I never trusted Noye. Security, release the hounds!
And trendy is right. There was all kinds of doom about how the iconian arc end could never be well done in just one episode. And lots of peeps, myself included, loved Midnight. Let's just see where it goes.
Back to Noye, someone make sure he doesn't have the spate set of keys for the Annorax.
My guess is Noye found out about his wife and is now intent on saving her by saving her world from the borg. After bringing them back a sharing what happened they start the temporal Cold war to keep the Aliance from restoring the timeline where they were assimilated. The Spheres are part of a plan to pull their entire system out of our timeline to this end. And ultimately they influence the Xindi to destroy earth to prevent the federation from existing or destoying the spheres.
(...)
And Noye, somehow I won't mind blasting his head off if it means protecting the timeline. I get the feeling he might be the next big threat.
(...)
I don't think so, as Noye becoming the new vilian of the week, possibly because he found out he erased his wife, would literally be Annorax's story all over again. I don' think we see such a blatant rehash of events
I don't think she's so much erased from existence as being edited in the present temporal reality. As in, she was his wife in the previous reality and could very well be the enemy in the new one. For all he knows she's gone and may try to 'rehash events' to save her, only to make things worse.
I like these stories, and also hope they get saved and eventually placed in game somehow at some point.
Time travel, along with other more bizarre aspects of Star Trek like fluidic space, mirror universe, and so on make it stand out, and to me at least are part of the whole idea of exploration which like Q once said isn't just about space but the greater possibilities.

One one hand, i agree with not wanting a "Year of Hell II". even if it was one of my favourite episodes of Voyager, the limitations of the game engine would make any attempt to replicate it just as awkward and unneccesary as the mission with the Doomsday Device.
On the other, i see WHY it makes sense too. After all, those who ignore 'history' are doomed to repeat it.
Real Temporal Operative: Purchased the Special Temporal Agent pack before it was even officially announced!
As a person with extensive experience in personal, installation, and resource protection, this sounds eerily familiar. The first thing cut during budget cuts is security. The folks in charge have little to no clue about the realities of keeping them, the installation they are in charge of, or it's resources secure. They want the comfort of being safe but don't want the "inconvenience" that comes with it. You keep getting told "stop jumping at shadows!", even when you are consistently correct in your evaluations of the situation. When the inevitable happens and you are correct, you get called out on the carpet for not being ready for the situation and not keeping the situation from happening. It is a thankless and under appreciated job. I hope to see more updates from a security perspective.
More krynimm and more temporal shenanigans. Those time-travel angles always invalidate the "big picture" in my opinion. Since everyone and their grandma's dog in the STO universe can now time travel at will, nothing we do in the game seems to have any meaning because you simply can always go further back and prevent this and undo that.
So far, I don't like where this "new dawn" if going. But we'll see how it turns out. I just hope we don't enter this season of new beginnings and exploration just to re-heat old plotlines again already done on the shows. A new dawn should in my opinion really be... new.

Well it does fit in with the temporal cold war. Let's wait and see if this is a standalone story or is leading up to the next featured episode.
I'm with Targ. I always hated the Temporal Cold War arc, ruined Enterprise's first two seasons. The show instantly improved once it was done away with. One would've hoped that Archer winning the war two and a half centuries ago would've spared us having to fight it again. I despise Temporal Mechanics.
Anyway, this at least is an inevitable afterbirth. Noye is obviously taking the loss of the wife that he had who never was as hard as many who realized a lifetime of happiness in love was snatched from him...but a mistake. He could become a new Annorax, which is very troubling indeed.
Reading this and my thoughts on the current storylines as I've seen...we should of seen this coming when the Krenim got introduced. We know Starfleet starts to develop Temporal Technology at some point in it's existence.
Now, was the Temporal Cold War arc of Enterprise weak? Yes. I won't even argue this. Part of it's problem was how little and how disjointed the arc itself was over three seasons of going nowhere. We were left with questions and plot holes big enough to fly a Dyson Sphere through.
I think though that what most of you forget is how good STO is at trying to fix and patch these plot holes to form a story. They may end up giving us answers to such questions as these.
1. Who was the mysterious man in Enterprise giving the Suliban Cabal their marching orders?
2. Why are the Tholians even involved?
3. Do we now have an origin story for the Spherebuilders? (See back in the Iconian War for what I am referring to.)
4. What were the other factions? (This was hinted at in Enterprise.)
1. That would be a good question to answer, though I would think he was further ahead in time than us.
2. As I understand it, they have a multidimensional, multicontinuity, multitemporal empire that is contiguous.
3. I say it's the Tuterians trying to come back into reality.
4. We're probably about to find out.
Man, all this time traveling stuff is giving my admiral a headache and somehow I think the Krenim are idiots when it comes to time travel since all they care about is themselves and never learn to adapt to whatever comes up.
I hear you. My Admiral is a history minor and time travel is about the cruelest thing you can do to him.
Edit: Somehow, I don't know but, what if the Krenim are by chance the sphere builders and going through time messed them up in some way. Would be a twist since it is just a theory.
I thought Clauda's species the Tuterians were the Sphere Builders. They look like them. And they would definitely have reason to participate in the Temporal Cold War.
The nice thing about qs and temporal time travel, is you can fix just about anything, remember the original original earth space dock lol. Sounding like a broken record but Romulus and Romulan something Republic or Empire stand alone. Who knows....
As for Enterprise the show was not too bad, the biggest problem with Enterprise, was how it mixed up the timelines. Things like forcefields from back then, D7 Klingon battlecruisers, T'varo light warbirds but with a modern look, and lastly they never got to finish the show. It was clear by the last few episodes that it had turned into a rush job. The Temporal shows were not too bad.
The Warbirds and Battlecruisers were caused by a bunch of idiot executives who didn't comprehend future, but not as far in the future as we're used to, thus a more primitive future. They had a design for the Battlecruiser that was appropriate, but it didn't make it. Very sad.
*Facepalms*
I don't have a problem with the Krenim and since I love studying history, Time Travel and Temporal Alteration aren't a problem for me...
I just don't want to see such a direct rip-off of VOY: "Year of Hell"; Krenim scientist who lost his wife due to a side-effect of a Temporal Weapon firing, it's like Noye is being set-up to become 'Annorax the Second' and the only question is who he'll blame more - Iconians for causing the Iconian War, Milky War Alliance/Iconian Resistance for being involved in the Temporal Weapon's creation or the Borg themselves for assimilating the Tutarians (Clauda included).
I would appreciate it if he comprehended his own failing in this. Honestly that was Annorax. Annorax got that it was his own technical failings and inability to actually make a perfect temporal weapon. His inability to become god of time. Something that he couldn't overcome.
By contrast if he blames us, or everyone else, then he would be Khan.
I never trusted Noye. Security, release the hounds!
And trendy is right. There was all kinds of doom about how the iconian arc end could never be well done in just one episode. And lots of peeps, myself included, loved Midnight.

