Thanks for your response. I will briefly add these responses in the same order as the short guide provided to me in your response.

1. Logout of the game for no less than 15 minutes. -- I attempt this mission about once a day after returning home from work. I believe I have satisfied the 15 minutes logout requirement.
2. If in party, all teammates must do the same. -- I am not teamed/partied
3. When logging back in, you'll be back in sector space and continue your mission where you left off (phase/stage). --Yes I know, I have done this once a day when i return home from work.
4. Proceed with mission and fulfill each non-optional objective in the order provided by the game and don't deviate. -- when i continue, i travel directly to the warp beacon, and warp to the next system (Idran) after watching the cutscene i'm forced to watch (can not skip as each attempt is my "First Time Playing that episode" since i've never been able to complete it.
5. Let the cinematics (if any) run to the end to ensure that the mission updates correctly. -- See previous point, I am forced to watch the cinematic to the end as it's the "First Time"
6. If applicable in your current mission, turn-in your mission first before leaving the mission map. -- I have no missions at this point which can be turned in.

This concludes your short guide. Seemingly completely unhelpful in resolving the issue.

An interesting note I can provide for you. My friend in another country is currently working on his Delta Recruit (Federation, unlike my kdf delta recruit experiencing this issue). Yesterday he completed and turned in "Of Bajor", and then began "Operation Gamma", and after the brief shuttle skirmish under DS9 and heading to the wormhole, watched the cinematic (Fully, to completion), travelled to the warp beacon, warped to the next system (Idran) and has the exact same issue being unable to target the shield generator. The Target box is glitched identically the same as the attached bmp in my initial bug report. He has also reported gameplay bug.

I wonder if instead of writing a brief generic 6 point guide, more could be accomplished by playing the episode and seeing for yourself.

As it stands your 6 point "Short Guide" could easily have been shortened down to "Have you tried turning it off and then on again?" which is more than insulting, especially given that you or your team of responders have not played the episode for yourselves in an attempt to replicate the problem.

So far i only know that this affects delta recruits. I have not tested in with my other characters. ---EDIT Just attempted this with my first character which has previously completed the episode YEARS ago. The problem exists for my Vulcan Federation character as well. I believe it is reasonably safe to assume you can replicate this problem with ANY Character from any faction.

Please have a REAL look. Attempt the episode "Operation Gamma" and i'm certain the problem will present itself.

Thank you in advance for doing a better job of investigating reported problems.

Here I will post the initial response regarding the gameplay bug from Perzes, Game Master, Perfect World Entertainment.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

I understand that you are having issues targeting the shield generator in Operation Gamma. This is best solved by restarting the current phase of your mission. Please note that you will only lose the progress for this phase of the mission, not the whole mission itself. Please follow the short guide I've written below:

1. Logout of the game for no less than 15 minutes.
2. If you are in a party, all your teammates must likewise do the same.
3. When you log back in, you should be back in Sector Space, you can then continue your mission on the phase/stage where you left off.
4. Proceed with the mission and fulfill each non-optional objectives in the order these were provided by the game, and please refrain from deviating from it until you have finished your current mission.
5. Let the cinematics (if any) run to the end to ensure that the mission updates correctly.
6. If applicable in your current mission, turn-in your mission first before leaving the mission map.

If the issue persists, please submit a bug report with all the information related to it directly to our QA team. Simply click the "?" icon located on your minimap and select "Report a Bug".

Do note that bug reports are reviewed by members of the QA team and you will not be able to edit or view any reported bugs.

I also recommend posting this to our Gameplay Bug Reports forum, as this would be a good topic to discuss with the Moderators and QA. Our Development Team and Community Teams check the forums often as well.

Ok just let me clarify, this is the mission where you destroy sensors under DS9 then fight of fighters and repair drones
then head through the wormhole looking for gamma Founders.

