No Music playing except in Sector Space!

As the title says. Yes, my computer is fine. Yes, my music volume is up. Music ONLY plays during Sector Space, everywhere else it's just FX sound. No more awesome combat music when fighting the Borg, or no more music during cutscenes or even during normal missions.

How is this atrocity not fixed yet? Seriously, check out some of the posts speaking of this issue:

http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1211092/music-not-playing-during-missions

Why do you continue ignoring such a crippling bug? Then again, introducing new ships is fine... Way to go.

Maybe they should rename support portion of the forums, because there is no support at all.

It's saddening that one of the core aspects of a videogame is outright BROKEN, and nobody seems to care save for a handful of us players who still enjoyed listening to the ost.

I don't even know why they have the support section in the forums, the report a bug feature, or anything at all when they have shown a complete disregard for them.

Bumping, because this is a SERIOUS issue that needs to be taken care of.
  • calamar017calamar017 Member Posts: 43 Arc User
I am also experiencing this issue, and it occurred relatively recently. Previously I'd experienced no problem with music playing, but now I only get music in Sector Space. I have to admit I'm a little perplexed.

This is really ruining the atmosphere of the game! :(
And I can't get any answer from support, I can't find anything on google. I've tried reinstalling... I have no idea what to do!!
Everything was fine until one of the patches I'm sure.
What's happened! When will it be fixed?
Has ANYONE figured out a workaround?
  • calamar017calamar017 Member Posts: 43 Arc User
I doubt there IS a workaround. Since my music worked flawlessly and consistently until the last couple of days, and since it still works correctly in Sector Space, I can only assume that they dropped a patch of some type that had some accidental side-effect of shutting down the music inside actual mission maps. Presumably they'll look into it and fix it at some point.

Anybody from Cryptic PLEASE say SOMETHING!

They have absolutely no intention of responding to our concerns. I have come to the conclusion that the "support" section of the forums is only a place to let off some steam about a few related issues, and even then too much steam and it's "close the thread and ban the poster" time. There is no support or bug squashing to be found anywhere. Audio don't make the big money. Selling ships do, and that's where they focus their efforts. Not on posts like yours or mine. Trust me, I'm as thrilled with this as you are. :| I had a pea-sized hope that this all had something to do with the bug-aversary, but it's over and what was lost before is still gone.

I have been told that the bug has been fixed in the Tribble patch! Fingers crossed it will make it to the holodeck safe and sound.

This had to have started with a patch. I don't know how it was for all of you but first it was just some maps that didn't have their usual music. Then when you get the music piece for let's say "space battle" it was choppy then it was out completely. Delta Quadrant doesn't seem to suffer this, probably because sector space has the same music as the maps and maybe I am wrong but I don't think they ever implemented "space battle" music for the Delta maps.

I think it's been what? Two months? Maybe more this problem or bug has been going on. I do hope they plan to fix this because I am one of those few that actually like having the music on.

This started happening to me January 29, when they hotfixed the non-appearing ground Omega molecule issue. On my end, "Time and Tide" doesn't suffer from this problem, and neither do one or two other missions or the ground portion of "Reunion."

Space battles aren't nearly as exciting without the music. Even non-combat ground sequences don't feel as exciting. :/ I am deeply disappointed that Cryptic has allowed this to go on for two-and-a-half months without so much as an acknowledgement of the problem.

Indeed. They ought to care more about the quality of their product, and not just the ships they sell. If the music is broken, they need to fix it. If the voiceovers are gone they need to put them back. But ships are what makes them money, not repairing the other non-lucrative portions of the game.

I am a bit disappointed that they didn't fix it for this weeks patch. What is even more disappointing is the fact there is no acknowledgement that they are even aware of the problem. It doesn't even show up as a "known issue" in the patch notes. I suppose they are aware of the problem but it is not considered a "priority" then what is? Some dumb exploit from the Breach mission gets not only a developer response but is also corrected with all due haste oh and the music on that mission is out as well.

For the most part I have in the past had tried to be very understanding when some problem or complaint arose with Cryptic. I have taken the side of the developers and company on many occasions because I thought it was warranted. But really, all this time and not so much as any feedback to the problem? That is something I have alot of trouble understanding.

Music in Sector Space is STILL patchy!

The music problem is no longer happening to me. Has anyone else been so lucky?

Much of the voiceovers are still gone.
