risa events artifact sand scavenger mini game

Can anyone tell me how to find a artifact on this mini game? I have played it 5 times and get close and closer to target but never find anything and no way of knowing or seeing a sign? then just run out of areas to look? what i am i doing wrong or missing here? please...