It's madness I tell you. I can't imagine that this facility would just be mothballed and low security statused considering this is the facility that built the freaking Temporal Weapons ship. So unless they have a temporal shield up and can't be accessed without authorization, it's crazy to have low security.
Can the Weapons ship even be destroyed? I know if the temporal core has an inverse incursion then it erases itself and all its changes from history, but can you even turn the damn thing off? Remember we need it to have its place in history since it made the portal to Iconia. Though why we didn't use the Borg trick from First Contact is beyond me. Heck we used it to get back. Krenim tech is top notch in Time Travel, but it was hardly our only option.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
So another time manipulation story. What can we bet that the bad guy will go even further back to the creation of the Iconian where they will make them capable of time travel. Or pour bleach in that pool of developing aminoacids. Or...whatever. just stop, for the love of all that is holy, with time travel. Please. Stop. Enough. Create a story worth doing with a lasting plot.
Edited with less sarcasm
Hearing your review of our story line that hasn't come out and that you know absolutely nothing about? Yeebus.
I remember when everyone lost their minds at Midnight and you haven't even seen the newest episode yet. Be patient.
With respect, I disagree.
I have always been one to suggest people not say negatively about issues in the forums until they know something. In this case, it is pretty clear the intention of the story is to play with time travel again. It's been done too much. I am simply stating my opposition to time alteration story lines. They are too easy to write yet not easy to keep in continuity and anyone can seriously pick them apart. In the context of the games recent past, everyone, including Noye, failed utterly to do anything with time alteration resulting in a clear success. By now we should all think that Temporal Investigations would be actively shutting down anyone playing with time travel.
I like the writing in these stories. I think the game is going in a generally good direction. But there are so many other things to be developed. I am sure Noye wants his wife back and wants to restore her species to the time line. Understandable. But he is probably one of the few who even knows about her and her people from her shielded files. The whole rest of the galaxy would be completely unaware of them if they were wiped from the time line by the outcome of playing with the time stream as seen in Midnight.
We have a Tholian threat that can be expanded on nearly infinitely as they are extra dimensional. The same with the Mirror Universe. We have the Dominion at our door again thanks to Sela. The Tal Shiar have been too quiet and New Romulus has lost many. They may need to bring expatriot Romulans and Remans into the fold to survive. There are Klingon factions who do not support the peace. The Gorn want autonomy. There is much to be developed without time travel. Many of us feel this way.
More imprtantly, many are clamoring for exploration and more content in the flavor of Trek. Less combat, more story.
I am sorry of this puts you on the defensive or triggers your sarcasm array. Regardless, I still love you.

I kinda like the whole thing about time travel. We don't have a lot of those. Hopefully "Future Proof" arc gonna have more missions that deal with time travel. Plus I think we have moved up to the point where we have to deal with it since it was inevitable to happen sooner or later.
Edit: And somewhere along that line we have to start the exploration of the Gamma Quadrant... Literally.
Warp to DS9, through the Bajoran Wormhole and BAM you're in the Delta Quadrant. And hopefully you don't get blown up by the Dominion for encroaching on their territory.

