Use of the Mouse for movements

Can someone explain how the movement keys are tied into the mouse buttons for me?

Background:
I am so very uncoordinated with the WASD buttons for movement. So, way back when I started playing this game, my friend taught me to move using my mouse.

I move/fly around in the game by holding down the left and right mouse keys together to move forward and slide the mouse one direction or another to "turn". I can adjust the direction of the camera by holding one button, I can turn the direction the avatar is facing on the screen by holding down the other button (can not remember exactly which button does which right now, I kinda do it without thinking at this point).

I am concerned that when STO changes everything to work on a console system, my mouse will no longer be "set up" in this way and I will need to know how to reconnect everything back up (had this problem with Neverwinter).

I know that it has to do with keybinds....but I do not know what they are. Right now, I would be out of luck, should I lose them. I wouldn't be able to do missions without my mouse.

If anyone knows and can pass along the information: details of what keybinds are being used to make my mouse work this way?

I have similar issue, I need my cadet to move in direction of cursor, If I turn my view my cadet should face that direction and move in direction I see. It should be simple, follow the cursor. Their has to be away in the setup to do that. Has anyone done that, if so tell me.

@bznee Sounds like you want Shooter Mode rather than RPG Mode. I believe by default the toggle is B. Otherwise you can check your keybinds in options.
    That being said...
