GREETINGS FRIENDS!

As you may have heard, a great many people have been confused and upset by members of Starfleet Dental throwing a party in honor of Spock on the anniversary of his apparent Death.

As I'm sure you all know, The Graceful Spock died attempting to save the Romulan Homeworld in a Red Matter explosion of some kind... at least that's what we think. While we would like to join you in the rumors that he's alive and well, rebuilding a destroyed Vulcan in some distant, terrible alternate reality, we are left here to mourn him in our own way, and sometimes... much to the dislike of certain sensitive people, the way you choose to celebrate life.... is a little distressing.

This is why I am here with a special message, and photographic evidence to back up my claim. In the past we have pointed out that we party in one instance (any secondary instance partying is temporary until we are able to get in with the rest of the group), and as many had asked us to move for screenshots, we attempted to fulfill their desires even though we were there a day before the actual anniversary event this year. Since these arguments have only bothered the grieved further, I'm here to offer you one last thread of comfort.

As any Sane, Intelligent species can obviously see, Spock is on Positive terms with the members of Starfleet Dental's Task Force, and has been made fully aware of the situation despite potential Temporal issues, and by his own admission has no negative feelings of any kind regarding us lighting ceremonial spheres in his honor, or dancing, or telling fond memorable stories about him not getting jokes.

Once again, Thank you for your time.

-Starfleet Dental.

Tbh it kinda reminds me of a few irish wakes ive been to, they dont mourn the death but celebrate their life, by throwing a party in rememberance of their fallen family member or friend,a celebration of a persons life.

I dont find this offensive or wrong , if y'all want to party in rememberance thats y'alls right to do so. :)

Celebrating the memory of a beloved person in your life with happiness is both good and healthy.

Many real world cultures do it too.

    Sorry, I meant:

"Admirals, in the name of peace I welcome you all. Many Terran cultures in their early spaceflight history mourned their loved ones with celebrations of their past lives and achievements. Such emotional displays provided psychological and sociological benefits to the celebrants. I trust you will all join me in celebrating the life and times of such a significant contributor to our current culture in such a manner."

Thought it was better just to let it drop into oblivion instead of bringing it out again. But Dental must make a point I suppose.

Tbh crash i dont think any trek fan will forget the passing of leonard nimoy, its just one of those things people dont forget when an icon passes.

Some out there have such demons that they're still upset on a daily basis regarding their misinterpretation. The honorable Spock was very welcomed in joining us to offer people

Unfortunately, Dental will never be able to forget the passing of Spock... Although.. nimoy? you mean Nemo? Captain of U.S.S. Nautilus? I'm pretty sure that ship was a total loss when a Spacesquid got ahold of it. o_O

Meh and double meh, this thread didn't have to be posted....

It just adds to the already sour flame wars on the subject.

I won't go into my opinions on the matter as it would likely lead to a flame war. I will say that this thread feels like flame bait and imho should probably be closed, or at the very least closely monitored.

Except for the fact i find your whole post offensive, as you are using Spock/Leonard to justify your actions. thanks to that i find you have no credibility as far as i am concerned from this point on.

Feels? I'm 99.99% sure that it is flame bait. Why go to all the trouble otherwise, and why come up with this "we've gone back in time to get permission" thing?

I'm gonna have to side with you on this one.
Could have just let the issue go. Instead, Dental made this into, regretfully, propeganda and blew it way out of proportion.
Basically this thread is just ASKING to be flame bait. And using the likeness of Spock to help justify it could be, and already has, seen as an insult because of it. Again, flame bait.

Taking this seriously for a moment, I have no issue with people throwing a party in memory of someone who died. However, the only time I've ever seen such a thing in STO, it was clearly mean-spirited rather than joyful. The individual who initiated the "party" ignored the objections of those gathered for quiet mourning, and then followed when they left to find a quiet instance. I cycled through multiple instances, and this person always showed up shortly after. Causing other mourners distress is not a show of respect to anyone, least of all to Nimoy, no matter how much one thinks they're "stuffed up" for being all serious. They're showing respect the way that comes naturally to them, and to interfere with that is disrespectful to everyone involved.

that is exactly the response the op was hoping for if other comment on yours, then the op has gotten what he/she was looking for in the first place: to fan the flames.

I suppose that's possible. I'd hardly call what I said "flaming," though, it's quite calm.

not you thats doing it, your more like newspaper and kidling and the op is the one holding the torch. should look at threads like those and decide carefully if its worth the risk. in the past few weeks dental has put out some pure flame and troll bait, some of which is presented as legit but with a twist, it always is, ive noticed that any attempt to answer them directly is giving them exactly what they want and they know it. trying to answer in another direction ends up still giving them what they want, even my warning now is inadvertantly fanning the flames, but im the one burning the grass ahead of the main burn to starve it out i hope before the mods step in with fire extinguisers.. i hope.
