I'll probably partake in future events if the rewards look good and fit my playstyle, like I always do.
Oh wait, we are supposed to rant and complain about something here? Uhm... rabble rabble rabble

"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
Guess so.. To answer you OP i will be participating in all of then. Winter event is the best out of all of em so whatever your complaint is you picked the wrong one to complain about
I mean seriously. after the revamp why bother. I certainly not doing anymore. Cryptic, you shot yourself in the foot for this BONEHEADED IDEA!
I think you're taking it way too emotional. It's not all doom and gloom, simply from now on we'll be earning our ships for that year only. On the brighter side, it's account-wide unlocks, meaning for the alt-o-holics this is also a fix-in-disguise.
Think about it, you're given a free item in a game, and you complain because you can't get another free item in a said game, it's still free, you don't have to pay for or play for months to acquire it. I don't see the issue.
I have yet to partake in a winter event because the Breen ships don't interest me. I only go after ships I like
Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.
I'll NEVER slog through Crystalline Catastrophe or Mirror Invasion again.
Compared to those soul-crushing grindfests, running a two minute foot race once a day on a single toon to get a badass new ship for my whole account seems too negligible an effort to even mention.
Mirror is definitely a grind hanover but crystalline .. Pretty sure thats actually quucker than an ice race (and you dont even have to rezone to do it)

Even if I fail royally at the race again like I have in prior years, the Winter Event still has enough fun in the Winter Wonderland itself that I know I'll spend plenty of time goofing around there, picking up kit modules, outfits, playing with snow weapons, etc.

I wont do the silly Q box mini game which probably means that I also will not buy any store pack which comes out needing the console that comes with that event ship. Does that count OP?

I may be the one person in the game who actually is OK with that game.
Though I'd like to remind @tacofangs and the art team that there has been a colorblindness complaint regarding the color of the boxes...while I am not colorblind myself, it might be worth either a) changing the colors or b) changing the ribbons and bows on the packages to give them a distinguishing feature, and identifying them that way. (And of course if the player population is skewed male, then you'll see a higher proportion of colorblind users than the general population since colorblindness is a sex-linked trait. )

Risan is the best, WInter is the worst, actualy winter is the worst event in all the mmorpg I have been.
Why would anyone want to spend cold winter in a freezing hellhole,
if anyone got money , most likely that persone would to go to some place warm' with plenty sunshine and beaches.
Have you ever met anyone who earned a lot of money and then move to North Pole for retirement?
Grind but grind wisely...just enough to get any goodies you might want. No need for anything extra since they will be trash anyways for next year (if the servers still outlive that time)

As of this last Anniversary, the Q presents thing isn't even what you do for the ship in that event. You play Tricorder Hero scanning particles in 3 different places for it now. Presents were actually quicker, especially if you knew a few tricks to them, but the rewards for scanning Omega particles, aside from the ship, were way better, so it's a trade off.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
You guys wonder why i asked. What's the point of grinding if it will be uselss next year.
Huh? You grind 25 ice races, you get a FREE T6 SHIP for every character you have, AND any new characters that you create years from now. Plus admiralty cards for all of them.
How is that grind useless?
Perhaps you're trying to post something like "what's the point of grinding EXTRA TIMES if I can't store enough pre-griding stuffs to get next years' ship early??"
If so, then OK. There is no point to EXTRA grinding to stockpile ahead. DOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!
I don't care much for the actual event anymore. Maybe because not a lot of people actually want to celebrate it in-game. We're too fixated on grinding for tokens and currencies or finding ways to exploit it for ourselves. Another year, another ship to add to my collection. That's all it really is now.
I think this game has lost it's magic. Probably waaay late in realizing this, but the enthusiasm is gone.

I hear this a lot from people who either don't realize or don't believe time is a currency.
It isn't really FREE when you're spending the grind time it takes to do something 25 times. Grind time is a currency, and you're spending some it on the ship. A lot of people either value their grind time very low, or simply don't believe it is worth anything. It seems like a form of depression or low self-image, really, to believe your time isn't worth anything to anyone.

We're all worthwhile and valuable.
Back in the days, playing a game was supposed to be the "reward" for our invested time. Because, you know, playing. Today loading up a game is considered a "currency" and qualifies for "compensation"?

What "Boneheaded Idea"? I mean a little context to your "Dooom!..." statement would be nice.

I am confused as to the point of this thread.
