) and don't quite see where there's much difference and/or advantage to yanking out the wallet and sinking more money in it just yet. I suppose a bit of this is also disappointment/bias toward the tier pricing scheme lately since it seems they've priced in-game content (with no real tangible value) at the same price as you'd pay for a full-blown AAA game these days.
Again, my opinion- YMMV
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

While I'm indifferent to the launch of AoY, I can say I was underwhelmed at the Iconian War storyline. The time travel element to the story cheapened what could have been an excellent climax to a story 5 years in the making, and really illustrated why time travel should be used sparingly, and only in "self-contained" stories in Star Trek.
I haven't played many of the new Featured Episodes for that reason. I no longer feel like I'm in control of the situation, that I'm just along for the ride. Granted, the other stories in Star Trek Online are exactly like that (that you're just along for the ride), but when you introduce characters and technology several hundred years in the future, it's a bit more obvious that you really have no say in any of this, you're meddling in affairs that you don't understand and all you can do is hope for the best.
The Iconian War was like that. The only time the player feels in control of the situation is when they're fighting for Qo'noS in orbit or on the ground.
I'm neither overwhelmed, underwhelmed, nor disappointed. Frankly I'm surprised anyone can even have such an opinion now as the content hasn't even been released yet (I know Tribble - I've played whats out so far, but that is but a small part of expansion and is still in the works).
This poll smacks of negativity and I'm unclear why the Poll-maker has such hostility and pessimism. Please OP explain.

But not disapointed at the content shown.
