You're forgetting that before DR PvP brought in a lot of revenue. The casual PvEr doesn't spend much money if any on the game whereas the casual PvPer spends substantial money and even more time regularly the majority of MMOs. Simply because PvP build's and skill require more time and effort to develop. A lot of PvPers paid money to speed up the necessary PvE grind to get their gear.
DR kicked out a lot of players and noticeable revenue that helped fund the development of the glory fest that PvEers call STO because it made it very clear that the Devs aren't interested in a 'functional' game, just a 'playable' one.
Season 8.5 for me was a good age for PvP in STO because it had some "balance" because there were serious drawbacks to cheese and the meta back then. You can be assured people paid through the nose to get the latest lockbox ships/gear etc, because of PvP.
Now the developers are releasing ships like clockwork on the zen store but there has been a noticeable drop in lockbox gear/key purchases after DR (it's why stuff is ridiculously expensive in the exchange, used to be PvPers would practically throw gear away because all they wanted was what they needed to test their new build. Not the case now) despite the stuff that was and is being offered by opening them.
PvP has always been a good and major part of MMOs and a lot of other types of games (games like chess). It's not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. It's not a problem if you don't like it but don't start saying that liking it is a problem because too much focus on one thing in any game leads to a TRIBBLE game. STO is starting to be a case in point.
Finally let's not forget that PvP in STO is very much optional and quite rightly so. But it lacks basic balancing, options and development. But it's ok because the PvE community are and will be paying the price wether they like it or not. We have and will move on to better things.

LMAO at the pver not spending money. OMFG really? Oh yeah you know why lockbox keys sales are dropping? The TRIBBLE odds and other rewards 90% of them are absolute TRIBBLE.
