So... What about that DS9 revamp?

Around the beginning of the season we were told we were getting a DS9 revamp. It has been months, and it's nearing season 11.5. And we haven't heard a peep about it since it was announced. Any word on when we will finally get it?

Since we learned that New Khitomer is in the Gamma quadrant, I think that the Gamma quad will feature big in season 12. And that would be the perfect time to give our "home base", DS9, a makeover too.

I can't remember when it was, but one of the Devs did post about the DS9 revamp some months back.

In short, it's still on the to do list, but it's been pushed back due to work that needed to be done on other projects. I can't see the revamp for DS9 coming until there's a purpose to revamp DS9 other than for pure cosmetics though. A complete DS9 revamp would require reworking the 2800 mission series, among a few other episodes, and would likely be involved with a Cardassian/Gamma expansion, neither of which are likely to come around anytime too soon.

DS9 is showing its age, texture wise. And Taco has said that he would LOVE to be unleashed on DS9.

Ideally, but not required. Dronza revamp didn't see the historic version of it revamped to match the new layout. Newbies playing through ESD's destruction will be playing on the old ESD with no prior experience of it. In short, it wouldn't be without precedent to just revamp the social map and leave it at that.

Perfect time was with the Cardie revamp - time pinched though and it got put back. Now it's anybody's guess. Could be with anything. I just hope it happens at all. God it would look beautiful wouldn't it?

I thought the DS9 revamp was in reference to the missions, which they've worked on some of the Cardassian arc already. Although I'd be pleasantly surprised if DS9 gets a visual update.

If they ever did redo DS9, I would hope they kept the layout it has and just update the looks more than anything, it is an iconic place in the universe, maybe add a few more decks. I do miss Terrordome though, rip that mission.
