As an observer I've seen mud thrown on both sides.
i would love to respond to that with a base human condition which is a known fact, but it could be loooked at as trolling. so in the end, its better for this thread to die.

This still doesn't change the fact that my email ticket was excessive and the first time ever in 6 years. Most of the following replies after the OP are an offtopic/ego waste. I only am interested to see what the mods are going to do, nothing more.
IF the ultimate result would be a ban, then It's not like I can do much about it then? Except have change of opinion on how cryptic deals with its customers nowadays. Perhaps I should've send a personal message to the mods in the first place, but I honestly thought more people should see it.
Ok, OP, I wanted to support you, but making snide one-line comments about others is not helping with your case at all. Based on all the stuff you've said in this thread, no one can sympathize with you.
Don't support me. Support freedom of speech.
Even freedom of speech has limitations.
Obviously, but regardless, I still think the warning email was harsh and uncalled for. Normally I mind my own business.
"I only did it one time" is not a defense. Simply, you did it.
This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. When you logged into this game you have agreed to abide by the TOS.

arguing about it wont change a damn thing on this forum. if you want to have it looked at, contact them again and see if they are willing to look at it again otherwise, it is one of those situations where you will have to put up and take it on the chin.

One of the few sensible replies so far.
If one of the mods are reading this (and undoubtedly they will) I'd appreciate a PM regarding my situation, unless it's a ban. Either way I take it.
Well... pretty sure everyone here is not going to Valhalla. But into a burning hellfire. This pretty much sums up where the thread/forums are in my mind.
This will not end well for you. I would cut my loses now and just stop flailing around.
Someone earlier used the term Sherlock. Don't be tempted to used the familiar phrase 'No Sh*t Sherlock' as you will also find yourself with a warning and some points.
If you are banned you will either have your Avatar switched to Prison Bars or the phrase 'User Banned Please Carry On'. Now while it is against the rules to Name and Shame, I guess that rule does not apply to that.

I'm finding it difficult to believe this was a one-time offense after reading the first couple of pages of this thread, in which the OP insults other forum members one after another. OP might want to re-read this thread and reconsider how they attempt to communicate with others.
No, everyone isnt cursing all the time. It is pretty rare if you hang out with decent people. My fleet has a no swearing policy, as do many.
No, its not ok to call people rude things.
No, STO is not filled with trolls and griefers. There are some, but filled and a few jerks are not at all the same thing.
No, its not abusive to report you and not a whim when that is enforced. STO actually checks out and takes a hard line when something is reported to them. A lot of things don't get reported and the person "gets away" with it ... but if you offended someone enough to get reported, you can expect a reprisal. And a warning email is pretty mild, ... remember they can ban you (short or long term) or forum ban you or probably do any number of annoying things to you if they had wanted. You got a gentle reminder that its not cool to verbally assault people and hopefully you will restrain yourself making STO a better place in the future.
I won't report people for the occasional impolite word. But I will report someone every time for being abusive. Theres a different between "take that you $%^& cube" and "$%^& it noro you #$%^ ..." Your statement, by your own admission, was pure abuse.

