Now I don't think that's quite powerful enough....

Really the ultimate BFAW would be where it just kills everything on the map just by having it slotted, don't even need to fire it. I want that skill.
Also I want it to target for me so I literally have to use no skill at all, in fact it should just auto-fly me to the center of the map and kill everything for me. A sort of BFAWAP (Beam Fire At Will Auto Pilot).
That way I can concentrate on watching tv or cooking dinner whilst the game makes me look uber-1337 with the minimum effort of my part.

While it's at it, it should also auto-complete the Winter Race for the Event ship.

1 of the only solutions I could come up with for bfaw, is make it so that each beam nets an increased drain load!

    First shot= free
    2nd beam= -10wp as usual
    3rd beam= -20wp
    4th beam= -40wp
    5th beam= -60wp
    6th beam= -80wp
    7th beam= -100wp
    8th beam= -120wp

This would put a heavy hamper, on using so many beams when using bfaw, as the drain would become HUGE.

Are you looking for an "I WIN!!!" button that still makes it feel like you're part of the game instead of just ending it then and there? Are you getting tired of DPS club admins and parsers putting you on ignore, because you parsed so miserably, they think you are wasting their time? Do you just want to put on a rerun of DS9 on Netflix while you win top prize? Then Beam:Fire at Will is for you! Guaranteed to instantly get you invited to the hottest DPS clubs or your money back! (no real guarantee is expressed or implied)

Beam:Fire at Will! It slices, it dices, it chops up enemy ships. It's your introduction to in-game cheese! Maximum destruction with no strategy, no improvision, no brain necessary!

Here's even more testimonials from our satisfied customers

    S'stethess'ss's'ss's'ssss's's'sss'sss'tss'tss'tss'tethess'ss'ss'ss'tss'tss'tss'ss's'ss'tss'tss'tss
That's gorn for: ISA advanced was a waste of time. I already got ignored by 4 admins from the DPS clubs after "wasting their time on 8K parses" Now that I have BFAW, I have convinced one of the last admins left and he convinced all but 1 to stop keeping me on ignore and welcome me into the club.

S'shizzle, Gorn surface guard, Rura Penthe (no longer available for verification. Geeze! it's like these reptillians can't stand the cold out here)

When I have some time, that is when I'm not dodging Federation patrol ships and Klingon raiders, I like to play STO. I settled for KDF Alien because I can't stand Vulcans. I also cannot abide playing a role that includes me being subserviant to D'tan, who knows nothing about what it means to be Romulan. He's just a Vulcan with a V bump on his head as far as I'm... what? Get to the point? You insignificant little toad! Do you know who I am? Fine! I used to pound the computer when I keep running into the Borg in Hive Onslaught Elite, and the other player keep telling me I'm trashing their runs. If they knew that I really was Empress Sela, they would know better than to be so insolent! But now that I have Beam:Fire at Will, I am secure in the knowledge that it's everyone else around me who are trashing our Hive runs. I swear! None of these imbeciles know how to play the game! As of yet we still haven't destroyed even one of those cigar shaped warships. We just keep on getting destroyed, and destroyed, and destroyed! I still spend more time as a quantum singularity than to sum it all up, Beam:Fire at Will is the best ability in the game and I love it! (bold section has replaced the remainder of this longwinded testimonial for increased accuracy)

Empress Sela herself, unknown vessel, unknown space.

Wait a minute! That's it? What about our interview with Hakeev? What do you mean dead! Obisek? Oh! Fine. Hey you're not typing all this in are you? Good! I hope not. I'd take a bar of latinum for every letter I find there.

Beam:Fire at Will is the best ability in the game, guaranteed to get you into the hottest DPS clubs around, or your money back! (again no guarantee expressed or implied)

