Recruitment campaing - will there be one this spring?

Hi, i'll just be returning to the game after 3 months absence, and would like to start 2 new toons. Romulan& also one FED toon for once.
I just do not want to run into the same problem as last year, where i had to delete my lvl 33 toon to free the slot for a delta recruit.
Now, counting 18 toons on my account (really playing only one, the others are just waiting in the docks on lvl 55, not even DOFFing anymore as it takes an hour to complete them all), ill be buying two new slots and would LOVE to catch a new recruitment event if possible!

So, what are the chances?

there is supposed to be a delta event some time soon, no word yet on what the format for the event will be.

it's the 50 year anniversary of trek and season 11.5 is coming the chances are high

I would not make any assumptions regarding the event but having said that its a moot point anyway as the OP wants 2 slots and as you can only buy them in pairs he would have to buy 2 to get one more anyway though I still cant figure why he wants to create more then he has anyway if he is not playing most of them, surely it would be better to just delete one or two of the characters hes not using and start afresh when the event starts.

OP, not sure why you had to delete a toon to make room for a Delta Recruit, since we were all given one free character slot at the same time.

Really counting on a new Recruit type event as I've been meaning to make another alt but lack the space, and it is more fun leveling with others for the purpose of acquiring something account-wide.

When asked on the recent P1 podcast interview, Bort didn't say there would never be one, in fact there likely will, but it didn't sound like it was on the radar at all.

I have never deleted a character to make room for a delta, the op says he has 18 toons on his account but is only playing one, it seems to me that rather then buy 2 extra slots to create 2 deltas that he would need to do even if they give us one space it would make sence to delete one or two character he is not using depending on whether they give us a free slot or not.

If they're making Delta Recruitment a recurring event, I find it rather unlikely they'd increase the number of free character slots every time.

I also tend to think that if they do an actual Delta recruit event rather then some similar recruitment event as I suspect they will it will be an exact rerun of the previous event.

so what does this mean for current players?, players who have like myself created delta recruits from all 3 factions will not be able to unlock any of the account unlocks for non delta characters as they were all unlocked during the first event though players who only made one delta would be able to unlock a couple of the account rewards they didn't before providing they create a delta of an alternative faction then their first so they will benefit account wide only to a very limited extent.

players who only currently have delta recruits characters will also not benefit from the account unlocks as they didn't in the first event.

I may be totally wrong about this but it seems to me very unlikely that they will do a different recruitment event with the same time travel element storyline and totally different items to find in the various missions and a completely new set of account rewards collected from yet another NPC situated close to the Temporal agent to collect them from.

Ricossa DID confirm (in a Podcast last month) there will be another Delta Recruit coming, and yes, like last time you will get a FREE character slot.

Another recruitment event could be a massive opportunity to do something completely game changing in STO.

"Coalition" characters or whatever. You still make a Fed/KDF/Rom character, with same access to ships, but teaming-wise, there is no restriction. Add in starbases for these characters, and there is a multitude of new things that can be done. There is your dilithium sink, because who wouldn't want a fleet with Fed/KDF aligned alts together? The new tag could lift some of the current restrictions on cross-faction teaming (all of these characters CAN team with each other, regardless of faction), even if it's level or mission restricted (must complete first faction specific arc first?). New missions just for these characters, even.

I think they could have done so, so much more with the Delta recruit thing.

It's possible. I see crystalline for March, Season 11.5 for April. Then they need to fill May up to get us to Risa in June. I had been hoping for feature episode replay then, but another recruiting event would be interesting too.

The delta recruiting event has shown once again what the true strength of STO is: The story missions which you play for levelling.

Honestly, I hope they find more and more diverse reasons to level new toons.

given that the last delta event was a forerunner/teaser of the iconian war it is unlikely that a new delta style event will come during or after the current future proof story line, it would more likely come in the build up to a new story line.
they could do an event maybe based on the gamma quadrant but this would be a massive undertaking if they are still working on that expansion, only time will tell but I wouldn't go counting on anything until its announced.

at the end of the day I look at it like this, how many different recruit types do cryptic want?, we already have regular recruits and now we have deltas, say they have gamma recruits next then what come next year and the year after? there could be so many different recruit types running arround it doesn't bare thinking about.
far more sensible to just rerun the event as is and stick with just two variations.