No, it is decidedly the first time, otherwise I wouldn't be making this commotion. I dont think I insulted anyone - although mildly irritated perhaps because some responses sometimes practically beg for saracasm, but I wouldn't call what I did insulting (unless the norm nowadays is to be hyper-sensitive). But that's just my opinion.
And again I never fully disclosed all the details of the story out of regard for the staff, and most of you assume to already know what really happened, and what the reporting user did in return.
I actually reported someone in another game once, but that person was deranged like a rabid dog that had to be put down, he was mindlessly spamming blatant insults binded to his keyboard and guess what? Nothing happened. My own case is lightweight in comparison.
But it's not my game, and not my forum, so the best thing to do from here on is to stop necroing the thread (and I know it's only a day or so old), and wait for the mod lock it. I'm no longer interested in continueing this dried topic since communication has proven to be futile. Whatever happens to me afterwards the thread is closed is nobody's concern but mine and the mods.
Well. Now we know one side of the story. I bet the other person would tell a whole different one. In any case, this thread will achieve absolutely nothing. As others have mentioned, discussing moderation might earn you yet another warning from Cryptic.
...because let's be frank, everyone is cursing in online games all the time.
I don't. So your assumption is wrong. The correct version of this sentence would be:
"..some people are cursing all the time."
Save the Spock-logic for roleplay scenerios friend. You know exactly what I meant.
Yes I do. You were trying to justify your violation the way somebody would hope to avoid a speeding ticket. "But officer, everybody is speeding here all the time." Doesn't work there, won't work here either.
In a way I agree - and I will "pay" my ticket like everyone else, but that doesn't prohibit me the right to comment. Politics change all the time, it's not an orthodoxy. If they feel the need to close the thread, and put more heat on me, then so be it. But it shall be done so by them, not by you.
I agree with Szim. Cussing someone out is the wrong solution to the problem. Why? Let's ignore the politeness thing. Obviously it's horribly impolite, but you don't care about that. The bigger issue is that the only thing a noob learns by getting cussed it is that you're angry at them. Nothing more. Wait.... I need to emphasize that more: NOTHING. You need to explain what you think they're doing wrong. Otherwise you're wasting their time and yours.
Ugh, I don't know how many brain cells I lost here - because something was insulted here alright, and that would be my intelligence.
I'm going to assume this forum is akin to some distant planet that is disconnected from reality, so bear with me: were the rules broken by me? Duh. Did I deserve the warning? Sure I did - you steal, you get caught, you get a reprisal as much as 1+1 = 2.
So what's my point? My point is very simple: the moderation rules must've somehow recently changed into being in my opinion overly strict, and that I don't like. It gives power to every random person in the game to be taken seriously by the staff for merely disliking the look on someone's face - and that is dangerous. That's exactly the way I see it, and that kills a game.
Rules are good, because without them there is chaos, but too many rules might result in chaos eventually as well. I know increased censorship is happening all over the internet right now, but it is sad to see it's happening in STO as well after 6 years. If I don't like it, I should just stop playing the game right? Maybe i'll do that, maybe not, It will be up for me to decide if I'm still around.
So all of you stop necroing the thread with this useless psychobabble, and let the mods close this fail of a thread already. Beyond this point I will stop reading/replying, because it isn't worth my time anymore. Enjoy your biased little clique.

I'm a bit confused by your conflicting statements; first you said you had a right (or belief) in free speech and felt justified to air your grievances. Now that people appear to be disagreeing with you, you are now asking people to cease replying and requesting that the thread be closed.
So in essence you have 'said your peice' and now everybody else can shut up about it and go away (unless they agree with you).
It's certainly in keeping with the pattern of behaviour you have displayed both in the original complaint and subsequent posts (pretty much 'school kid/school yard' antics, then throwing your toys out the pram when people call you on it).

Necroing the thread? It's not even a full day old. You should probably investigate what that word means in this context.
Speaking as someone who's not part of the clique, you seem extremely rude and unpleasant. If you think your behavior is acceptable - if "f-ing noob" is the kind of "free speech" that you cherish - then yes, I think it best that you leave.

Obviously they are angry. Not sure how the thread has anything to do with necro.
Does have a point on everything being censored. Ever try writing a critique on Gateworld? You get flagged instantly for disliking their latest show. You can't even make discussions or comments because they put you on a probie status for 2-6 years. It's like you're the dog and they are trainer. You have more freedom here compared to that one. It's like the Great Wall of China over there.
@jodarkrider me thinks this thread is getting out of hand

You can't discuss moderation or private emails on the forum as far as I am aware. You might even get another warning for this post.
P.S: Why did you feel the need to call somebody a 'ffff noob' (I'm guessing the 'F' was spelt a bit differently...)
It's not very grown up is it?
Like I said I don't condone such behavior, so I must've had a REALLY good reason for that right? In any case I think the discussion is fine, I didn't let out too many details.