I've got a gut feeling that somehow, this is all leading to something that has to do with Classic TOS.
Perhaps even a mixing of the period between the end of ENTERPRISE and begining of The Original Series.
This is the 50th Anniversary year, so I'm guessing that that era is going to become the major focus for the game.
And the only way that makes sense, is for Time Travel to be involved.

I had a sneaking suspicion that Noye would eventually go ballistic. We may be seeing the first signs of that.
The question is the "why".
Is he trying to restore the Imperium?
Or did he find his personal correspondence with his late wife Clauda in that temporally shielded core and now, even though he never met her in this timeline, tries to fix the mistake that denied him true happiness in life?
Either way, to me, this hints to a forming schism among the ranks of the Krenim.
A faction that wants to keep messing with time, hoping to fix things (I'll just call them "Temporal Radicals" for now)
And those who would leave the past alone and focus on the present instead, hoping to build a better future ("Temporal Moderates").
And if this does go down in a sort of civil war / rebellion way, I'm starting to see where the future-Federation would get its advanced temporal technology from: from the Krenim "Temporal Moderates" who would use their skills to safeguard time, rather than trying to alter it.
Going with the second option, another messed up temporal incursion on Noye's part miiiight just create the ambitious Sphere Builders we've come to know in the ENT series.
And we still don't know how this will (uuh... WOULD, rather O.o) affect of the outcome of the Iconian War
To sum up my reaction: Uh-ooooh.

I dunno... we're talking about a race that exists outside our comprehension of space and time....

I believe you just hit the jackpot. Plus it's probably how the Temporal Cold War started, because of people like Noye and others who would eventually become the cause of it all.

Can't say I'm impressed, either. The temporal cold war the worst plot Enterprise had and I'd really rather not see a re-hash of its content here.
Can anyone remember when we were explorers?
Didn't Picard say that because he was lamenting getting stuck with acting as a diplomat?
Yes, in Insurrection. I say it because I am so sick to death of time travel stories. There are so many better options that could be done this season. A temporal cold war is about as boring and predictable as last season was.
Noye encoded his correspondence because he learned that he was bugged. That not makes from him the time terrorist. You are paranoid, the same as Orndal.
I would finally like to start doing something different than hiding super powerful time devices somewhere in the caves , where "nobody" goes ( Risa- lol ).
F.e. What we'll do with the system of iconian gateways ? Or entrust the Krenim development of a device that turns off all the time travel. Borg and Tholians are still threat , they have no such inhibitions with time travel as we could , and once we have that we might wake up and find that we have become their slaves. Every second creature in the galaxy can now travel through time , starting Devidians , ending Tholians. Stop the time travels!
It speaks of advancing there interests and possibly using the time line to do so.
this does not mean they have to go back in time they could go forward to see the outcome of future events in order to secure there standings or simply to place themselves into a point or supremacy were they no longer need us but we need them.
I have only just started to learn or at least try to remember the story as the game tells it. I did not watch the shows but I try to follow the episodes in game to understand were we are ( I'm soo confused and i personally hate the idea of time travel and skipped most of those episodes.)
The idea of him going back or fixing anything to save someone he does or does not know or may or may not have loved is to much of a love story idea for me and i would have to pass. I'm not saying it is a love story but ( for the love of god say it isn't )
That being said for those who like the idea this story suggests i hope you can fully enjoy it but chances are i wont much enjoy it myself
(...) Every second creature in the galaxy can now travel through time , starting Devidians , ending Tholians. Stop the time travels!
This is my main "beef" with this. Time-travel has been used inflationary in Star Trek in general and STO in particular it just isn't exciting any more. It's like the Doctor Who "Great Time War" - we have huge armadas of ships battling conventionally, bombing cities etc. only to have a single ship suddenly jump back in time and change everything over and over and over again. Where's the point in all of this?
I'd rather see a new "conventional" story in Season 11.

Noye was okay until he lost his wife, temporal mechanics corrected as if she never existed, im guessing after reading the logs from the temperal core he realized he lost someone close to him and it has made him bitter, secretive, manipulative and possibly even cruel. all the wrong features you want in a man who is going to do an annorax. find his wife in time and everything else be damned, correct it and possibly get the old imperium back, or annorax himself.
if it goes this route, this re-hash, i called it first

OK Traala, your security officer has raised a concern about one of your personnel acting out of character, and you privately agree with him. Why are you discounting the possibility of violence? I realize you may have more experience with Noye personally but, you have security officers for a reason! Star Trek Online: Foundry Storyline Series
Yes, in Insurrection. I say it because I am so sick to death of time travel stories. There are so many better options that could be done this season. A temporal cold war is about as boring and predictable as last season was.
Stop the time travels!
this does not mean they have to go back in time they could go forward to see the outcome of future events in order to secure there standings or simply to place themselves into a point or supremacy were they no longer need us but we need them.
I'd rather see a new "conventional" story in Season 11.

if it goes this route, this re-hash, i called it first
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
P.S. I still hate the Temporal cold war!