Did you try just right-clicking the shield generator? Some missions I have come accross just don't let you tab target
what you need to destroy and right-clicking usually works.

right click, left click , f1 to target self. none of it works because the top RIGHT of the object box (white line) is improperly shifted to the top LEFT (it's drawn wrong is the giveaway), and the top right has NO white object box line whatsoever. The reason Target SELF doesn't work is because the object box isn't complete, therefore the shield generator blocking off entrance to the asteroid is a NEUTRAL item.. so it can't be an enemy object since it's technically not an object at all. and yes, that's the correct mission

So that's it, weeks have gone by and NOBODY has bothered to replicate this issue? It's STILL Bugged guys. How does one "Bump" this?

Ok I've looked into this issue and appears to be working fine. I've included a video of the said portion of the game I'm assuming this is the right portion of the game let me know if it's not.

As for targeting the sensor clusters, it's not needed, one simply flies close enough to them for the interact box to appear, as for targeting the fighters, well they're easy and big enough to manually click on. The worker bees, personally I use the tab button to auto target them.

First off, thank you for actually trying the mission. That being said, the part that's bugged is actually AFTER you go through the wormhole, approach the beacon, and watch the cutscene. You are then put outside of an asteroid in the Idran system with a "shield generator" blocking progress to the INSIDE of the asteroid where you find Ferak the Ferengi.
At this point, you will have two objectives completed, the third objective awaiting completion is to destroy the shield generator, thus the aptly named thread can't complete etc etc etc untargetable shield generator. Not having any problems disabling the sensor clusters and or fighting the worker bees. The game is broken in the Idran system, not DS9. I await your findings :)

I've gone back through it and found the point your referring to. I've good news and bad news. Bad news first I can indeed confirm that the shield generator is initially not target-able as indicated in the attached video. Good news is I've found one work around that will allow to progress and a potential second one that will also allow you to progress. With the first one there's a catch which is you need access to the Refracting Tetryon Cascade which for those that don't know is the T5 ability from the Nukara reputation. The second one is easier and should allow you to proceed without the Nukara ability, which involves flying around to back side of the asteroid until the interaction box appears.

Both video's have been attached. But in any case it's obviously not working as intended so I'll raise it with the OST and hopefully get it fixed. Although with how close we are to AoY going live I wouldn't expect any fix to be applied until then.

The initial bug and first work around.

Thank you so much, I'm currently working on all 8 reputation systems on that toon (just hit tier 4) and will have the nukara ability soon.

    Very important note:
Your other workaround about interacting with Ferak from OUTSIDE the asteroid does indeed work, however because you haven't completed the objective of destroying the shield generator, the game does not allow you to interact with the NEXT objective which is of course career dependant interaction with the satellites, the part where you disarm them before they can explode by choosing the correct two answers per satellite. (If memory serves correctly that is)

Final Note for anyone trying to complete this episode with a new toon such as a delta recruit or whenever AoY releases: Because you are likely not going to have any reputation started yet, rather than waiting forever to progress through Nukara Reputation, Team up with a friend who has the Nukara Rep unlocked. Otherwise you will be waiting a VERY long time for reputation, or for Cryptic to fix the issue. Sadly, you'll likely finish Rep (hopefully sponsored toon) before this gets fixed.

I have reports from a fellow player who uses a yellowstone runabout (since this is a shuttle mission) that he is able to use the yellowstone's tractor beam somehow to trigger the fix.

A Huge Thank you to Sqwished for his help.

Anything that is activatable out of combat and puts you into combat will help to be able to shoot the generator.

As a science toon, for instance, Sensor Scan (and I believe Scattering Field as well) close to the generator works. You may have to disable the "Never auto target objects" setting in Controls if it is enabled.

For the record the asteroid debris in the Cold case mission is also affected and as such I've added this to the OST report that I submitted. Thanks again for the reports guys. Please feel free to raise any other issue and I'll try and help where I can.

    Um...
I've played this mission through about half a dozen times or so this past few weeks whilst levelling up some characters. I did not encounter this problem.

I encountered the problem just yet.
I tried luring some swarmers (which are on the other side of the asteroid) to the generator and voilà, being under red alert & using FAW i could actually target the generator and destroy it.

Hmm... Not sure why, but although I couldn't target it, I could FaW it just fine, without any special tricks... Or maybe, it was point defence console...

The collectors edition Automated Defense Battery Console from the cstore legacy unlock section also works. Its a rare (blue)) tactical console that shoots. It worked for me.
