Server gone wobbly again?

captainoblivouscaptainoblivous Member Posts: 2,284 Arc User
Chat seems to have gone down, with a lot of rubber banding in game. Is it just me?

EDIT
Never mind, it came back up and is seemingly back to normal

EDIT2

guess I spoke too soon. Here's my (rather odd) tracert

last night (gmt+1 timezone), I had at least 3 disconnections from server in less than 45 mins, and the maps loading was very slow.

same thing for a guy from my fleet. he was not able to stay connected more than a few minutes, finally he left the game. (US east zone timezone)

It doesn't seem that way, not according to my previous tracert.

Thought I'd do another one. It isn't quite so weird, but has a timeout at the same hop.

No, you're not the only one. I've been trying to log in after the 1Gb patch installed and haven't had any luck. I make it to the "Cryptic" window and that's it. Oh, and I'm in San Diego, CA.

I'm now concerned for how my login attempt is going to go...

EDIT: All is well. But I jumped in on Tribble, so my luck was likely better.

I just pinged crypticstudios.com and got no connection at all. Way to go, Cryptic.

Don't know about any of the current up or down status, but I have noticed that loading screens has gotten very bad. More often than not I get a Server Not Responding in red with a timer for how long it hasn't responded. Loading has gotten to the point where it's painful. I wince every time I click to go to a different area.

I can't even get the launcher to get to past the "connecting" phase. It's just frozen there.

Edit: Peace out. Leaving for now and coming back when Cryptic takes the moth balls out of the hamster wheels. :P

This happens to me sometime between 3:00PM and 3:30PM Eastern US time every Sunday. The STO and NW servers become inaccessible, and not at the same time; it's usually STO first, followed by NW. My surmise is that there's a router or switch undergoing a reboot, and it only services parts of the 'net that are using the same providers as I am. (I've already queried the providers in the network chain up to CogentCo, and it almost looks like it's past the first line of CogentCo hardware. Cryptic/PWE looked into it over a year ago but never sent back any conclusions as to what it might be.) Other players don't see the outage, so it isn't the entire server farm (if there's a server farm) and it isn't the server (if there's no server farm). The downtime per connection (STO/NW) seems to be 20-30 minutes. Champions Online also has the outage, but I haven't determined its order compared to the other two games. For all I know this is a scheduled reboot script that everyone has forgotten still runs in order to reset the network hardware on a weekly basis.

Also getting +30 secs SNR's on most map changes, happening a while now, never used to, something has changed.

Funny they say its not an issue and gameplay is not affected, 30secs SNR every time u change map adds up over a game session, certainly affects my gameplay. /shrug