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Auburnabobble, there lived a princess who wished to visit her grandparents. "Grandparents," she wrote on her finest stationary, "Please make all preparation for a royal visit, as I am coming to see you very soon. Love, your granddaughter, the princess."
The next morning the princess went down to the stables to ensure her most favorite of her horses was groomed and shod, was watered and fed, and was in all possible ways made ready to bear her on the arduous journey ahead. The stable boy was a dependable lad, and could be taken at his word when at last he said: "Your favorite stallion I have groomed and shod, I have watered and fed, and have in all ways made ready for the journey ahead." The princess sensed the boy harbored forbidden feelings of longing for her. Feelings she delighted in ignoring entirely.
"Princess! Oh, Princess!" A squire called from the castle courtyard. Both the princess and the stable boy went out to see what all the fuss was about.
"Bad news, I'm afraid," said the squire who handed the princess a singed letter on the royal stationary she'd sent to her grandparents the day before. "The messenger you dispatched has returned in a frightful state. I fear he might not see the morrow without a great deal of bloodletting to carry him through the night. He spoke of the road being menaced by a terrible dragon. Alas, sweet princess, the quest to visit your grandparents is lost."
"Pish!" said the princess, unmournful of the news that her most trusted messenger was all a-toast. "Fetch me the boldest, the strongest, the most feared and most fearless knight to dispatch this bothersome beast. I will have the scent of its ripening corpse assailing my nostrils on the road to my grandparents tomorrow.
Out to meet the beast in single combat rode the most boldest and strongest, most feared and fearless knight ever there lived, while the princess waited...
Back came the knight more terrified and cowardly than any terrified coward ever there lived. "Alas, sweet princess, the quest to visit your grandparents is lost. 'T'is madness to try."
"Harumph!" said the princess, undeterred by the cowardizing of her best knight. "Who will champion me on my quest to visit my grandparents?" she shouted across the crowd who had gathered to see what royal pwnage looked like. Not a soul dared step forward, not a soul dared murmur, not a soul dared breathe for fear they would be taken a volunteer.
"I'll give it a go," piped a youthful voice. It was the stable boy who, in spite of the dangers, saw an "in" with the princess on whom he was madly crushing.
The princess rallied. "That's the spirit, stable boy! Fell the beast for me and I shall grant ye land and title. I shall dub thee Lord Stable Boy, the bravest of all knights."
"Having bested the beast that bested the best of your knights, brave indeed will I have proved myself to be, but land and title I would have you keep in exchange for another prize," said the stable boy.
    "Name it."
"Each day I take a stroll down past the crooked and decaying church and back again."
"Pious stable boy, you would have me fix this sacred place of worship?"
"Nay," said the stable boy. "I would have you accompany me on my daily walk. And, I dunno, maybe we could get some take-out after?"
    "Deal," said the princess.
Out to meet the beast in single combat rode the most in-way-over-his-head stable boy ever there lived, while the princess waited...
Back came the most foolhardy stable boy ever there lived, his pluck having been well and truly plucked. "What the hell was I thinking?" He lamented. "Forget your grandparents. 'T'is over!"
The princess by now was at the end of her rope. "Very well then, I can see I have no choice but to handle things myself. Fetch my horse!"
Out to meet the beast in single combat rode the princess, trailed at a safe distance by a whipped stable boy and a curious knight who had somehow managed to put his cowardice on hold.
There, at the border to the lands in which her grandparents were said to dwell, the princess came upon the unwarranted gate-keeper, a gigantic beast of scale and wing, possessed of a powerful determination to let no thing pass.
"Ahh, I see the princess has finally come to do her own dirty work," the beast remarked in a voice low and powerful and chuffing of soot.
The princess stepped down from her horse, showing not a glimmer of fear as she faced the terrible dragon. Not far away, secreted in bushes, the knight and the stable boy had crept near, waiting to whisk their princess away from imminent doom.
"Did you not see what I did to the three you sent? To your messenger, your knight and your stable boy?" The dragon taunted. "What makes you think that you, a pampered little princess, will fare any better?"
"This," the princess declared, letting loose a devastating barrage of Beam: Fire At Will. The dragon ate it, the knight - liquified, the stable boy - oblitterated, hell even the princess' most favorite horse was made glue.
"Was that so bleedin' hard?" said the princess to not another living soul, before hitching the rest of the way to her grandparents' retirement palace and living happily ever after.

Okay, anyone able to offer a solution to the perceived problem?

Shorten B:FAW to one firing cycle only? This would lengthen the cd period and might even normalise dps output enough to make mixing beams and torps seem sensible again. Just a thought.

Yeah, thanks! It's nice to know that the good performance of my ship isn't due to bugged abilities but actual design intent!

Looks at the HSE DPS table. Why is that godly Torp boat still #1 at that DPS table and not BFAW boat?

Lets Nerf BFAW because they are being OutDPSed by Torp Boats!!!

    I cwut u did thar. |=)

Truth be told, I'd be nothing w/o the Aggronauts (but you already know that ;) ).

Besides, it's not like torps haven't felt this before:
    "EAP is overperforming. Nerf Neutronic."

"Subwarp Sheath was advertised and sold as working with All Weapons, but it's not working with torps: Oops, we'll fix that. [Change tooltip to state "Works w/ energy weapons only."]

"Hey, we have client-server performance issues due to the way the game was coded." Change the way torpedo powers interact with each other to lessen the instantaneous calculations performed. Increase number of calculations performed for Embassy consoles and energy weapons.

I "BMC" out of fun for the video game, but you can see the points are there.

Doesn't mean I won't keep pushing harder to find a way to thrive.....

See you when I get back in game on the weekend.

Yes, my KLW double-proc is so much better than the extra power it drains, the accuracy overflow it doesn't apply, and all more. Clearly the FAW KLW double-proc is on the level of the issues TS was having. Clearly.
    SCM - Crystal C. (S) - [00:12] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 8.63M(713.16K) - Fed Sci

    SCM - Hive (S) - [02:31] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 30.62M(204.66K) - Fed Sci

    Tacs are overrated.

Instead they should bring down CRF/CSV a rung (so that CSV3/CRF3 becomes a Lt. Cmdr. skill), The horrid fallof of cannons is bad enough as it is.

I disagree, by the way, with lowering the cannon damage drop off. It's part of the unique style of cannons that you need to get close to bring the optimum firepower.

If we're to buff cannons, buff their effectiveness at close range. Say, from 5-1 km distance you get another +1 to +5 % crit probability and +5 to +15 Crit Severity. Maybe add a trait or DOFF that adds bonus power or reduced weapon drain when using cannons or cannon buffs and hitting a target at 3km distance or less. Give Cannons extra effectiveness when flanking.

Balanced shouldn't have to mean that everything works the same. It should encourage different play styles that are both equally effective. (A similar principle as is behind roles like DPS/Tanking/Healing roles in other MMOs, except that beams, cannons or torpedoes can all be build for DPS, but each style feels differently.)
