Similarity between new T6 Sagittarius Class and Enterprise J

So i was looking over the new temporal special agent pack and noticed a massive similarity in the saucer section between the new T6 Sagittarius Class and the Enterprise J seen in Star Trek Enterprise

The Enterprise J

Mainly I am seeing this in the saucer and the deflector dish and the front of the saucer section. Also the extra curved layer on the inside of the saucer.

Really to me the Sagittarius saucer looks like a squashed Enterprise J saucer.

It's enough of the ENT-J that you can get a thrill from using it as a cruiser from that era while at the same time its different enough from the original that you don't have to argue for it being the same class (and more importantly scale.)

I wasn't in the market for another support-focused cruiser...until now.

To this day I cannot comprehend what they were thinking with the J. The distorted saucer textures are simply horrible. I know it was a rush job (even the designer hates it) but I just cannot comprehend what went into it.

That being said, the future ships from the expansion are undoubtedly inspired by the design. They look slightly better because they have fitting textures, but overall it's a horrid style. I'd prefer the Dyson aesthetic to it pig-2.gif

I am just glad they didn't take the tiny scrawny nacelles and pylons

The Paladin has a pretty similar pylon and nacelle thing going on with the actual J.

The inspiration is definitely clear. And I like that. There's a lot of "inspired by" feeling to ships lately. From the Guardian alllll the way on up to this pack. It's a direction that I really enjoy and am happy to see Cryptic taking this route. It cuts out a lot of bickering back and forth between us detail oriented fans. I can look at a Guardian and see it is inspired by an Ambassador, but realize it's NOT an actual Ambassador. And so I can appreciate the inspiration. I can look at these new temporal cruisers and absolutely see the similarity with the Enterprise J. But it's not the J. So I don't have to worry about the details becoming an obstacle.

Overall, I applaud the direction of this kind of development.

Yeah, I'm just not feeling a lot of these "future" designs. Really ugly.

Well... I think we are building up to the Battle of Procyon V against the Sphere Builders... So that design style does make sense.

I am pretty excited for this ship but I wish like most of the 4 warp nacelle ships I could remove the bottom nacelles and pylons. The Sagittarious looks like an improved verison of the Enterprise-J if those bottom nacelles and pylons were removable. IMO the ship would look amazing then.

I am still considering getting the temperal agent pack and this option would make the decision up for me. It can be done as they were able to make part of the Scryer saucer section closed or open as an option.

No hate for the designs they are all awesome
